It’s funny I swear I never see this info when I look on the site! To answer, yeah they definitely to have extra space in the length. I stuck with my usual size 14 as I didn’t know but I would have gone with that anyway. As to how long they actually are, we’re talking only about half a cm of space from my big toe to the end of shoe so if you typically already have what you feel is a lot of space then yeah size down. For me I’m often just inside their average 14. So if it runs long I actually get some space which I like, if they ever run short they’re too small for me. Hope that helps and sorry for the long answer (pardon the pun 🙈)
I never really thought that leather breathed that much anyway but Maybe that’s my incorrect assumption? But I think I’d agree with you, they’re not necessarily that breathable but I’d say no different to any other shoe. Sorry if that sounds wishy washy but I suppose to maybe take the other side I wouldn’t say they smother your feet. I don’t have the insoles in so depending on the ambient temperature outside that can have a big impact on how these feel. Eg cooler weather = cooler feet so maybe they aligns with what you’re saying ?
It feels as if the air and heat are accumulating and staying in the foot. I have the Asana III and I don't feel it as much as with the geocourt. And I wore the Gobi Sneaker Leather for weeks and it was never like the Geo court. I always use the shoes with soles. I can't do without it and yes, I thought the leather naturally breathed.
@royce369 right, I get you. Yeah I suppose they don’t really have much in the way of air holes or anywhere other than where your ankle is for the air to go in and out. Yeah it depends which shoes I have but I often remove the insole. I keep them in on the Magna FGs, Motus flex and I think a couple more I can’t think of right now off the top of my head. But I usually take them out as they give me more space inside too which I need every millimetre of 😅
is there any way to make it stop blinking blue while not on during the night? besides turning the switch “off” cause that defeats the purpose of the tap to turn on feature
Not that I’m aware of, because it’s technically on but on standby that’s why it’s got the blue light. Hence why you’re having to properly power it off. Is your issue the blue light or about it being on? We never notice the blue led as it’s pretty dim. and you could always turn it around so you don’t have to see the light if that’s the case
No I haven’t but those Wildings have been mentioned before. They’re interesting but a lot of the time they don’t have my size, or I’m just not a big fan of the styles
Hey, it’s my fellow big footer! Good to see another review. Each time I watch you, I get the urge to get another pair. You have quite the collection, I’m jealous.
Hey bud! Thanks! Yeah it’s probably getting a little out of hand now 😅 I can’t help but give some of the new styles a try. In my defence though I do try to buy pairs that serve a purpose that I can wear on specific occasions or scenarios. Although I may be getting a bit of overlap now. I really need to send some off to Revivo to make space for more 😬
Hi, I live in California. I was going to buy a pair of these, the reason I didn't was because I thought the soles would absorb water. What I mean is, if I wear to wear them to the grocery store and I come out and it's raining. My thought are they will let water in on the sides. Hence I am then walking in wet shoes. What are your thoughts on this happening. I love the look and especially that they are a sock shoe. Thank you.
I honestly thought California never experienced rain 😅 In all seriousness, to be honest if it is raining, enough to create puddles and you’re out in it for a relatively short period of time your feet could certainly get wet. I acutely had that exact experience with them. Long story short your assumption is right, if it’s is or has been raining a lot and you go out with these on they’re very likely gonna pick up the moisture and begin to soak it all up. Surface moisture fine, but if it’s wet to the point you’re kicking a little water up they’re just gonna get soaked on a long walk
@@harrisonmudge Thank you very much for getting back, greatly appreciated. Your videos are great and very informative. They have helped be a lot. I dove in and bought 4 pairs, I really wanted the Modus but didn't buy them for that reason. I decided I am going to get them. Been in love with sock shoes ever since my first pair of Nike. I have had other barefoot shoes but must say I am very impressed with all my vivo's. I am a sports medicine doctor on the PGA TOUR. I first saw them on a golfer I worked with. I also just did some work on a guy who plays in the NFL and he was wearing a pair. Later he was actually taking passes in his bare feet. Impressive. I travel a lot and I know on my other barefoot shoes if it was raining a lot my feet would get soaked. I will just wear them on dry days...lol Yes, it does rain in Southern California in the winter and very occasionally in the summer. Thank you very much, enjoy your day.
