Don't listen to the naysayers, pay no heed to them. At the end of the day you're living your dream. You have your partner with you and a lovely little lad and a beautiful home in a gorgeous location. Compare this to life here in the UK and how much it would cost you here to achieve the same quality of life with lousy weather. Here is wishing you all more happiness than you can dle. Oh btw you have new Cornish subscriber.
You've done brilliantly guys.. Love it and especially love the kitchen and bathroom areas. With every job, it's so easy to beat yourselves up as you see the niggles and faults in your own work, but most folk won't notice or care.. As far as furniture goes, you're spot on..there is very little out here that doesn't fall apart with woodworm 🤷🏻♂ We have a pile of stuff that will be burned when we're allowed to burn again at the end of the month. The house is your own creation and it's coming along so well since we first saw it.. 😊 I'm sure it'll evolve as it goes.. Take care 🙏 Loads of love from the Purple House 💜😻💜
@@ourderelictdream it's shuffling along yes..this afternoon brings more demolition work, but it's all in a good cause 😉 take care and enjoy your weekend 😊🙏❤️
Wow you must not know yourself. It took so long in your other house and now look what you have achieved. Amazing guys. I’m so grateful for your channel as i now live here because of the courage you gave me. However, you shouldn’t be made like crap by haters when your only trying to help people. You do whats best for you ❤
We're so glad you're back! You've both done an outstanding job in such a short time! We should be over in the next 6-8 weeks permanently - a long time coming, but hey! Did you manage to sort a discount code with Ilina in Pleven for the windows? I need to order those asap lol! More questions - where were your sofa and kitchen from - both look fabulous (you were a bit ahead on us, we don't even have the toilet, but need EVERYTHING doing!) Be proud of yourselves - Hudson is a credit to you both and the house looks fabulous x
@@NikkiJHaig thank you so much! We don't have any kind of discount/arrangement with the window company I'm afraid. Sofa and kitchen from videonov.bg, cheap and cheerful! Enjoy the journey with your project, thanks so much for your lovely words 😘
I've just found your channel, 😊your home is stunning ❤️ ❤️ I have subscribed so I'll binge your posts 😅 and as for people making nasty comments ignore them, there will always be sad pathetic nasty people but there is a lot more nicer people who watch you ❤❤❤

I am impressed to the point of envy! You have much to be proud of as you carve a rich and meaningful life out of a block of Bulgarian opportunity. A life on your own terms, in your own way is the best we can hope for on this earth. Yes, I am envious. 🙂
Thanks for commenting, we mentioned in the video we just don't know where we're at with a total cost I'm afraid but will be sharing future videos on prices of things!
Just a tiny piece of advice from me - if you intend to plant veggies, select the plot and pay some local to plough it with a tractor in November. May sound stupid but from what I can see in the video, the land hasn't been ploughed in years. You'll struggle to do your veggie patch plus your crops may not attach well. Plough it , put some ammonium nitrate (or animal dung) and prep for spring ( nan used to grow the seeds over the winter on the windowsill, then in spring prep a greenhouse with a bed of animal dung and let them grow even bigger and stronger before transferring them to the ground). She used to to put a lot of animal dung in the soil prior to putting them down. Don't get my word for it tho, I used just to help her when I was a kid ;)
This is so lovely of you to share this local advice. We don't feel ready yet for growing, we may start some small raised beds next year for now until we work out what we want from the garden. It is very sloped so we have to manage that! Thank you 😍
@@ourderelictdream I noticed it's sloped. A good digger driver can amend that in a few hours. But as you still have work to do inside ( sealing and filling door frames, loft insulation etc) I guess you're not there yet. Still tho, if you like spring salads and onions ( not much work involved, unlike tomatoes and peppers) you can prep a small patch with a shovel. I used to do for my nan about half an acre ( some bits with local friends, eg the potatoes patch) . Child labor wasn't a thing in the past xD. She passed away in 2011 but last time she prep a garden was like 2008( she was too unwell since, working with the land all her life). Bulgarian childhood was very simple and hardworking xD we used to joke that village life is five working plus two sweating days xD Life used to be cheap and relaxing. Then we joined the EU and things went mad. Nowadays people have better life standards on paper but it's just on paper.when I was growing up , a beer was 40 stotinki in a bottle of 0.5l, a bread was 50 stotinki. We didn't have much and yet they were far happier times without much stress :)
@@svetoslavtodorov2427 yes we've had a digger in already for ground works, we'll get to looking into the outside next year, this is a long project for us. We do plan to grow but for now I really enjoy supporting all the locals and buying from the village markets our produce. What wonderful memories you must have of your time with your Baba, thank you for sharing
Hudson looks so much like Lee. The house is looking lovely, you've worked very hard. The bathroom & kitchen are stunning. It's about time you had a lovely home to enjoy and grow. We hate talking money, but also understand why people want to know.
