I remember liking Prometheus a lot becuase of the atmosphere, the awesome shots and the intriguing story of "we humans were created by an alien race". When the movie was over I thought "Damn I didn't get any answers to why they created us and why we must die. Oh well I bet it will be explained in the sequel". And then Alien Coevenant was a terrible piece of crap that practically just repeated Prometheus but had David as the bad guy and no engineers. How the f did you manage to squander such an epic origin story to one of the best franchises in sci-fi history? It takes some serious stupidity to fail this hard! I'm so pissed at Ridley Scott. It's time for you to retire because you lost your mojo a long time ago.
They didn't even bother to explain the aftermath of Prometheus, they just ended it abruptly, when what happened with Shaw and David could've been more interesting plot.
How does disney even afford to keep buying all these franchises or even still exist? Everything they touch just tanks and everyone hates it. At this point I wish Disney never existed, they just acquire and destroy every childhood movie we grew up on and loved with wokeness.
David didn't create the Xenomorph only borrowed the engineers work and thus we can all be happy and enjoy covenant and promethus and avp is still canon and everyone lives happily after
What made Shaw a good character was because of Noomi Rapace. I wonder if things didn’t work out with her for Covenant so they tried revising the script multiple times.
It makes no sense that a highly technologically advanced race would have such a primitive society as we have seen... Also, why were they all gathering and cheering for the arrival of the spaceship? And interestingly the only piece of technology we see is the floating docking port for the spaceship... Coincidence? I think not... I think this was a colony, plain and simple, of a species that Engineers molded to their likeness! It is very likely that like on Earth, the Engineers were testing various colonization via cloning ideas, including their own! That could explain why this species looked similar but not alike the Engineers!
Prometheus is a mess. It cannot be redeemed, in my opinion. The fact that Ridley Scott has had to explain certain elements of the plot after the film came out shows he failed to do his job properly, then redited the movie and still left out important plot details. The old man has lost it.
Engineers don't want to see anyone come up or surpass them. Typical god-complex. Weyland earned it through his intelligence and tenacity if you ask me.
That second explanation/version would've been a perfect way to end the film, saving it (in my opinion) and leading it right into 'Alien' with the crew of the Nostromo finding the juggernaut on Acheron.
Yeah, a story that would've had an alien society kidnapping Jesus, teaching him right from wrong, and then returning him... might not have been appropriate.
You know it always makes me laugh when I read the gripes online about Prometheus & Covenant. Hey people, don't go into a movie with all kinds of expectations, then you won't be disappointed! What do you want another Freddy Kruger flick? Gee I wonder what Freddy's going to do in Elm Street 28....Umm kill people with his knives hand? Or lets watch Vin Diesel do anther Fast and Furious, it would be epic if there was a car chase scene, nobody would have seen that coming! Be happy the series continues. I love the Predator, Alien, Star Wars, and Star Trek series. We can't have an entire movie showing YOUR favorite character. Be kind of boring to watch 2 hours of banter between Boba Fett and Han Solo. Do ya think if Star Wars was a flop Lucas would have been known as he is today? He took a risk, it paid off. I think if you look at Prometheus for the sake of visuals, action, and basic story telling, it's damn good. Covenant as well. I for one love anything to do with space, we know so little and will never be alive long enough to be in the shoes of anything remotely like these scenes. (not speaking about encountering aliens, but just the majesty of space travel) So a little glimpse into what may someday be, is exciting enough for me. If the series ended after Alien, you'd have to find something else to bitch about....got anything in mind?
I like the fact that they cut most of it out. I figured it out on my own. I think that's the point of it. The movie isn't there to give us all the answers, like life itself. We don't have the answers and we're not supposed to. But we can speculate and wonder. Life is a mystery after all.
Before filming: Studio Exec: Make sure you show the engineer guy rip the robot's head off! That worked in the first movie! People love that! Ridley: Okay. After filming: Studio Exec: Why don't you have an alien monster in this movie? Where's the alien monster? Ridley: We already shot the movie. Studio Exec: Then put one in at the end! Ridley: Okay.
I just want to say that I never planned to watch these movies, but your channel got recommended and all you explained throughout the years, made me watch
