after searching that game for 6 whole years without remembering the title of the game i enjoyed so much in my early childhood finaly found the game. brings back so many memories and it pains me i cant play anymore
played war for the overlord few days ago... And i have to say that if this game is kinda recreation of original DK - its not even close to DK in bad way. Most of the Campaign is time limited, i cant chill by training creatures or doing your business. FOR ALL CAMPAIGN I DIDNT EVEN ONCE POSESSED A CREATURE while this thing were one of my fav things in DK. also your own creatures means nothing as you constantly corrupt npc creatures that is constant 2x lvl than yours bcz again u cant train them bcz of time limits. So the war for the overlord is only mimic of a fraction of DK power
Dungeon Keeper is one of my all time favorite games. I've beaten it only a handful of times. Even knowing where things are, and what to expect, sometimes it is just a brutal game, and the enemy shows no mercy. Love the soundtrack as well as the narration from the DK's assistant.
Ah I love this game so much. My top tip is to look out for payday, and to grab handfuls of gold to drop onto your most expensive creatures. They forget about payday and will go back to whatever they were doing. I haven't played KeeperFX but it works on the original game!
Oh, and almost every level has a Transfer Creature special in it somewhere, so you can take a powerful level 10 from level to level to level. Huge help in some of the tougher ones where you get assaulted immediately.
Training imps to level (3/4?) gives them the Speed spell, making them doubly effective. They get Teleport at level 10, but that's too much investment. Just drop half of them in the training room, slap / accelerate them regularly until level 3,then let them loose and bring the rest in.
Yes, it's good, but it has ONE big flaw: If you assure that your dungeon has only one entrance, all you need to do when you are attacked is to grab all of your units and plop them down at your chokepoint. Even if you have more than one entrance or if the opponent/heroes manage to break a new one, battle will very soon take place in a single location. Being able to drop your entire army wherever you want (within your dungeon) makes a lot of things redundant: You don't actually need to design a proper dungeon, don't need to break your head where to place their beds or how to centralize things or where to put guard posts because the respond time to all threats will always be the same: The amount of seconds it takes you to click/press the correct shortcuts and makros. Essentially, Dungeon design doesn't matter, one giant room with all traps at the entrance is enough. If your army gets beaten you are dead anyway, regardless of how you designed everything else.
Yes it’s my fav game of all time now. Beating all previous rps and rdr2 the last of us and loads others. I have played 860 hours of BG3 and it’s stunningly amazing. The music, the story, the freedom of choice, and the cinematic dialog. It’s all top of the line. You quoted saying Elden ring was the last you felt that way, I loved Elden ring but it paled in comparison for me. This game made me love gaming more than ever and I’ve been gaming for 30+ years.
Fun fact about boulder traps. They aren't actually an instakill. They do dps, its just that they do so much damage so fast that you can't tell. I know this because years ago, pre keeper fx, I was playing the first level of deeper dungeons. Possessing a lvl 10 horned reaper I was clearing out the section of the left side of the map that leads to a reveal map secret box. I was knocking down a magic door and wasn't really paying attention. So when the door broke and the boulder trap behind it activated I almost didn't react fast enough. But, I backed up just in time. My reaper got touched by the boulder trap and was sent to a tiny sliver of health. I got hit, and lived. To say I was in shock is an understatement. I remember calculating the dps of the boulder trap later out of interest, but I don't remember how or what i came up with. I think how boulder traps work has been changed a bit in keeper fx because this has happened to me several times in recent memorie with knights and reapers, and my health usually gets sent to half or somewhere around there instead of almost none. Whereas I only remember a single instance of this happening to me before keeper fx. If you don't believe me, go ahead and grab a lvl ten reaper, find an enemy boulder trap, and play chicken with it for a while. It may take a few try's but I promise you its possible.
Great choice of game's, just got my 34" ultrawide 1440 monitor today and the new system with a RTX4080super is on it's way, I can't wait to try them in ultrawide as I own most of these game's.

My brother bought the game and described it to me years later. It sounded hilarious (youre the "bad guy") and I always wanted to play it since. He gave me the game box but he didnt know it was missing the game.
i dont have ultrawide monitor yet but mostly i play games with ultrawide resolution(with black bar in corner) but hey. thanks to VR headset now i can play in better ultrawide experience in virtual monitor😂
u can build a lair a hatchery gold room and training room for ur horned demons door them off drop gold to them the most ive had was 4they wont get angry as long as there alone pull them out for combat
Nice recommendations❤ I just have one doubt about the aspect ratio. I dont have ultrawide monitor but i have shifted to 3 monitor setup for gaming and aspect ratio is 32:9 something.. Will i be getting the same experience as a good ultrawide monitor
I love that game from my childhood, and i love horned reaper very much, i create maximum of them woth no doubt. I even create that nickname horned reaper in all my later games 😊
It is possible to keep the Horned Reaper under control, there is ONE job he will do that is manning the guard post. Assign him that and he won't get bored or angry, and will not rampage.
He also trains, researches and scavenges. But most players put him in the temple, that only keeps him happy but makes him happy too. (Unless he is too far gone).
Here in 2024, this was the first Gacha game I've ever played (I was like 11). I had a whole team full of elemental fairies and I used to farm a lot for them to get to the last evolution. Unfortunately, only one of them got to the last evolution, and then, the game was shutting down. I remember being devastated by those news.
Shortly after the game launched in 97 they pushed a patch that fixed a bug with the keeper AI, however most people (myself included) had no idea and never downloaded it. The bug would cause enemy keepers to become passive and basically do nothing. Keeperfx includes this bug fix
Stealing a thief in flowerhat was always my favourite as a kid, train them past level 10 to a knight and transfer it and solo everything with possession. Fun times.
I actually came stumbling in to this video because I remembered Dungeon Keeper 2 and playing it when I was a wee lad. Was debating snagging a copy and just wanted to get a feel of the game first.
