If you enjoy taking interesting (and affordable) trips by bus, coach, ferry, train, plane and, well whatever really(!), then please, read on!
I've been filming my travels since the middle of 2019 and I can tell you it's been anything but boring! From disastrous overnight coach journeys, to enchanting sleeper trains, beautiful ferry trips and scenic domestic and international flights. Plus all sorts of other random stuff I do in-between. If it moves from A to B, I’ll be on it! Most of the time it’s great, sometimes it’s terrible! Either way, I’ll give you my unbiased opinion in an honest and entertaining way.
Any subscriptions or support via the links below really helps me out. You can also interact with me that way too. Thanks very much for watching and cheers for now!
15 years ago , my husband and myself went on National Express to go to Edinburgh. The driver took us to every retail centre he could find. He said it was a way to bulk up his wages .
Shame you didn't have enough time to go to Grave Diggers by Glasnevin or Arlington Hotel by OConnell Bridge rather than just a bar just outside airport 😑
Only last week I was reminded why I hate busses so much. Booked a flight from Dublin to Eindhoven with Ryanair which was cancelled 2 days prior to departure so I had to come up with a plan B and that was to take a Eurolines / National Express bus from Dublin to London, 12 hours of pure madness. First of all there were no seat allocations so when boarding in Dublin people were nearly fighting to get a certain seat on the bus (It was a near fully booked service). I ended up quite far in the back of the bus and was treated with 2 guys sitting in front of me with massive headphones blasting very loud rap music out of them for most of the trip, yes also during the night. It was a 20.00PM service which would arrive at London Victoria at 8.00AM the next day. Second of all the legroom was awful and also my neighbour took a good chunk of space if you know what I mean. Furthermore the USB charger at my seat did not work, how convenient. Did not sleep one bit leaving me to arrive at London that next morning sleep deprived. Had then to go to London St Pancras for the Eurostar which was a sigh of relief. The train journey was 100 times more pleasant and comfortable. It reminded me why long distance bus trips are 9 out of 10 times a disaster. London Victoria Coach Station is also a disgrace, what a kip that it. Good video by the way again! 🤩 /rant over 🤣
Please dont take your shoes off when travelling on an express coach. Aside from the hygiene aspect if the coach is involved in an accident it will hamper your escape trying to put them back on. Also there may be broken glass on the floor and you could sustain very bad cuts to your feet.
Yes defo the Drivers are Great at National Express always Profesional and like you say a good laugh to. Great having 45 min breaks with them get of for abit get a coffee sit by coach with driver at 3am talking having a gab. Thats why i travel with them mightbe a long journey but you know what your getting with them. always best to go at night with NE relaxing.
I always go National x and there realy good i think. Digbeth i know very very well and its a very dodgy around there. you have to watch all around you all the time. i never get my cam out there anymore after past exploits lol. i once use to think the sercurity were been silly for saying no recording in here well we can as its public way and national express have told me its ok in any coach station by email, as for them are footage may one day be helpfull to them if they need it. but i know now the the sercurity at digbeth say it to protect you Which is cool.
Last time I caught National Express was years ago they used to show a film and had hostess trolley. It was lovely trip no mobiles then. Bournemouth to London. I hope you like it here and are treated nicely 😊 🙏
My experience of Flixbus was not a good one purely because the journey on the bus was cancelled at 4 a.m - by text - I was offered a refund or a later p.m bus. I chose to revert back to travelling by train.
I went to Aberdeen from victoria on a megabus. 12 hours. The people opposite were youths going up to a festival and all had 'bottles of water' with them. They got more and more 'water drunk' the further up the country we went. Their night time chattering went on for HOURS. I was so glad when they got off. The worst part of the whole journey was the hill of paper and poop that grew during the trip as the flush didnt work. A week later I went back to london and I would swear it was the same unmended toilet. I was sitting next to a very beardy looking man who physically recoiled as I got my hip flask full of actual water out when I ate my sandwiches.I was travelling light . My husband and son went up on an N express about a year later and said all the coach loos must be like that as they had the same experience.
new to the channel, great review, reminds me why I dont travel much on public transport (flying abroad is the only time I generally use it) and my parents were thinking of using Flixbus and after your review I will be letting them know thats the one to choose, other than national express, but will check on more reviews of that from your channel!
G'day to you, I like your lay back way, its most refreshing to see, I was pleased to see the Ferry was made here in WA, Henderson is quite a big ship/ferry building area of Perth WA! Armadale West Aust.
I use National Express, Leeds to Bournemouth. Changes at Victoria Station usually with a well needed 90 mins break. The best bit is travelling through the city. The worst is the time it takes, 8.30 am until 5.30 pm. Buses have always been clean with good drivers. Think there is a shortage of drivers so they dip into a pool of ‘sub contracted’? Spent most of one journey chatting to the driver.
Interesting video. I mean I'd rather sit in a corner and stick pins in my eyes then travel by bus, but this was still interesting. As for Megabus...jeez...what an absolute sht show.
Watching your informative videos makes me want to travel with British transport both bus and train. Having been a country representative and then a Capetown tour guide my mindset is to always hire a car and not use public transport.
I love Penzance. If i as a South African had to live in England i would live their. Its not as cold. Saw a good few plants that are found in Capetown. So the climate must be similar
Birmingham is not the safest of places, full of drunks, druggies and homeless. Oh not forgetting the beggars in and around the city centre! It is not a nice place
Rowdy kids on public transport are one of my my pet hates. Be it on aircraft, on buses or on trains, I dread the thought that I may have to share my journey with these inconsiderate families.
Do you want to know how you could do and get a poss of ten vids done for the price of about £255 or even less with what you do on this chanel you want to know idea?
Very disorganised company getting drivers to coaches I wanted at luton airport once 45minets,for a driver to get me to northampton, wich is about a40 minit jurney
One day on a Cardiff to London Megabus, the driver was a newbie and got lost! But he dropped us off at Fulham Broadway to get onwards travel, so that was a much preferable option to Victoria
With regarda to lorries on the road sundays, no reductions, no benefits just the fact the general public want goods 24/7 so basically us truckers have to make sure the trucks are delivering 24/7. Unfortunately the way of the world nowadays
Love the videos. I'd not recommend driving in Oxford, at the moment it's quite easy for the roads in and around the city to get gridlocked for assorted reasons. Not least as the Botley Road remains closed at the train station end, while Network Rail upgrade the train station and replace a rail bridge. They have fallen behind schedule, so who knows when that will be finished. If just visiting the city centre in Oxford, then most places are accessible on foot. Otherwise, the buses are a good option for getting around the city. The new electric buses Oxford Bus company have rolled out recently are excellent.
It is not against the law to photograph in a private place with public access. They will tell you that but they are wrong. ( I know he let you film later)
Loved the video! We live near Poole and often do this trip. Sometimes the tops of the open toppers are stored in a yard next to Swanage railway station, they have to take the lovely shiny rails off to put the tops back on. Another fantastic trip is the 40 from Poole to Swanage, via Wareham, Corfe Castle and Langton Matravers. This goes up Kingston hill and along the top ridge of the hill giving fantastic views of the Dorset countryside.
When I was at Oxford Poly in 1977 you could drive (or ride) into Central Oxford and easily park for free outside Blackwells. Things have changed since then.