@jackjohnson3318 no problem and glad I could help. Sounds like you have a really cool job! I’ve got a wide range of Vivos now and they all have strengths and weaknesses but it’s actually something I really like about their design philosophy, everything has a specific purpose so yes sometimes you have to compromise on aspects but it’s because they often excel in other areas rather than being pretty middling across the board. Good luck with those and enjoy your weather, I’m sure regardless of time of year southern Cali is still much more enjoyable than England 😅
The Flex has a slightly thinker sole to the Primus but we’re talking millimetres so they’re so similar you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. The only real thing you would notice is because of the gaps in the flex it feels like things can protrude into the soles of your feet a bit more. Not in an uncomfortable way but you can notice the extra movement.
I personally think the Primus Lite Knit is a better everyday shoe, mostly from an aesthetics side but I also think the sole is better for walking around in. The Flex isn’t something I’d choose to wear casually, unless it was an all white or all black version, which currently don’t exist (both either have two-tone soles and/or coloured insteps. For training, the Flex is brilliant. I’ve been using mine for weight lifting and general training and they’re exceptionally comfortable and flexible. One thing you do find is that your foot can push/roll over the side slightly if you’re doing something with a wide stance or dynamic sideways movement. Only a minor thing, though. They’re generally fantastic.
Yeah I hear you, this is certainly more “casual” perhaps because it’s got the more playful colour ways. I think I would have gone all black / black and white if I could as the lime green arch is a little extra but I personally don’t mind it. The Primus Lite Knit has that sharper look thanks to the tighter knit pattern and clean flat sole. Agree with your training point too. The loose nature of the sock overall means it lacks that stiffness if you’ve got a lot of lateral movement in your feet. Interestingly I can’t say I’ve experienced that with my Biomes so I guess that shoes just how much impact the different sole designs can have on performance, hence why they do the MOTUS Strength too.
@@TheChosenOne-KQX 😅 no worries. Yeah it would be nice potentially if they could pull the info from your settings and apply to the mouse but suppose you may want different settings for different mice.
Question! I'd like to use Backblaze for long-term archiving of work (I'm a graphic designer and photographer). If I'm understanding correctly, I would need to connect every drive that was backed up every 30 days in order for the backup to remain on Backblaze (for the rest of my life, lol)? Even if it was an old drive that was backed up years prior? Do you back up all 11 of yours drives that you mentioned in the video every 30 days? Or is your company's workflow such that once the project is over, you are ok with the files being deleted, as the project is over? Thanks!
Yes you’re correct. The drive will need plugging in every 30 day for the rest of your life 😅 And you’re right, it can get a bit of a nuisance if you have lots of drives and have to plug them all in so one we’re done with a client that drive would go into storage and be removed from backblaze. It’s not ideal but realistically a client typically has all the work we’ve done for them too and I don’t think we’ve ever had to dig into the archives for something that was older than a few months. So just keeping the drives in a safe place usually is enough. Like I say it’s not necessarily the ideal solution for everyone but if you don’t particularly use a significant amount of data or just need some reassurance the drive you’re working on is backed up it’s ideal, especially for how inexpensive it is
@@harrisonmudge Thank you so much for your quick and detailed response! Sounds like Backblaze is great as a safety net for client work until the job is completed! I will continue to explore Backblaze as well as other options for my usecase!
Yeah for sure. Like I say for the price it’s great. There’s obviously other solutions that may be better suited such as actual cloud storage but the costs start going through the roof. We do no use something called Sync. That IS cloud storage and file sharing but the cost is at least twice as much and not unlimited storage unless you pay A Lot More. So I use Sync for file sharing (and technically cloud storage) but still work from physical SSDs and use Backblaze on those drives for the safety net
Batteries are considered consumables though as they only have a certain amount of charge cycles, that being said yours clearly died early. Mines taken a battering! I need to replace the body as it’s been dropped and one of the cyclones leaks air. £100 for a replacement body which isn’t too bad considering it’s essentially the main component
I have bought a few vivobarefoot shoes, such as the gobi boot and scott. I have a pretty wide (28 x 11) and mountain shaped feet, so all the vivos I've tried were too tapered and narrow. They also do a weird arch thing which is very uncomfortable on my flat arches. I did end up keeping the addis, and although the arch area is still bit weird, they are the perfect shape for my toebox. I wish they'd make more shoes (especially boots and the winter tracker sg look so good) that are wider and mountain shaped.
