I love ur videos I’m going to Sydney on Friday is there a chance to get a updated video on the Meriton suites on George st plz like the street and inside and check in plz thank u :)
I live 4km from there on the Northern Beaches. Yes it has a diverse range of restaurants and quick 20 min train to the City. However, if you like a crowded mall, car traffic everywhere with cars beeping horns all the time, pollution, people pushing in and taking other people parking spots, people treating staff in shops with a lack of respect, loud trains and loud metro, this is the place for you.
The Eastwood I grew up in is totally unrecognisable now. It looks like Chinatown. When I went to school there is was completely Anglo now you would be lucky to find one Anglo person living there. Just goes to show how quickly Sydney has changed. Truly multicultural
Marrickville road church (10.00) is St Clements Church. Two of my brothers and myself were all married in there. My next eldest brother was married there in 1960 and his reception was held in the Marrickville Town Hall diagonally opposite, I was married in St Clements in 1967 and my younger brother married there in 1970. My eldest brother was married in St Brigids Church, just up the road, on the corner of Livingston Road and Marrickville road back in about 1958. We lived at Dulwich Hill from 1952 till 1986. Both Marrickville and Dulwich Hill were my old stamping grounds. The family first moved to Dulwich Hill in 1918. So much has changed in the last 38 years, but that goes for the whole of Sydney. I live up on the north coast NSW now and was down for a rail tour last October (2023) and was at Chatswood, hasn’t that changed since the 1960s. I see there is still a Greek fish and chip shop in Marrickvillethere. They were bloody good as I recall. We used to have Fish and Chips every Friday night back in the late 1950s and early 1960s from Angello’s Fish Shop down closer to Victoria Road on the southern side of Marrickville Road. Not there now. Thanks for posting, you bought back a heap of memories. Cheers.
Right at the beginning is where the Robin Hood Hotel used to be , like Parramatta it has lost its charm someone else moved in from far away . The arcade near LJ Hooker downstairs in the 70's was a pool room called the "HOLE" . Near the Kerbab shop was BOW,s Chinese best Chinese Take Away until recently was there more than 50 years . The black fence was the Black Stump and a swimming pool sales had pools in the ground there. On the corner opposite the TAFE was Mitchell and Townsend Holden dealers on the other side Mc Donalds before they moved to Third Ave , before Maccas in the early 70's it was called Open House famous for the Pal Dog Food Scandal in the burgers
People often say, “I’m not hurting anyone so it’s ok to sin (lying, stealing, sexual sins, disrespecting parents etc)” The same God who said to love your neighbour first said to love Him to the best of your ability. If you carry on sinning, then you do not love God but are selfish like the devil so you will be joined to your father in hell or repent of your sins and believe in Jesus as God so Jesus adopts you as His child and you will join Him in Heaven forever.
Another great video! thanks for sharing, used to be my stomping ground back in the 80's. I worked at Pyrmont and would get off at Town Hall and catch a bus out, then back into the city to meet friends for drinks at Centerpoint Tower. 😎
I would like to thank you SO vey much for this. I have mobility issues and cannot walk that far. I used to shop in Blacktown with my Mother back in the 60's and have always wondered what it was like nowadays. 😎
