Because nobody wants the computerized shit that is being pushed these days. Our new Ford refuses to recognize a battery unless it has a Ford computer chip on said battery. That chip doubled the price of the battery.
This seems to be the worst with Toyotas; yes every vehicle is over priced but vehicles like the Tacoma have owners that are so delusional that they think their Taco is worth like 3 times as much as a Ranger. I consistently see 200k+ very rusty (I live in the northern part of the Midwest) Tacomas that have multiple issues for sale at or above $8k. And I want a Tacoma; but at these prices they’re a stupid purchase.
Yeah, When new cars went from $30-40k pre pandemic, to $100k post pandemic, it brought the value of used cars up too. And let's not forget the "cash for clunkers" BS that took a lot of perfectly fine used cars off of the market altogether. Supply on demand🤷🏻♂️
You call that rusty?!? Come on up to northern Michigan and take a look at our used cars. Most people around here would be excited to see that little rust on a 20 year old vehicle
Tell that to my million mile 1980. Rusty crusty and runs drives wheels hard on weekends ans drives to work all week. Oh what a feeling TOYOTA!! pickem apart all day and then see how many are in the wrecking yards. Nothing but crickets.
I got an 82 shortbed daily driver such a good truck and you catch looks from people who know. Mines got a rebuilt engine tho and only a bit over 300k on the odometer. Just wish I had paint and decals for it.
People also think if it's a diesel it's worth more then a gasonline vehicle. Have seen some 05 2500 6.6L LB7 on buy and sell groups for 25-30K when in all reality 15K max and that's pushing it $12,938 is a fair offer according to KBB( kelly blue book).
It's called inflation. Your dollar is worth less than it was 20 yrs ago. I bought my '93 ranger a d the rebate was $2,500. My dad bought his first new car in '73 for less than my rebate was. All that "free stuff" from the .gov, really isn't free because it causes inflation like your seeing now
Thank the people that bought cars with their unemployment during covid. They all thought they would have a big flip but they got greedy and waited too long