With the arch bit do you mean they’re still too narrow for you? I know what you mean though and have heard from others that Vivos can generally be narrow overall. I personally get a generally good fit across most of the range, I just end up finding some that simply don’t fit at all so it’s a bit hit and miss sometimes. I look forward to the day we can get some semi custom fitted shoes. Not necessarily 100% bespoke but to be able to choose “extra wide” for example would be great
@@harrisonmudge It's more the narrow toebox that's an issue. While the arch bit can be annoying, it just feels a bit too snug but not a dealbreaker. Talking about custom fitted shoes, I did sign up for their VivoBiome program, I hope they make that public in the future because those look very cool. Having "extra wide" versions of all the shoes would also be cool, but I feel like sometimes they prioritize that narrower and more "atheistically pleasing" look. If there's no financial benefit/incentive of making the wide versions, they probably have no other reason to.
Hi, Harrison. Your video really informs me. I have a few question: 1. I'm on a really tight budget, so I'm thinking of backing up my files on 1 SSD and on Backblaze. Is this an at least okay idea? If my SSD fails, will I still have access to my files on Backblaze? If I buy another SSD and install my files from Backblaze on the new SSD, will that work? 2. When I have the money, should I buy another SSD in addition to my current SSD or should I buy a hard drive? which one is more reliable for the long run? I've heard people both recommend and disgard HDD (says nobody use HDD anymore). What do you think? And what HDD is reliable now? Hope you will reply, thank you in advance!
Hey. It depends what you’re trying to do and how much data you’ll need to backup, or intend to backup. If you’re a generally lite user of data storage (someone who just has a lot of documents or family photos etc) then a simple 2TB external SSD could be ideal. Then you can offload a lot of things to the SSD and back that up to Backblaze. If the SSD failed then yes you can still access the files on Backblaze but you’d need to “restore” the data onto a replacement SSD (exactly like you assume) at some point as Backblaze is a mirror of a local drive, not cloud storage. Regarding the second question, if you do fill the external drive then you can always add more obviously. As to which is better, SSD or HDD, they have pros and cons across both. If you plan to work off of the drive with editing software then an SSD would be better as it will read and write faster, less susceptible to damage if dropped, smaller physical size etc so really the better choice in general IMO BUT they’re generally around twice the price. A regular external HDD are much more affordable when looking at larger storage and probably the better choice if it’s generally just pure data storage you’re looking for but has downsides such as being a larger physical size, more susceptible to drop damage because of moving parts and a lot slower read and write speeds compared to SSDs. Which ever type of drive you do go for always go for a reputable brand to ensure better reliability. Eg LaCie Samsung. Main brand might be more expensive than others but reliable drives will last much longer.
@@harrisonmudge yea it's fine, I want the motus flex for high-school to wear indoor, have primus's for everyday, and trail knit for pickleball, that's my goal
Several years ago, Vivobarefoot used to give correct information about the fit of their shoes; now, it is always "fits true to size", so there is no clue whether shoes specificities, like inside materials or warm insulation, will affect fit. I have (and have had) lots of Vivos and my size varies from 41 to 42 according to upper material (synthetic textiles usually don't stretch like leather), lining, what kind of socks I am likely to use, and use of insole or not. Sometimes I choose 42 and it is a little too large (with Vivos flexibility, it is not a great problem, even with thin socks), and sometimes 41 is a little small (removing the insole and avoiding thick socks always solve the problem). Usually I choose 42 for mountain, trail or winter shoes (and Gobis with synthetic upper material), and 41 for all other kind of Vivos. Maybe the full leather lining removes enough inside space, so this Gobi sneakers become uncomfortable. The additional leather toes protection, which seems to bend upper leather, may also reduce available space for toes... Did you try the shoes without insole ? This version of Gobi sneakers does not seem to be available anymore in full leather; a new version is now available, but I don't like it too much (in pictures; there is no shop selling Vivos where I live).
