My only pause as a Hornets fan with the Stephon Castle scouting report (excellent defender, offense is a work in progress) is that it sounds eerily familiar to what said about Michael Kidd Gilcrest.
This pick would signal a change in draft strategy with the Hornets. Usually Charlotte picks players that have pizzaz more than substance. Think about it. MKG, James Bouknight, Malik Monk, even Nick Smith and Brandon Miller to a degree. With Stephon Castle you will be picking a winner and a guy that has solid mechanics w/ his jumpshot to make it respectable.
Hey. The best lineups last year had Brandon Miller at the 2. Clifford knew this, he will talk to Charles Lee about this. The league is getting taller. Castle wouldn't be a bad pick, but to unlock the potential of this team a tall shooter that can defend is the way. I'm thinking Matas, Riss, Cody Williams, and even Holland could help unlock the potential defensively as well. Imagine... Melo Miller Miles Matas Mark. That could be dangerous
I'm all for looking at lineup data, but last years' for Charlotte is useless. That said, I do agree Miller's best position could be at SG as that gives Charlotte a back-court with unique size. Matas is definitely an interesting name we will be looking at shortly
The question I have with Castle, would he be willing to sacrifice again? Recently he said that he is a point guard and want to play more in this role. I would love for charlotte Dalton Knecht, immediate plug and play , doesn’t need the ball on his hands and he is not a liability in defense.
There is no way Castle comes in and says "I should be playing PG instead of LaMelo" on day one. He will want to get on the court, he would do that by playing his role. If in years down the line he shows the ability to play PG at an equal or better level than LaMelo, then you make him the starter and trade LaMelo. I seriously doubt that happens, but he will have chance to prove it with the 2nd unit or when LaMelo is injured.
@@CharlotteHornetsOnSI oh, I heard he had non contact injury had to be helped off the court but I dunno if a team wants to pick a guy w multiple knee injuries so early in draft
@@SAINTxSZN Hey, if he can get to 33-35% (basically Miles Bridges level), but he gives us lockdown perimeter defense, rebounding from a guard spot, and secondary playmaking, he'll elevate this team big time. I don't see him as a PG at the NBA level - first step isn't quick enough to get by guys. But he can definitely play against a tilted defense.
if we pick castle we should trade melo -- melo, mark, and 2 unprotected 1sts for giannis or melo for AD -- im cool w castle -- then sign claxton as 5 w ad or giannis at 4 --- BOLD MOVES -- keep miles on like 4/80 castle,bm,miles,AD, clax is what im screamin from the mtn top
