Maplestory was one of the fondest sets of memories I had. Taught me basic economics and how to be a small-time entrepreneur, a kind citizen who would help lower leveled players gain xp, someone who would pawn off my lower leveled items that I no longer needed. All in all, one of the best gaming communities I've ever experienced. All vibes, no hate, just chillin on the boat together talking with others waiting to arrive to our next destination.
I still miss playing this game till this very day. I love coming back to this playlist to reminisce about the stuff I did on there. I really wish this game continued in global, what a hidden gem this was.
Man I remember when I was playing with my best friend and we were in a trolling mood. So we defamed one random mage guy and screamed at each other RUN RUN RUN! Then we looked at the mini map and saw someone teleporting towards us. At that moment we knew it had to be him, so we teleported to another town..... and sure enough, the blip on the mini map came closing in again! This went on for like 15 minutes till he eventually caught up and defamed us. God...... good times. We were crying from laughter. This is but one of those great memories we have with this game.
Man I'm not gonna doubt how many things wrong there was in ms2 And there was alot, an INSANE amount of problems that, if were fixed sooner, could've kept the game alive for a little bit longer. All that said, compared to the trash 1 button grind that we still have right now.. Ms2 had so much life in it, this is still what I think of when it comes to mmos. Bossing, dailies, weeklies, mini games, meeting people and chilling..
This is the first computer game I ever became completely addicted to. Me and my friend would take turns playing a few minutes each on one computer. When we were older we would bring our computers to each others houses and have LAN parties, just playing maple for hours. I dont have my old account but when i played back in the day it took so long to level and there were only a few classes. I had a lv 40 something page that was my highest lvl and it took me ages to get that high. My friend had a lv 70 something dexless sin. Times were good. I remember grinding in sleepywood, doing kerning and ludi PQ. Actually having ingame friends. Maple still scratches an itch for me when i play every now and again. But it's not the same. There's no one to talk to, no community that i've found at least. You get a char to lv 200 and abandon it, it's not like before. We all change and so has the game, i dont think any of us really have the time to spend 10hrs a day grinding for one lvl anymore. Let's just remember and cherish the nostalgia <3
We must be glad the memories happened and the moments are being remembered by so many! It is better than wallowing in what once was, or what could be currently. It just is. And sometimes that's how things should be viewed!
The older I get the more bittersweet thinking about older maplestory and seeing the community being nostalgic about it everything gets. Somehow for me back then felt more like the real world than it is now. I felt more real, the emotions thoughts and experiences were all so significant. I don't know why I'm crying as I'm writing this but I am. I can only wish the people I met and the community that once existed will still remain in many hearts
I feel the same. I started playing maplestory when I was 11 4-5 years before the big bang update. My older brother was very protective and made sure I was not exposing any private info to strangers online especially since I was a very young girl at the time, but honestly the community at the time was so wholesome most of the time that I never had issues with anyone being inappropriate with me (which I have encountered in basically every other game I've played where people discovered I was a girl). I was able to just fully throw myself into the game and have so much fun playing solo or doing PQs with my brother and his friends, who were all so welcoming and encouraging. I started falling off the game not long after the big bang update, but maplestory was such a huge part of my daily life for YEARS. I even used a cheap voice recorder I got as a hand-me-down during the time I was actively playing, which I used all 10 slots to record music from my favorite maple story maps to listen to later. I'm so grateful and happy to now have so much easy access to maplestory music these days. I tear up sometimes listening to it as well when the nostalgia for those times aches in my soul. I get my fix of the OG maplestory sometimes by playing on private servers that are pre-big bang occasionally, but without the old community its just not the same vibe.
The community wasn't always nice. Greetings to the 3 blokes who randomly -1 famed me because I had about 15 other fame points anyway. You guys made my day.
I never grew up on this video game because I was never allowed to own a pc at home as a kid... but I distinctly remember how relaxing the music was when I watched my friend play Maple story. If I can go back in time I would love to play this game as a kid :D
This shit gonna make me tear up, loved ms2 so sad it had to end :( If I ever get rich enough, mark my words, I'm bringing this shit back or we coming out with ms3
I loved this game and the people, but it became so painful after CDEV. Literally no parties will take you if you have subpar gear so it's impossible to get better.
I will always remember the words of the elders in the Temple of Time, perhaps just a word game of philosophy and logic. He said: Do you record for memory, or do you not want to forget for the sake of recording.
Wouldnt it be so great if everyone who used to play maplestory back in 2005 to 2010, just came back to play for old times sake? I tried to play again recently and it is not the same :(