im fining this, im also a 42 in most shoes, i have gobi, ra in 42 and fit fine but my primus lites are massive in 42, i should've sent them back really so i'm stuck with them. Im really struggling on what size to order in a primus trail 2 and/or the gobi sneaker leather mens in black! 🤨
Yeah I know what you're saying. With the Gobi sneaker I did try without the insole in but while it helped they still ran a little narrow and, most importantly, too short. I always go for their biggest which is a UK 14 / EU49 and they'll either fit or not. In general they fit just right or will run short. Rarely will they be too long. Although saying that, for the first time in a while I've got a pair of the new Motus Flex and maybe, just maybe I could have got a size down, BUT i'd always rather they have a little extra space than fit snug. Like you say depending on socks etc, and for me I actually find that in warm weather and just being on feet all day my feet swell up so the whole shoe can end up feeling tight so a generally looser fit is usually preferred when I get any.
yeah that can be very annoying having to keep trying. And the sizes are inconsistent across the range so if you are in between sizes then you do have to do a lot of trial and error.
Sooooo I bought the Master 3S today----and I'm already considering returning it. It's a great mouse----but I can already feel my hand/wrist getting fatigued and having pain. ...which is weird, because I've used an Apple Magic Mouse for years. Guess I'm so used to the "Claw Grip" ... I might try the Anywhere 3S for Mac and see. Meh... Oh well.
Really interesting you’re getting pains with it. I would have thought you’d still end up holding it the same way. Is your grip on it different to how you hold your Magic Mouse? Has it got any better for you since commenting a few days ago?
No problem. I’m personally not a runner so can’t really speak to whether they’re good for that or not for your specific needs. For me they’ve been pretty robust for general use though
It’s like comparing tractors with mustangs, they are both great at what they do and cannot be compared. Magic Mouse is no mouse you can compare to the mx master. One is a trackpad on a moving device and the mx master is a specialized device and only being a mouse.
Interesting analogy 😅 which one is the mustang in this situation cuz I’ll take that one 😂 To be pedantic I’d say they’re more similar than that but I hear you. So you use or have you tried both? Which do you prefer?
If I’ve updated file names and or moved around folders on my Mac, will the changes be reflected on Backblaze also? My issue is that my files on my Mac can get messy and all over the place after a while and I do eventually organise everything, but I don’t want to have to do that twice (once on my Mac and again on Backblaze). I’m guessing as it’s just a mirror, everything on Backblaze will update accordingly?
Correct it’s just a mirror so if you move or rename it will update it server side. I double checked this as I think I miss quoted something before but it won’t need to re upload BUT it does add changes to the upload queue. But when it checks the file if it hasn’t change and only moved then it will just make the change server side for Backblaze rather than re upload a duplicate.
surprisingly i like them! They look like a regular casual shoe kind of remind me of the reebok club C. Compared to my primus knit they feel a little more spacious but not as stretchy because of the material. The only thing i didn’t like were the corkscrew insoles. My foot kept sliding around. Easy fix just swapped out some old primus knit insoles and that did the job.
Yeah that is the thing I notice about the cork insole. It does tend to slide. I had them in a different pair and found they slid back towards the heel then I could feel the gap under my toes. But I usually remove the insoles anyway so less of an issue
I had to return them, they hurt my toe when I bent my foot. No Vivo model has ever hurt me or I have needed time to break them in. For me, Vivo shoes have to fit like a glove and be soft from day one. I have narrow feet so they are a little bit wide for me.
Ah that’s a shame! Yes I agree, you should be able to put on a pair of shoes and know pretty much immediately if they’re going to fit / be comfortable or not. In rare occasions something can change after a bit of time but in my experience that’s usually in the negative sense. Something you thought fit well then starts to pinch or run a little short or narrow so when your feet expand they’re not right. My feet are roughly in the middle when it comes to width so a lot of Vivos tend to fit just right, or in some cases can feel a bit narrow
The dpi is not just the speed but also the resolution. That means, at for example 500 dpi set up, the mouse still runs at 8 thousand dpi (at least with the dongle), so the movement will be much more precised. Also the Magic Mouse runs at 90 hz, so u see a delay and the cursor is lagging a little bit on the 120 hz MacBook Display
I've not noticed the impact on the 120hz display but rarely use the magic mouse now, only for when I'm away from my desk and at that point I usually do more admin than anything mouse heavy. With the dpi though it seems to manifest as faster movement if I dial it up. Are you saying you could dampen the responsiveness but still have the accuracy? As in my head you crank the dpi and it's as if you're "scaling" the way it reads a surface so it reads more movement in less space.
