My SketchUp does not look like this when I open a new template. I went through the steps and the tool bar on the left doesn’t appear and I cannot move my sketch. Do you know how I can reset my program? Looking for any advice. It’s very confusing.
What's everyone's opinion on if I need the Sketchup Pro version for doing just one thing. To draw SHOPS by viewing a project's architectural drawings. I'll only ever need to draw SHOPS. Not design my own projects. Not create new things. Just draw Shops by looking at the architectural drawings, and my shops be used in the field for casework and countertop installations. What's the best program for drafting Shops?
When I try to export dwg linework, that when my pc gets slow and takes forever to export. I have a Ryzen 7 3800 8 core 3.60GHz + GTX 1660ti. + 32gb ram.
I'm using Sketchup 2017 to plan my basement home gym. I really just need the 2d floor layout , and then to add objects that represent gym equipment ( functional trainer, power rack, bench,) so that I can play around with different positions and orientations to see which configuration will work the best for my space. I only care about interior walls. Is Sketchup a good application for this use case?
I started sketchup free, but it wont let me enter any measurements or dimentions unless I pay to upgrade. I'm confused. You do it in your video - did they disable that function in the free version now?
Hi, SketchUp Free still allows you to enter measurements and dimensions, so I'm not sure what is going wrong for you. The best thing for you to do is send this message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will try to help.
Yes, in SketchUp you draw at a 1:1 scale. But then if you need to export your drawing at a specific scale, it would be best to use SketchUp Pro which comes with LayOut - that's the application that allows you to set drawing scales.
You are half right on the mouse. Wither go w/ vert ergo or a comfortable trackball. geometry only 3 things? is the new version even more corrupted than I would have guest? MIDPOINTS. 🐂💩 on groups. Components are far more user-friendly.
I definitely appreciate the tips, but way too much of this video is "people naturally do x because it's the intuitive thing to do, but you actually have to do y". The idea that SketchUp is intuitive is baffling.
It's more that many people are used to using other software that was designed for a different purpose, so switching to SketchUp can at first cause one to need to unlearn habits from other software.
Where is the link to the Getting started with Sketchup video that he has mentioned. Searching his list of videos isn't of much help as there are too many hits.
Hi, thank you for a very helpful video, I could easily sketch my bathroom. But how do I make the eraser not delete the tape measurement overlapping the same line? It's annoying having to re-measure it when I want to keep it after deleteing a line.
11:00 Couldn't figure out why the door wouldnt punch in/out. Then realized that the wall needs to be selected thru double click till a dotted outline shows up. Worked like a charm after that.

I am a contractor that want to turn a house from a pig to spectacular from making a rendering to making a blueprint . Which sketch-up should I buy and do I get training for this product and how long is the training and is there a support group
Ideally you would get SketchUp Pro (www.sketchup.com/en/plans-and-pricing/sketchup-pro) and then add the rendering software V-Ray for SketchUp (www.chaos.com/vray/sketchup). To learn both, we recommend you check out our Video Course Library: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library Of course, if you need more help getting started, please send a message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will be happy to help.
Thinking of getting Sketchup Edu for my 17 year old daughter who wants to do some landscape design - we're planning on learning this together. Is Sketchup ok for Landscape design?
Yes, SketchUp is a great tool for landscape design! If you need more help with resources for getting started, please send a message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will be happy to help
Hello there, I'm an architect working with a reputable landscape firm, primarily focused on creating models and visualizations using SketchUp software. Currently, I'm facing challenges with generating contour slopes accurately within the working area. Previously, I relied on the TopoShaper tool, but unfortunately, it's no longer available. I'm seeking a more effective solution for creating contour models. Could you please assist me with this?

Really good tutorial. Notice that BEFORE you cut the doors / windows, it is very important to establish the total HEIGHT of the house / floor. If you get that wrong, and try to scale / push/pull the walls, all the doors / windows will have a wrong size.
SketchUp Free's interface has changed slightly to the one shown in the video. If you need help making sense of the differences, please send this message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will try to help.
Hi I I am a landscape architect I need a software that can create landscape designs where up to date vegetations, flowers, trees, paving and all landscape components can be found. Amazing video! Thank you so much. I'm struggling with the door/window cut outs, cant seem to find the point where it says "on face" and automatically cuts the door out?? Had a look though the comments and I seem to be the only one struggling with this :/ Is there something I am missing??
I can pull the rectangle outwards but cant seem to push it inwards enough for "on face" to appear as shown in the video, however, if I push far enough then the shape pushes out the other side of the house!
yo does anyone have the model so i can get done with this i dont feel like doing this and my teachers assigned this to me please make it a model pookies ily all
I'm not a design professional, but I need to turn a 2D paper floor plan into a nice image that can be uploaded to a website so that people can see the room layout of what size house or flat. What do I need?
