When it came to beating this boss last night I had a pretty good team. I was level 23 and had: - Ame-No-Uzume - Momunofu - Take-Minekata My stupid ass had Shiranui, the Magatama with FORCE WEAKNESS. I was hit hard constantly but thankfully Ame-No-Usume had force block, making Matador's turn instantly end. She was fused with High Pixie (the OG pixie so she's not gone forever) and Archangel. The debuffs and buffs from her helped too! Thankfully Take-Minekata also had debuffs and buffs from the Shikigami and Lillim I fused together. It was funny seeing such a powerful demon have a shit-ton of debuffs. I had to heal him a few times but he was fine Now Momunofu is actually the real fucking MVP... because Momun had BRIGHT MIGHT thanks to the Bicorn and Kodama... Or was it a Bicorn and a Hua-Po? Who knows. The reason why Bright Might was so good was because normal attacks always turn into critical hits on a Full Moon. Momunofu helped me get one consistent extra turn each time he hit Matador. Anyways my strategy was to constantly debuff Matador with me and Uzume, then Minekata would increase physical attack and hit chance, and Momunofu looked pretty just hitting Matador for increasing increments of 100 damage. So what if I was weak to Mazan? MOMUNOFU WAS MY MVP, I LOVE HIM This game is so fucking awesome it lets me experiment and fuck around with silly strategies. I thought I was fucking toasted but my ass was saved by my own quick thinking.
Playing nocturne hd and man I'm honestly kinda dreading having to fight this guy because of all the stuff I've heard, though I have been doing pretty well so far at least

The funny thing is this game is way easier than its numbered predecessors; I played SMT2 completely blind and only died once, and that to only to the first boss.
SMT fans: *PTSD* G Gundam fans: *The undefeated of the East!!! The winds of the king!!! Zenshin! Keiretsu!! Tenpa Kyouran!!! Look!! The east is burning red!!*
I was overlevled as hell for this fight, like 23 or 24 which I feel like is higher than what's expected, and had some good demons yet Matador still nearly one shot my team with his physical attacking move in the second phase. I did manage to beat him first try on hard but I was scared for a bit.
This was my first smt game and my friend was telling me how its basically turned base Dark Souls. So when I started playing I was like this game is easy and that bro was over hyping it until I fought this mf and got completely destroyed lol. I do agree that Matador is easy once you know how to fight him then again same things can be said about any bosses including souls games.
Yep. it was smooth sailing for me up until I got to Matador. And like this video, I was scrambling through my menu options, getting frantic from the music, and watching my allies (most with Force weaknesses) just get massacred. 😭😭😭
matador is basically an optional DLC boss that's too hard for the point of the game you unlock it at so you're supposed to come back later unless you want a difficult challenge. Of course the issue is that they put him in the one hallway you havee to go through to progress.
It's funny people told me this was really tough and it was. But then after I did it after several tries some people said it was easy. Crazy honestly lol
He's here to test your understanding of how the game mechanics REALLY works. If you have alredy acclimated to them in normal play, and DON'T have a team which main weackness is force, he is "just another boss"
Yup matador is the "you're gonna learn today boy" boss and i love him for that. The only way to get past him is understanding how to aproach the game properly.
The nocturne tutorial is infamous for just doing that to people. I'm on my 2nd playthrough rn (hard) and I died more times in the tutorial than at any boss I've fought so far (random encounters have been the real killer so far tbh)
