Rassie named the bench the bomb squad to give them purpose, he said u guys are the ones who I send on to defuse the bomb is things are going wrong. It became the benches mantra. He then started playing around with numbers. We know it as 6/2 as that’s his most often choice but no it can be any combination. Nuke squad is 7/1 tho 🤣
Thanks so much for the support and hope you enjoy! Check us out on Instagram @sarugbyoke - 24k followers there to check what the future of this channel will look like 👍👍
Might need to rewatch bud, Rassie can’t pick them as they made the Semi Final (and now the final) so wouldn’t be able to attend training… kinda the point of the whole video… 🤣
Great take guys. For future references, it's not pronounced Ah-fe-lele. It's actually Ah-Phe-lele. With a P. I'm guessing he has brothers. The name is usually given to the last born male. Aphelele Amadodana. Meaning we have enough men.
Stop the clickbait bullshit, there is no MUST for Dr Rassie Erasmus. You have 259 subscribers so maybe first go make a name for yourself as a rugby coach before telling him what he MUST do.
All Fassi hype, you blokes must be Sharks supporters? The guy is still the same ol Fassi with the same old weaknesses and problems to his game. His defense continues to be abysmal at best. He is not Bok material, accept it🤣
Definitely not sharks fans! But love rugby and can give credit where credits due, he’s has a fantastic season in a really tough environment … to add to that Rassie obviously thinks so too! Thanks for watching again! Drop us a subscribe so u can tell us how much we get wrong on the next vid too 🤣👊
Marx HAS to be in the squad? Its like saying water is wet🤣. Marx probably one of, if not the 1st name on the list. Seems a copout... as if ran out of names for your list of 5🙈
Ha yup, if you maybe rewatch u will see it’s the reason he has to play in the exhibition match against wales…. Not an important match against a poor team in a non test game… the importance is for his match fitness. If he was not injured I would never play him and risk injury in a one off game that’s not official! Hope that makes sense! Thanks for the support Matthew!
Great list. I really think we need to develop and build depth at the flyhalf position with the likes of Siya M, Jordon H, & Sacha. We saw again this weekend that Manie battles with consistent kicking. In test and knock-out rugby that wins you the games. We cant go into another world cup and only have Handre Pollard at age 33 that can deliver on the big stages.
Thanks for the reply and insight! Very exciting things to come with the young guns coming in! Can’t wait to see them play too! Hope you enjoy the content and please give us a subscribe if you haven’t so you don’t miss the next one!
You guys are crazy picking Fassi. Doesn't belong anywhere near a bok jersey. Unless you want a weak defense. If you do then yes he's your man. The rest of the guys I'm 100% in agreement with
Think that’s a slightly harsh critic of a player who has had a stand out year! While I agree he’s not first choice, with the two main ones out a not a lot of other option he is head and shoulders above the rest! Glad you like the content and thanks for supporting the page!
@@RugbyOkes Sacha and Quan are head and shoulders above Fassi IMO. But each to their own. And I'm always open to Fassi proving me wrong. Will be happy to eat my words. Wouldn't be the first time I got it wrong hahaha. And I just hit that subscribe button
Fully Agree with Masuku, he's been the find of the season in the 10 jersey! Nohamba is another great shout, Rassie loves a versatile player! Super keen to see if Fassi can show his best form in a bok jersey!
@francoiswilliams thanks for the reply Francois. Indeed he has a great two seasons with the cheetahs earning his spot in a URC franchise. No disrespect to free state or indeed EP before that. But at the Sharks he has hit the bok radar after what must be said was a slow start for him in durb! Thanks for the support and hope you enjoy the content 👍
@@paullouw4524 Hi Paul thanks for the comment, as per the start of the video its not a top 10. Its just a blind ranking of a mixed group of players to make it more difficult for George! hope you enjoyed and keep an eye out for the next one!
Where's Fourie Du Preeze and Naas Botha? - The best backs of the professional and amateur era. We never got to see Naas Botha play in a world cup. Wonder what would have happened if we saw Naas Botha, Danie Gerber, Michael du Plessis and Carel du Plessis in the 1987 and 1991 world cups. Would the 1995 world cup have been as significant had the springboks been allowed to compete in the first two instalments? - There is no question that had these backs been playing in 87 & 91 that 95 would have been our third world cup NOT our first. Gerrie Germishuys was also phenomenal in the 1981 tour to New Zealand. Maybe there is more merit in having two separate lists - One for the amateur era and one for the professional era. How do you compare Naas Botha to Handre Pollard? - They are both generals of the game and match winning kickers, but their makeup is completely different. Naas Botha has won 11 Currie Cups and Handre Pollard is the reason why the boks won back-to-back world cups. That's like comparing Muhammad Ali to Mike Tyson. Also, a big fan of Habana but I like Cheslin Kolbe a bid more - he is the strongest case for sevens rugby players getting game time in the 80-minute format. I dare say if it had not been for Chelin Kolbe's selection we never would have seen Kurt-Lee Arendse in a Springbok jersey. Raw talent is not defined by size. However, if I had to pick one back line player who is perhaps the most committed and the perhaps the GOAT besides Fourie Du Preeze It's Jean De Villers - a captain who suffered injury after career ending injury but just kept inspired greatness because he just kept going. He has the 100 plus caps to prove that he is perhaps the GOAT of all backline players. Again, you have to compare amateurs to amateurs and pros to other pros. My two top picks for amateurs: Naas Botha & Danie Gerber. My two top picks for professional: Fourie Du Preeze & Jean De Villers.
