I love how these guys really talk like they know more than Steve. I don't mind your opinion but stop acting like you are correct. Just because you wanted him to do it, does not make it right. John Gibson is not the answer, Yzerman keeps bringing in these mediocre backup goalies and trying to make them into starters, and it’s not working. Would rather have Guentzel than Stamkos though.
Not to burst everybody’s bubble, but signing Stamkos is pretty unrealistic by itself. The $32m in cap space is misleading. When you do the numbers, you’ll have roughly $11m of cap space to fill 5 roster spots.

They cannot go into next Season with Holl, Chiarat, Petry, and Maatta on the payroll. Send Holl and one of the other Defenseman to the Rangers for Trouba. New York will Buy out Holl, because it'll be cheaper than buying out Trouba. We'll get a nasty, heavy hitting Defenseman that Teams will be afraid of. No one is scared of this D Corps and they will need to keep their head up with Trouba. Haven't had anyone like him since Kronwall.
Maatta was their most dependable D-man all season long, game in and game out. He's got one year left on a 3mil deal. Hes a good second pair and a top 3rd pair.
If we can get Guentzel with decent term with a plus defender (or resign ghost/keep Kane), lock up Mo and Ray for 8x8 contracts I can be happy with that.

@@Tarquin21723Walman had some good goals. He was no a good defender at all. His stat line is bizarre. He had more goals than assists. Like the other commenter said he is a depth dman and was scratched a lot the second half of the season. Something is clearly wrong with him
Walman is not elite by any means but still was one of the Wings better defensemen at certain points last season and likely still had some trade value. Maybe Stevie knows something was wrong with him that most of us don’t, but giving up a 2nd along with him for nothing is still baffling knowing the Sharks would have claimed him off waivers anyways. But yeah I have questioned Kenny’s hockey knowledge for a while now, at one point this season he said the Blues were a terrible team, which i mean they actually finished a point or two better than the Wings who he had predicted making the playoffs.
Maybe Steve is dumping more salary or a trade is coming. Wallman had injuries consistently and played below average in the last 4 weeks of season. Get rid of Rasmussen for god sakes terrible signing I drather have Soderblom instead of him anyway or Bergeron. Dump another defenseman to.
Outside of obvious org/Monty flaws. Why ( on the court) did the pistons lose... was it 3 point shooting, defense, scoring, defense, defense, defense? If holland comes to play like ausar.. you can live without the heavy 3 ball. Just changed the system and make it fit. It's the PISTONS WAY!

Gibson is without a doubt better than Husso and Lyon, there’s nobody else available. It’s Gibson or it’s nobody so if you don’t want to make the move don’t start crying when we miss the playoffs. You’re all going to be upset at Yzerman for not making moves that weren’t available
