I'm watching to do the same thing. I have an old KJV version I have owned since I was around 12 years old. I'm now 50, and it has been well-read. The cover came off a long time ago. This video, I believe I can redo it.
Nice table, well I think the video is very informative I think that it is besmirching the original table a little bit. Installing the original work platform only takes about a minute and yes it is a little bit of a hassle but it does work. The new table looks like an easier install but probably not as robust when doing large items because of the single anchor point versus four anchor points with the original table. The benefit of the new table and it's built-in edge guides is a very interesting thing which may add a level of versatility to the table system. But as you mentioned in the video the dropdown edge guide works perfectly well. Well I think the new table is an interesting thing I probably wouldn't invest in it considering I already have the original table. Now it's an Apple's to apples comparison how much does it cost to buy the new metal table or the original table and if buying for the first time one of them being cheaper that would help the decision factor. Thank you for making the video I found it informative.
Hi Ricardo, at this time I am not rebinding Bibles as I am too busy making leather Bible carrying cases and leather Bible sleeves. Thank you for asking!
Love your rebind videos! I have just began my journey into rebinding as a hobby. 1. The duct cloth used for spine reinforcement, is that book cloth in particular or some other product? 2. How does one shop for the inside cover liner material, is it just a thinner piece compared to the exterior cover leather?
How do you create that marbling effect? I have searched everywhere I could think of to find an instructional. Closest I've gotten is the shaving cream method but I still find that leaves empty spots. If you could please point me in the right direction as I am trying to make my own bible and one for my kids. Amazing work!
I used veg tan goatskin and then wad it up into a ball to put crinkles in the hide. Then mix the dye 50/50 with rubbing alcohol. Then use my airbrush and spray it. I go over it as many times as needed to get the desired effect that I am looking for. You can always spray more for a darker color. Hope this helps.
@@agapebibles7704 thank you so much! I'm actually looking to buy one of your bible cases here soon. In about a week or 2. I pray God continues to bless you in all that you do! Have a blessed day!
Hey brother awesome piece of craftsmanship !! If you don’t mind me asking I’m trying to work out the kinks for a hot foil stamping machine I got but it’s not quite dialed in yet haha what type of paint did you use or would suggest to paint the letter in and did you blind stamp prior to coloring in ? Appreciate your time either way (I’ve looked high and low cause I hate to ask people things when they have the experience and time put in but running low on letter options haha) God bless either way and keep up the good work love to see the rebind of Gods word in something durable as it should be!
This was before I bought my Howard hot foil stamping machine. I blind stamped each letter then used Angelus Acrylic paint to paint inside the stamp. I used a very thin brush and thinned the paint with water and put several coats on so it would sink into the leather. A hot foil stamping machine work better and faster. I set my temp at 150 F and works like a champ.
I appreciate your time Mr Compton and thanks for the reply, honestly! A lot of this I see comes with time and experience; like this one I believe you said around 2:20ish that at this point the Liner was already tabbed on/attached to the block (would it be in 2halves ?).. which is what I was trying today to place block spine down, onto cover/leather and fold yalls to ideal spots and mark them trying to make up some time! But God bless and once again appreciate your time and thanks for sharing !
Awesome work brother I’m recently saved and started doing Bibles myself and my goodness what a journey it has been haha I have a lot of respect for the work and attention to detail that goes into Rebinds but that’s how it should be since it’s the word of God ! If you don’t mind I was just curious, I’ve tried several things but nothing consistent that has came out quality like I hoped but what do you use for the curve on your corners ? I’ve tried quarters and washers and mason jar caps haha i feel bad asking really because I kno the time and dedication to perfect this craft takes a while but would appreciate any little peice of feedback but if not that’s fine too ! But God bless and continue the good work and take care !!
Corners are a bugger to learn how to do. I finally bought a cheap circle template that has many diameters of circles. Then experimented with what diameter of circle to use for the liner then increased the size for the cover so that the cover circle was about 1/2 inch wider than the liner circle so I could pleat it.