Thanks so much for such a great response! Unfortunately it wasn’t a top 10 players ever or those two would arguably been on the list. It was just a group of players be be blind ranked! Hope you enjoyed and please subscribe to get more S.A. Rugby vids and content!
Thanks for the reply! Yup there’s lots of better players in lots of different positions. As said in the start of the vid it’s not a top 10 players list it’s a group of players to be blind ranked! Hope you enjoyed! Keep a look out for our next vid as by the sounds of things u will like it!
@@RugbyOkes yes 100%. You made it clear it ls not a “all time” legends list. In my comment i was more thinking out loud how I would play this game strategically. My strategy would be: since I never know what GREAT names you will announce, you might even get a JDV or a Fourie dp. So as soon as you get an adi and Ricky, rather put them lower down.
@@wernerjoubert-thechristian1961 How would your full list look? bearing in mind George didnt get the luxury of knowing whos coming next ... He struggled with the stress lol!
@@RugbyOkes Firstly I saw my initial post read wrong. I finished with "You know there are better scrum-halves?". I didn't mean to put that question mark there for you. This is how it should have read: If I was playing blind rankings, and the name Adi/Ricky came along, I would place them lower on the list since I would guess that you could've selected stronger scrumhalves. sorry that ? changed my tone. I 100% understand the game and like it. anycase here is my list: 1-Bryan 2- Handre 3-Cheslin 4-Joost 5-Rolls royce 6-Jacques 7-Damian 8-Honibal 9-Ricky 10- Adi Hindsight is 20/20. Totally unfair to George! looking forward to the next one. keep it up
Adi Jacobs was a joke. Where is Fourie du Preez De Villiers Andre Esterhuizen Percy Montgomery. I know that is a list randomly selected therefore the comment and my selection should not be seen as criticism except for Adi Jacobs, he was really awful. He is definitely in the top 10 worst players ever to play for SA. JOOST should be one with Habanna in second. Please take note that the Springbok backlines of the 70 and 80 will definitely replace the majority of this list e.g. Danie Gerber Ray Mordt Carel Michael and Willie du Plessis, mannetjies Roux Gysie Pienaar Johan Heunis Naas Botha Syd Nomis Piet Visagie Jaco Reinach Hermanus Potgieter Joggie Jansen. Lastly a player that was immensely prejudiced due to his versatility is Ruan Pienaar. Werner Swanepoel James Small Chester Williams Errol Tobias. In short a list compiled could represent in part an objective acceptability but the subject view will in most occasions compromise the credibility of a list or a part thereof. These lists remain fun and will stimulate response and that is probably the idea and or concept thereof.
Brother. Thanks for the effort in the comment but you missed the whole point of the video. Hope you still enjoyed it and watch out for the next one, will be more to your liking I’m sure.
@RugbyOkes Not better than Cheslin sorry mate but maybe Damian De Allende would've been a better option to swap cause Habana and Kolbe are the greatest springbok players to play the game in history of south africa anything other than 1 or 2 for them is just incorrect
That felt much harder than the forwards, lots of hard men in the forwards vs very different styles and positions in the backs. Gotta make harsh sacrifices early and fill them bottom slots, always some juicy names to come.
Yeah it definately ramped up in difficulty in the second round. If you have any suggestions for our blind ranking topics for the up coming videos do let us know!
i thought 10 was going to be Victor Matfield, John Smit was bad enough amoung the names not there yet. I would have put Os and the Beast in my bottom slots and been happy with them making an appearance while saving some higher slots. Definitely some missing legends i would have to be holding some not bottom slots for. It's good some of the newer players weren't on the list, recency bias with how successful the current team has been.
Different categories for different forwards. Greatest Legend forward - Frik du Preez (SA player of the century) Fittest forward - Andre Venter (This guy worked harder during training than any other). Toughest meanest forward - Bismarck du Plessis (Richie McCaw dub thee the most feared player in world rugby) Strongest leader - Francois Pienaar. (He is the instigator of Rugby turning professional in South Africa post 95 - This was a wild ride of inner politics in SA Rugby.) Best captain - Victor Matfield. (His success with the Bulls made him a very charismatic captain.) Best forward who never went to the world cup: Gary Teichmann. (Had he been selected to go to Wales in 1999 history would remember him as the first captain to have defended the world cup NOT JUST the 17-test winning streak.) Best genetics - Die Windhond - Hennie Muller (This guy was a freak of nature whose name is part of Rugby folklore.) The ultimate forward - that depends on the complete package. The best captains were all forwards. Comparing John Smith with Pienaar and Siya the better player is most likely John Smith because he is the stronger leader - you need the x factor to have earned over one hundred caps.
Where is Bismark, Victor Matfield, Frik du Preez, Gert Muller, Duane Vermeulen, Pieter Steph du Toit, Piet Spiere du Toit, Rob Louw, Louis Moolman, die Du Preez boeties, Uli Schmidt, Kwagga, Morne du Plessis, Burger Geldenhuys, Gert Smal, Wilco Louw, Malherbe, Koch, en menige Noord Transvaal en Vrystaat stutte.
If he was mentioned he would be very high up for sure! But as mentioned right at the start it’s NOT a list of who we think is top ten players of all time, just a list of forwards to be blind ranked!
I had a pen next to me and each time a name was mentioned I would pause the video and rank legend. Here is my list: 1. Smit 2. Eben 3. Marx 4. Burger 5. Bakkies 6. Os 7. Juan 8. Brussow 9. Andrews 10. Beast It was great fun but man was it very difficult. If had to switch two players it would be Andrews and Beast.