Mouse acceleration is native in macOS, that means that u have this with every mouse if you don’t turn it off in the settings. I think Logitech options + also has mouse acceleration 7:09
Interesting. I couldn't see any options in the Logi Options+ app. I just get options for 'speed' on a 0-100% scale. Or I can 'extend dpi range' and then it uses a dpi scale to 8000. The result is still the mouse going mega fast!
You know that’s a really good point! Never thought about that. What happened when they got wet? Did they discolour? Their magna FG do change colour from wearing but that’s just general wear, water doesn’t make them any worse if that makes sense. I imagine the new leather ones they’ve released would be much more durable in that respect
On mine the color leached out, the white trim around the upper heel came off, and then the upper material became rock hard when it dried. I loved the shoes before that happened.
I've used Backblaze for years and it's saved my bacon more than once. I have about 13TB of photos and videos on my PC and it's a great feeling knowing they are in the cloud. I also have a NAS, but the B2 Cloud Storage is too expensive for my needs. Thanks.
Wow, that's a lot a data! Thanks for sharing :) Yeah it's definitely peace of mind for sure. And I really like how it just does it in the background too, nothing manual apart from checking which drives to backup at all.
I had the same probleme. The thoe box was really to narrow for me. It's really hard to find a real wide to box. I have a pair of Prio Neo in 11 they fit because of the net. But i should got a 11.5 us.
Yeah even "wide' shoes aren't that wide in the grand scheme of things. Vivobarefoot are ok and my preferred brand but even some of theirs don't get wide enough. And if you're starting out with barefoot shoes and the width is already close, as your feet get a little wider over time then you're going to find less of the shoes fitting as well as they used to. That's what happened to me anyway.
Hmm. I’m thinking about getting the new black leather gobi sneakers. I wonder if I have to size up. I don’t have wide feet though but you say they run short?
My bad! Completely miss read your comment? Thought you were talking about the boots! They look nice! Well assuming they fit the same as these I tried then yes these run short. If I could then going up a size would have solved it for me as my toes didn’t really touch the ends until I start moving in them so a few extra millimetres would have made the difference. If you can size up 👍🏻
Given the number of Vivobarefoot shoes you've bought and your insightful review, I believe they should not only offer you a few complimentary pairs but also consider making a mold of your foot to design future models!
Haha it would certainly save me a bit of money! I took part in their first pioneer program and had my feet scanned. It wasn't a fully custom fit but the closest to perfect compared to others. It will be an exciting day when we can get the truly custom ones bespoke to our feet.
99% of the time no I have no issues, and I use all those on Bluetooth. I do, on very very rare occasions have everything disconnect and reconnect. It’s everything though so I’m not sure if that’s a Mac thing or Bluetooth. But it’s so rare and so instant it’s not really a problem. I have experienced issues with my Apple Magic Mouse strange lag and jitters but I was in an enclosed space, right next to a WiFi router etc and that caused issues.
Same height/volume issue here with the Nexus which came today, I'm a UK13. But I had a spare set of Vivo thermal insoles which have a bit more thickness to them and also in size 13. And yep, that's done the trick, Vivo insoles aren't quite the same as Xero, but they squished in, and I also used the included Nexus insoles too, which go best on top, and the Xero insoles also have a less slippy fabric which feels better with a looser fit. I tried out the Primus Lites knit in UK 13 but they are bigger inside than the 'firm ground'-FG versions from Vivo, so sent those back, yet I'm a bit reluctant to get the 12's now as I'm seeing some sole detaching away early issues on some Amazon reviews. perhaps just depends on how you use them, but these Xero Nexus do have a tough feeling sole, the Vivo Primus Lites felt in contrast very soft rubber, yet not sure if it's a material or glue issue, if at all. And it's the Vivo Primus Trail Knits in UK13 that I bought first, but as I learnt from another youtube vid, the issue with those can be the main crease point around the small toe area, the upper side material is tough and quite wide there, and creates some unpleasant inward crease points, so I can only really use them now with thicker socks, otherwise good barefoot shoes.
