@@VENMGameZ I think I will get another one eventually although they are becoming harder to find now. I have thought about the Altus and swordfish as a replacement but I'm kind of considering something even bigger than the fx61. I'm thinking of trying a ranger 2000 or 2400
Beautiful maiden auto launch! I have one of these that a friend gave me last year and I'm hoping to try it out soon. Just finished assembling it after frying and replacing every electronic piece (I smoked the flight controller, esc, gps, servos...because I didn't know what I was doing.) I have my Alpha Strike built and am anxious to try it out. Looks pretty good!
@@ericwright7570 They sure are fun and surprisingly easy to fly. My goal is to reach 200kph comfortably on 6s which I hope to do next fly once we get some decent weather.
Sucks you lost your FX-61 to an inaccessible location. Such a nice bird. Did so many things right, just one tiny mistake. 😕 A mishap with RTH is more common than some people will admit. RTH can be tricky, as with every selection there are pitfalls that could lead to a possible issue. It's an area of config that should be checked based on flying location and type of flying intend to do. Similarity, not selecting correct config profile based on battery type (or size) can also result in less than ideal flight. Great tip on getting GPS lock. I recently picked up a FX-84, the FX-61's smaller sibling.
@@AerialWaviator I think I will build another one eventually like I said that bird was my first real iNav build and has many battle scars over the years. I was actually thinking of rebuilding it with a new body a few weeks ago. At least if I get another I know it will perform flawless from the maiden as I will always have the setup and configuration I used. I totally agree every flight your RTH and failsafe settings should be checked as per location flying. The smaller fx-84 plane is also a great bird!
@@nellodude I never really tested it fully but best I did was just over 10km out with good signal on both 1.3 vtx and 915 elrs. I did just recently do a range test using the 5.8ghz alpha 10 watt vtx which I can’t upload due to legalities. It went out to 10km with good signal no breakup with stock aerials. I did a review on it while back called Akk Alpha Series. It’s a beast but not very efficient
@@stonesrcchannel Ok thanks I just thought the area might be bad for RF I have a spot in Vic where I have been out 70km but another that I struggle to get past 15 km (on 1.3 ghz with high gain antennas) I have never been past 11 km on 5.8 ghz and I was wanting to get Walksnail as well but am disappointed in your distance. I would recommend the TrueRC x2 air for the goggles but I really think you would get better range using a ground station receiver higher up than using goggles with the TrueRC X-Ray antenna but it depends on what you consider long range. The best advice I can give is to launch from a slightly higher location (even 3 meters higher than surrounds) Good luck mate.
@@nellodude I don’t think the area I fly is great for range as there is a quarry just behind the hill I fly from. I am now in need of a new spot as works have started where is fly. I do plan to get the x2 airs for the headset someday and I agree the ground station does have its benefits which I may even look into someday with antenna tracking. Thanks for the tips!
Really sorry you lost this plane. We all been there. Part of the game. A lot of speculation in regard to what actually happened. When you first built it did you ever test RTH and observe the behavior of the aircraft all the way back to your takeoff location? Also after every launch you should check RTH prior to flying.
@@IanF-FPV yeah rth worked flawlessly it was the fact I had linear decent active and because of that RTH was on a gradual decent back home with the hill in between. It is a function in iNav I usually have turned off but in this case it was on.
Bad luck on losing the wing, I have one of those, they fly so well too. I have the Use Linear Decent option but the option underneath I set to 500 m just because I feared such a situation. You might also want to use the backtrack option for 500m so the plane will attempt to follow the route that took it out of LOS and hopefully you would have recovered video.
@@Caroline_Tyler yeah I also use the backtrack 500m on all planes with linear decent switched off. This plane for some reason I missed that it was different from the others. Bad mistake on my behalf. Anyway time for a new build!! 🥳
@@mvs7779 My kids did see me cry 😢 but at the same time my wife seen the lightbulbs of wonder flashing around my head as I was thinking of my next build.
Thanks for the video. Just bought the same goggles and vtx unit but trying to figure out how to attach to AtomRC 405 Navi. Hope it as simple as your set up.
@@PeterBrown-o4k It’s been a great setup for me. My only complaint is lack of range from the goggles which I have currently fixed using patch antennas. But other than that very happy with the Walksnail system. Thanks for watching.
Very good stable plane. I’ve had 211mph out of mine 6s 😯 so your 200kph is can easily be done with the correct set up. And yes, mine is 211MPH not kph. I use a 70a esc and 2000kv motor. Check it out and how I launch on my page.
@@ttucker2073 that's amazing awesome job! I'm not after record breaking speed just a craft that flies well and can do easy 200kph. But your Alpha is very impressive!
@stonesrcchannel in the video, you talk about the byterate several times but what you are describing is the bitrate. They aren't the same thing. Bitrate, pronounced: bit rate. Byterate, pronounced: bite rate. You use the later while talking about the former.
I have been doing autolandings on my sky surfer last few weeks and not been able to get the absolute right parameters. The touch down gets missed by about 10-50 feet on each attempt. But thrilled to see your build. There is so much space to place all the electronics and you have done a very neat wiring job!
