All about picking locks and making tools. I pick mortice locks and make mortice pick sets but will do a few pin videos and run some giveaways for tools and locks. email me at chris-evanslockpicks@outlook.com
At last someone's come up with a better viewing window, I'm going to try it myself. Just a quick question how did you cut the aperture? Robbie from huyton Liverpool UK Lock mad😅
Where i work we deal in Key blanks and Accessories along with the cutting machines. I don't get to spend a lot of time studying the inner workings of locks, so this video has been fascinating, Now i get how it works and your special bit of paper is very handy. IL be sure to do something Practical with this information, IL be stripping down one of our test locks as soon as i'm back in work to have a look.
Hey thats very cool 😎 i like that idea!! I have my first 2 lever locks on the way the fortress like that one u have in this video and the squire 660❤ im gonna totally use that idea to learn the 5 lever one😊..also just subbed to ur channel im new and jus started up a channel also 😀 and i fuckin never heard anyone fuckin swear as fkn much as fkn u 😂u sound like me hahahaha! Off screen tho lol 😆 i try and keep it so all ages watch but i just love that u said fk it this is me and fk offff hahaha ur great mate❤and like the lesson on this lock very helpful thank you 🫡🙌
Very good! 3g110 very high security..BUT "pick and pin" tool has really made the 3g110 easy to open...I have know someone who can open these locks very quickly with pick and pin. The 3g110 pin and cam tool can also open this lock, but it is slow compared to pick and pin.
You find a lot of legge in Norfolk for some reason,on older buildings, again not a easy pick , thanks for sharing, i have a few of these to practice on
Chris, thank you very much for the excellent video. It was good to learn the name for each part of the lock and key. Also good to know the requirements for a BS lock. Great video, well explained.
Effing amazing, real eye-opener, thanks for sharing your knowledge mate, I’m gonna try this on my mums front door (she got dementia, can’t find the key anywhere), new lock would cost around £25, really don’t want to spend more money especially as the lock is perfectly fine Quick questions: (1) can I use a 3 lever key in 5 lever lock (and vice versa) and (2) can I get a key cut just from the order of levers in the lock eg. can I go to a key-cutter and just give him the lever number sequence 53357 for a replacement key?
This is great I was trying to figure out how my version of this lock is a Yale BS and you've got the model number! Thanks for confirming the Yale lever size is different too so i didn't order a wrong set. Also are you sure the Yale model number is 560 BS? When i google it it keeps coming up with sashlock?
It can be tricky to identify lever locks when in use because of their design. There are may references for pin tumbler keyways which can help identify a lock, or at least what sort of pick to try first.
Good video, showed me exactly what i needed. I have a really nice mortice/lever lock there i want to re-key. This helped me without any BS. Directly to the point. Thanks Chris.
@@chrisevanslockpicking9241 My pleasure. By using your video i managed to re-key a motice/lever i had laying spare. Well, technically i keyed alike it with another. I had old motice/levers laying around so stripped the parts out of those. That would have easily cost £120 (at least) if i took that in and told them i wanted the lock to work with said key. I was going to call for a quote just out of interest lol... I should actually, just out of pure curiosity. Anyway, if i do, ill let you know ;) Again, thank you for your video and your help, Chris.
Nice explanation as to why, but what are the actual measurements for the upstand? How far forward from the collar is correct distance to the near-side cut of the upstand? How far from the collar to the far side of the upstand, in thousandths of an inch? how wide is the base of it, and how wide should the top be? Thanks for the info. Would like to make my own, bang on rather than pissing about, trying to guess.
Hi Chris, sorry I am a bit late to the party with this but after watching your video I thought I would give it a go on the Vectis. I have been on this now for a week off and on. I am using a cut down key with a small picking wire. I just can't get a single lever to bind. I ended up taking the hard plate off so I could see what was going on inside. All levers lift no problem and look like they can go to full height. The levers are a 2, 1, 2, 6, 2 from memory. I can get under lever 4 easily enough and lift it but it just won't stay up no matter what tension I apply? No other lever will bind either? Please any ideas Matt What am I doing wrong?
Just a note it is a old lock that has been taken out a job, with no key but I can manually manipulate the levers to get the bolt through and the curtain will Unlock the lock.
