How do teams like Philadelphia have the funds to sign about 2 to 3 players to maximum contacts… When we can barely afford to pay one player like Miles Bridges🤔
Because Joel Embiid is the only player on the Sixers roster with a guaranteed salary above $2.1M. Hornets have several guys, Maxey still on his rookie cap hold
no tanking, charlotte must be done tanking and rebuilding. folks please do not forget, we are banking on growth of the team, not this draft pick. This pick is a bonus piece that WILL contribute.
No serious person thinks Charlotte will tank this year. Their main focus will be remaining healthy, to see where the current roster stands. Salaun will have time to develop, because his play (this year) will be the team's third or fourth priority.
@Dee-es5hx agreed, I still feel if they could have stayed healthy last year, much better team. I see at least 40 wins if everyone stays healthy, plus I think Lee and Peterson get it and will utilize pieces correctly
@davidbarber3821 agreed. I don't want to watch a tank but this new ownership group seems to have a plan. If Miles goes elsewhere I think you can for SURE say they are going for a quiet tank
It's clear that the Spurs had definite interest at #8 and the Spurs know more about French basketball than any other nba team. What's refreshing is that this pick was not a Kupchak pick. Mitch would've taken the safe choice rather than a swing for the fences. The Hornets will never escape mediocrity unless they have the stones to take high upside risks. Blocks are not that important if you can alter shots adequately.
So if charlotte picked Dalton knecht they wouldn’t be tanking? lol like what. y’all really think dalton would have made a HUGE difference in between the play in tournament and tanking?
Everyone will hate this but Tidjane S. reminds me a lot of Jaxon Hayes, but the verson of Hayes where he can shoot and has grit toughness, dog, work ethic.
I LOVE THIS PICK. Fit, Youth, Upside, Height, Wingspan, Heart, Hustle, Want to get better... and hes a better shooter than Matas, Holland, Sarr, Castle, Clingan, etc... This piece keeps you in the lottery next year when we could lose our first rounder. This new staff is one that specializes in development. They hang their hat on it and believe it will pay off. Coach Lee worked with Giannis and Tatum. He knows what makes a prospect like that pan out. Get Hype. The push towards dominance has BEGUN.
Did you Kevin Pelton's statistical prospect ranking? Dalton missed the top 30... Cody Barely made it. Reed 1, Clingan 2, Risacher 7, Castle 10.. I bet all 4 are gone by 6. Hornets should TRADE BACK... Richaun Salaun or Jakobe Walter or Tyler Smith or Kyshawn George. That's where I'm at.
You guys should ask why do players leave and make finals 2 stright years. Look at Martin what he did in Miami for us now he’s gonna get paid. For ur team he just never got used
Caleb received multiple chances, more than most UDFAs. After he was released he even said he agreed with it: “I looked at everything. Looked at my efficiency, looked at my percentages... I would have waived me too. I didn't blame them at that point. I was mad, then I was real about it." www.si.com/nba/hornets/news/caleb-martin-on-the-hornets-i-would-have-waived-me-too
Completely agree guys, with risacher likely gone he should be number 1 on our board by a wide margin. If this team is ever going to be relevant it has to start on the defensive end and Castle is the perfect player to set the tone in Charles Lee’s system.
Yep, apologies. There seems to have been an issue with the original audio so nothing we can do. We did manage to boost it on the full podcast audio which you can listen to here: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/all-hornets-podcast-network-for-charlotte-hornets-fans/id1626043802?i=1000659509529
It's just wild that Clingan is being even contemplated as a top 10 pick. His comp: Mark Williams (a much better free throw shooter) didn't even make lottery pick, yet despite Clingan's injury history he's still projected to go top 10. Either that speaks to how weak the class is or how out of sync the scout analysis is.
As a rockets fan I don’t think they do this. We don’t have any rotation minutes for Martin. And Jock contract is not guaranteed. Plus could probably get more from other teams looking to trade up.
I like Cody Martin when he's on the floor, but he seldom is. I'd do this in a heartbeat if I'm Charlotte. I don't think Houston will go for it though. Way too much injury risk with Martin. I just don't think he has much value because of that.
Carter will be the shock pick of the draft. Spurs could take him at 4 or the Hornets at 6. He will be a guy in the NBA! He’s not getting out of the top 10.
If they’re drafting him, it’s got to be because he has a high floor, and they know they’re getting a high end, off the bench guy. He’s not a starter on a playoff team. No knock on him, props to him for getting himself to this point, but that’s just the way the league is going.
NBA height measurements are routinely misrepresented. Your list doesn't include Steph Curry, Jalen Brunson, Terry Rozier, Tyrese Maxey etc... Kemba Walker would have made the cut as well as last year's coveted draft pick Scoot Henderson, Mike Connelly, Darius Garland. Even Donavon Mitchell is listed at 6'3" in shoes. Not buying what you're selling because as all the names above attest, talent trumps size.
The days of having a lineup like they had with Terry Rozier at the 2 spot need to be over for good. The Hornets should be trying to build one of the longest lineups in the NBA since they already have a 6'7 PG and a 6'9 SG. Why would you draft a 6'3 guy who can't start unless you want Rozier 2.0, and I hope they don't want that.
reed shot 13% points better than PP as a freshman to PP as a junior -- plays waaaay better ad than PP -- he's gonna shoot lights out against OG.... left open a lot? he shot 49% w a hand in his face james...
Yeah like he might end up being right… but how can anyone take this analysis seriously when it’s just factually not correct. Fred VanVleet was arguably HOU’s most important player last year. My guy is short af.
I’m ignoring all content about Devin Carter from this point on. No thanks, especially at #6. The fact that people are even talking about him like this reflects poorly on this draft class overall.
Omg so much passion on the scouting report specially on the negative way, Chase was over the top to get his negativity point across the line. Every player in this draft is not perfect, this guys is an offensive player, he needs to work on defense and playmaking, but I don’t think he is a liability as Chase was eluding too. What I will like to see is a matrix decision in terms of weight on what is important vs other potential draft players at 6. Knecht is not going to have the ball on his hands, and he will provide effort on defense.
NBA is transitioning to 3 point shooting and knecth can shoot and attack the basket. He can figure the defense out(he has the size/ability). He was dropping 30-40points in college so obviously wasn’t focused on defense as prime job. Castle/sheppard will be gone by 6 imo, so who else you picking? Clingan? I want knecth. Yea if we trade back to like 8-9 it would make more sense but from the mocks I’ve seen knecth goes earliest 5 and I’m convinced the spurs will pick castle 4 and at 8 they will select knecth so trading back to 9 won’t get you knecth.
Dalton Knecht is super intriguing as a player but man we need defense so badly. It’s hard to justify that pick without a clear plan to improve defense elsewhere.