Gday mate, When you connected to Inav just after reading instructions, Saying to hold down boot button when connecting with usb, You didn't hold the boot button down, Do you need to hold the boot button if not updating firmware. Come from betaflight, first wing FC, Just a bit confused by the steps....Not even together yet just received and going through the instructions and watching your great tutorial video. Cheers Jason.
@@QuadographyAustralia1965 You only need to hold the boot button in when wishing to update the firmware. That puts the flight controller into DFU mode for updating FC. Just normal connect for setup or tuning etc only need the FC to be plugged in via USB. Thanks for the comment any help just ask.
@@stonesrcchannel Thanks for that and the quickest reply ever, that's what I thought, but confusion set in. I'm just waiting for a T1 Ranger Twin motors, I don't want differential thrust, so hopefully I set it up properly. Cheers mate.
@@QuadographyAustralia1965 Good luck that. Personally I would try the differential thrust just my opinion as it helps turning. I was planning on a twin motor build someday using differential thrust. Good luck hope all goes well with it.
Do you by chance have a copy of your initial settings others could use to push into the CLI and get the setup you like? For those of us just starting out it would be nice to have the same basic default settings as you, same OSD, inputs/outputs, rth, takeoff assist. I’ve been watching you for quite some time and I would like to see what you use as your default setting in iNAV if possible
@@iamsoulcandy Thanks for watching I will see what I can do regarding this. Obviously to just copy everything from cli is not really recommended unless you are using the exact same plane and all hardware included weight would also need to be very close just to copy all settings. Saying this copying OSD and other basic setup should not be a problem. Do you fly an fx61?

hello i have one question, what happen when u turn off your google X during the update ? I did it and im now stuck in a black screen. How can i do know ? tank you for your help :)
Its important not to turn off the goggles while updating as it can brick the system. It sounds like what you have done. My best advise would be to try reinstall the firmware again using the step in the video and if that won't work you may need to contact caddx to see if there is a solution to unbricking it. You could also ask on the Walksnail or Caddx facebook page as they seem quite helpful too. Best of luck i hope you can get it resolved. Please let me know it reinstall fixes it or not.

@@Indonesia01ian Hi I am not entirely sure exactly what the issue is but I would assume that what you are seeing is normal as long as you have made no modifications to the board. Have you tried to contact speedybee they might be more helpful.
@@Indonesia01ian Have you calibrated your esc? If throttle is working in iNav check the signal wire is correct on the esc. Issue may be somewhere there.
I bought goggles x in May. If you also need analog they’re a terrible choice. Lately I use Sky04X pro and the walksnail vrx. Don’t hold your breath for that “upgrade”
My friend, there's a nice repository online, "walksnail dawt app" that stores all Walksnail firmware. Excellent source for all Walksnail products, I've found, and a better UI than the Caddx site. Just the other day I pulled the newest firmware for my Moonlight 4k's and Goggles X, as well as the new beta app for the goggles. Just wanted to share!
Yes that’s right I forgot about that page. I can open it but won’t let me download anything for some reason. I have tried everything on my devices to download but I have but never been able to download anything. So I’m not sure what’s going on there.
Hi, I am working on a similar build in a F550 With pixhwak 2.4.8. Radio control is through ELRS RP3 reciver and a Radio master Pocket Transmitter. My transmitter and Reciver is connected as i can see the C in the top right corner of the Lua script but not recognised by Ardupilot. I have chenged the flight channel to 12 but still it is not working, Is there any particular reason that you underwent ?
So sorry for late reply hopefully you have it worked out by now. Sounds like you may not have the wiring correct from the reciever to pixhawk. Make sure the tx is going the rx and rx to tx from reciever to pixhawk. Mine is setup on serial 4.
Would you recommend this FC and Camera for an Eflite Opterra? Getting it down is hardest part of flying the Drift, it's made to loiter, and does it well.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes I think the FC would work well on most planes but if going larger wingspan I would only recommend the 1s lite for tight builds like the drift. I would suggest the moonlight camera , avatar gt longer range or v2 pro best cameras although most expensive than the 1s lite.
@@stonesrcchannel The Opterra does have enough room for the larger version of the SpeedyBee F405 Wing, the Moonlight kit is on my list - I absolutely want clean onboard 4K recording to SD card. I have HD02's already, and the Walksnail VRx will clip on those, I don't need the high frame rate for what I want, duration and a quiet prop are more useful for me. Looks like a lot of retailers don't have the VRx + Moonlight kit in stock at the moment, but do have the VRx + 1s Lite, so I might end up with the 1s in the nose, and a Moonlight in a belly-turret style gimbal housing. Do you know if there a way to set one of the spare switches on the controller to adjust the video transmitters output level? 25mW is perfect for the local club flights, but there's some areas where the signal drops out, and it'd be great to be able to flick a switch and get higher power when needed.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes I have thought about that exact same setup for the VTX power but have not found anything just yet that suggests it can be done just yet. I don't see why it can't be setup to a switch or even set as dynamic power, a bit like elrs dynamic power works, that would be great.
when i connect it to inav it would not detect the f405 wing mini for some reason tried different cables its so frustrating why is it not plug and play :|
@@meareAaron Are you holding in the boot button on the USB extender while connecting it? If you are it sounds like a driver issue. Download the latest STM driver and see if it fixes it.
