You can find whale sharks in other parts of the Philippines like in bohol or albay where you go search for them on a boat on a guided trip and can then swim with them in the ocean.

Yeah, Oslob is very unethical. I wish more tourists were more aware with the conditions of the whale sharks there. Poor things. To people reading this, if you want to go see whale sharks ethically, please go to Donsol, Sorsogon. I went there myself last year and the local government of Donsol makes sure that they don't disrupt the migration patterns of these wonderful creatures. The whale shark watching is operated by the local government themselves so they can monitor the tours. If I'm remembering correctly, the tours are also monitored by the WWF. If you do decide to go to Donsol, please do your research. Look up the peak season of when the whale sharks are aplenty. Do take note that since this is ethical, there is no guarantee that you will see any whale sharks. You pay for a 4 hour boat ride where a Butanding (whale shark) Watcher will look for any sign of a whale shark. Once the watcher spots whale sharks, they will instruct you to go into the water to see these creatures. They are very strict with the distancing. You are not allowed to go really near the whale sharks and you are not to touch them. If you're lucky, you may even see dolphins! Unlike Oslob, the people in Donsol do not feed the whale sharks. They understand that it is paramount not to dull the whale sharks' natural instincts to hunt for food and not to disrupt their migration patterns. I wish more people talked about how devastatingly UNETHICAL Oslob is. Thank you for touching upon that subject.