I’ve not had any issues with my Primus Lite Knit but It probably depends how people use them. I’ve got lots of different pairs of Vivos for different occasions and my Primus Knit are a more casual wear rather that getting hammered by exercise, or sport so could be that. I’ve never had any true failures with glue though. I’ve got some magna FG, an older pair of Geo racer and a Primus Lite, all of which have an area where the sole has started to come away from the upper slightly. BUT it only ever seems to be at an edge, either the heel or round the little toe let’s say. But it’s never progressed any further round or under the shoe so I think they’re a high stress point but once it gives there then there’s no additional stress so seems to last. Just an assumption but that’s based on my personal experience.
Yes it should do. It’s relatively soft in general anyway but it does have a little stiffness to it due to its ‘newness’ but for sure softens as it flexes and gets its creases 👌🏻
No I'd say they're different. The Primus has more length. Width they might be quite similar but may feel slightly different based on the upper of the shoe.
I’m thinking of doing similar. I’m going to get a Leccie external hard drive for my photos and Lightroom catalog files. I can then move easily between computers. I’ll then log back into my main desktop to send to the cloud. Just wondering whether to buy a SSD external drive or a HDD external drive. From the pricing I assume you use HDD. Just wondering if you use them like I want to (work directly on the files saved on the external HDD) and if you find that fast enough for editing?
Really good question and one I still think about each time I get new drives. To keep it brief I'd say SSD is the better option because of speed, size and inherent ruggedness (no moving parts). But both are totally viable. I do think you can still use a HDD for photo editing without any issues. I even use for some video still and totally useable. They're certainly more cost effective but, based on my experience they're more susceptible to physical damage, if you dropped it or somehow aggressively shook it. Obviously an SSD isn't invincible either but there's no moving parts to be bent out of shape.
Lesson learned: When walking "properly", my toes spread apart quite a bit when I step and then take up even more space. A roomy toe box (all the way up to the heel) is therefore an absolute must and all shoes that don't offer this are automatically dead for me.
Yeah I hear you. I definitely prefer the overall wider fit in my shoes. that's why the RA from Vivo are really nice as they're wider overall in the heel / mid section.
@@harrisonmudge Funny enough, my daily driver is the Vivo Gobi.-) I guess once you experienced the real barefootshoe deal, you can‘t go back…knockoff brands like Feelgrounds that compromise on the barefoot principles and water down their shoes in order to reach the mass market don‘t do themselves a favor.
I still have to search for the thumb button when I want to press it. Other buttons are natural. I can't decide which style of vertical scrolling I prefer.
my thumb sits bang on so I don't have that isse. Interestingly it's developed a slight indent where the button is so that helps me feel for it. Scrolling wise, I have the natural scroll turned on now but I keep the 'ratchet' magnet turned on. The wheel spins way too freely without it and I tend to knock it or rest a finger on it so the ratchet stops it from accidentally scrolling.
I lost my magic mouse yesterday. The main disadvantage to it is it won't run when plugged in. My hand is small. But after finally getting it on, I tried to find out how to use the buttons. Switching between desktops is more difficult with the MX 3S. I didn't even notice the gesture button! I'm trying to find apps that use the buttons. And I haven't been able to find out the equivalent of a one-finger sliding my magic mouse over a mail preview to delete it.
Yeah I agree nothing quite matches the gestures on the Magic Mouse. On the MX Master 3S the horizontal scroll usually works to mimic the delete swipe in a lot of apps but it’s definitely not as graceful. I always feel it takes a little over one scroll with the thumb so not quite as slick. Definitely more comfortable for those with larger hands though
No they’ve never rubbed there for me. I’ve got 2 pairs, a RA II and a RA III and neither rub. I find that these are generally on the looser side though too so they’re never tight enough for that friction to cause a blister. For me anyway. 👍🏻
You could try Xero Prio, which are wider and their trail sandal that isn't flimsy. Though your feet may be too long, as you said you already wore the biggest size. I have no problem with the Dillion or any other Xero shoe though. I much prefer them to Vivobarefoot. Typically all my Xero shoes at half a size bigger than I'd wear in Vivobarefoot. I don't like Vivo's ultra thin sole that is not well glued to their protective membrane. Scary having such expensive shoes creek like crazy because of this on a pair of primus lite that I had. Also the front of the sole hinges up then downwards and makes a slapping sound on a few models that I tried. Inside of the sole being almost a straight line and not curved does not suit me either. I also like Groundies. They have regular barefoot and a barefoot plus option for more width. Quite a big range to choose from too.