@@stonesrcchannel yep i was holding it before connecting usb but all it would do was just change to a different wireless mode and the led changes colors instead of connecting to inav thanks ill try the stm driver when i do find it
I just picked up my Goggles X, and a couple Moonlight 4K kits, also, after a decade of analog flying. My choice of Walksnail over DJI was easy for me: DJI's AeroScope system, and how it was used in Ukraine. HDZero isn't quite what I was looking for, that is to say a proper HD filming solution to replace my HD cameras on my quads and planes. But the biggest selling point was the HDMI input on the Goggles X's, as I have a ton of models with analog Tx's that I don't want to/can't afford too replace, lol. But so far, I've just been taking both sets of goggles (analog and X's) to the field, as the only analog module solution I've seen is goofy, really goofy. I see you've got the lens covers and Fat Strap as well - I went with the "Pinup" style, lol. There's a replacement foam surround I've installed from BG that has solved the light leak issue for me. On a Mario 5 frame, I've had nothing but great performance so far. Even on a fixed wing Penguin, it's been a rock solid setup! I haven't tried the Moonlights in the dark yet, but have to imagine they'll be as good as any of my GoPro's or Insta360's for footage. Thanks for your review, Stones!
@@GhostRyderFPV I plan to get the new Avatar Gt and set up a gm3 gimbal on a long range build. The head tracking is what I'm really keen to get into with these. Cheers happy flying

Keep going you’ll easily get over 3 km with the stock setup. Don’t be a chicken. I was using a 5” quad with the HD V2 single antenna (foxeer stubby) and stock Goggles X unlocked. With the patch you should be get like 7km. I will test this shortly when it arrives.
@@Gowieee cheers mate thank for the comment. I'm currently looking at the true RC X2 patches for it. I will retest when I get them to show the difference.
@@stonesrcchannel that’ll be interesting for sure. We need more Goggle X content. I see Caddx have “solved” all issues in their most recent post. I wonder what that will look like.
I use the vrx receiver and the avatar pro dual antenna tx. I replaced the tx antennas with Hglrc hammers and the top 2 antennas on the vrx with the same 2 antennas and did 6km perfect video. I only turned around as I chickened out. Also I am using 700 mw power output and the stock patch antennas in the vrx.
You'll want patch antenna on your goggles on both two of the receive and the one antenna that gets retransmits from the vtx. Also make sure your vtx antenna have some height to them . Also, 1200 mw has always been rumored to be over powering the preamp. I want to say most people use 700mw
I have a couple of True RC X2 aerials coming I heard they go into the bottom connectors? I’m not sure regarding the retransmits though as to which one that is. I should use another patch antenna on this one to? Thanks for the help.
@@stonesrcchannel on the goggle x the transmit antenna is top left (on your head for reference). Both WS and DJI will ask to have packets retransmitted if the packet is lost or interrupted. If you only use an omni and are try to fly far your re-trasmit antenna will limit you if it needs to ask to rebroad cast packets. A patch that focus the signal will be helpful. Gday matey, ages since I watched one of your vids, but very timely. I've been going back and forth between the HDZero and Walksnail as I was about to embark on my own digital journey. I'd recently decided to go for walk snail and like you, I was wondering abou the range on fixed wing. Also like you, I'm disappointed with 1.6Km although I am looking forward to see how well the goggles X work in with my old analog gear so that I can keep using my old gear with the new for the long range flights. Up to now I've been working with an ancient analog box goggle so the digital goggles represent a major upgrade for me. I did see one guy with pretty decent range using some cheap home made (3D print) helicals. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CYphV5FPbYc.html Thanks for this vid and the commentary of what you're trying to achieve, always appreciated.
Hi and thanks for the comment, I do hope once i upgrade the aerials it will improve considerably although i can't see it being as good as my 1.3g systems. I did originally buy the GoggleX for the analog and to keep the long range 1.3g setup, but now flying HD, i think all my planes will be eventually upgraded to HD.
@@stonesrcchannel Hmmm, I was going to purchase the exact same camera/VTX combo that you're using, but now I'll just get the goggles and wait for the new range to be released in a couple of months. It's supposed to have 4 times the range, but we are at the pre-product release hype stage so we'll see how that all goes when released. Thanks again, you really helped me with my purchase decision.
@@FixedWing Oh thats good to hear i haven't heard anything regarding range increase as yet so fingers crossed for that. I feel the walksnail system has heaps to improve i hope they keep going the way they have been so far although i it has been a shame they seemed to release the goggle x a bit soon which is why they have copped a bit of bad reports. In saying that i have had nothing to complain about i ungraded the heatsink and run the latest firmware and everything works well. Like i said in the video my only disappointment is the range but i'm sure that will improve as i upgrade the aerials and better products are released in the future.