Thank you so much for appreciating how far we've come! We started keeping a log of how much we spent as we know we will be asked, but lost track..we will sit down and try and give a better idea in a future video as I know so many people are keen to understand costs of such projects.
Hi to the lee family.been watching from the very 1st video you posted, I'm so impressed with all the hard work and sacrifice you have shown through the hard years. Hopefully early next year I will be looking to buy a house in bulgaria. Please keep the video's going as I look forward to seeing them. Best wishes to the lee family.
Wonderful progress - congrats - the house is beautiful! 😍 Have you thought about solar + power banks to cover power cuts? Some rooftop panels and a power bank (I have the EcoFlow Delta Pro which you can add extra batteries to and will run most household stuff) would keep the house basics going for days - benefit of no noise either. Initial set up quite expensive but having that backup in BG winters is great!😅
Yes absolutely, it is definitely something we want to invest in, just not quite there yet financially for this winter, but part of our long-term plans for the property for sure! Thank you so much for watching and commenting
Just watched your video, what a fabulous job you've done. Love the shower. We've lived here for 7 years now, and it's great to see young people enjoying this life. All the very best xx
Wow!!! You've done an absolutely fantastic job with the house! Thank you for the tour, this video was well worth the wait. :) Side question just out of curiosity - how's Hudson doing with the nursery being in Bulgarian?
Thank you so much for lovely comment and glad you like it! We are lucky to have found a small private nursery with a Bulgarian and English speaking teacher so they can communicate well and hopefully he will pick it up over time.
love everything in the video, love the floor in the kitchen, wished we had done this to ours and also the wall in the shower. Superb. Amazing it really is. When we work on ours for 2 weeks in the hot sunshine in summer, we know how hard and difficult it is. Wish we were there fulltime, rural Bulgaria is beautiful. Take care
Hi Jean & Mel,your house looks great, ignore nasty comments they are just jealous. Good to see you back, we can clearly see what you have both been doing. Xx
What a beautiful home you've made from this shack of a house! I really admire you for your bravery to take on such a difficult project! Im happy you chose Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and want to welcome you here!
This video was randomly recommended to me. If 'Don't judge a book by its cover' was a house, it'd be yours. The inside is gorgeous and it's obvious how much work was put into the home. I'm proud of y'all and wish y'all all the best moving forward!
You're doing a great job with the place, and you have every reason to take pride in it. I think Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and one day when you take a holiday it would be nice if you made a video tour. I look forward to seeing more progress. Cheerio!
Thank you for your kind comment. We rarely travel to Sofia unless heading to the airport, are closer to the city of Veliko Tarnovo, maybe one day we will do more travel type videos!
It's great to see you back! Don't let one negative comment get you down! The majority of us are here because we love seeing your journey and that beautiful home you've worked so hard on. It's absolutely stunning, and your life in Bulgaria looks amazing! Keep doing what you're doing - you're inspiring so many of us! 👏🏡💪
