Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are alot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.

I haven't been to Japan but I did go to SE Asia and met lots of people who also went to Japan. Like you, I'd love to go so asked them all and the general answer was not as expensive as they'd thought like a hostel was like £7-£15 in Thailand but £12-£18 in Japan! Make sure you go to Koh Tao and allow more time as everyonneee stays longer than planned here
Just came back from two weeks and it really isn’t expensive. I stayed in budget hotels that averaged £25/30 per night per person. Food, drinks, activities all so affordable. Cheapest alcoholic drink was £2.30 and most expensive was a pint for £5 in the Asahi building which has a gorgeous view over Tokyo. Honestly add it to the trip and go whilst in Asia otherwise flights £1k+ and 14 hours! Japan is incredible x

I’ve saved enough for around £50 a day including accommodation food and tours. Some days I will spend more but some days I will spend less so this is just an estimate x
