the PSVR2 is everything I wanted out of the Rift S, even with the missing features, I don't have a Ps5, I got it just for PCVR and I absolutely love it
@retrosimon9843
@retrosimon9843 4 часа назад
The "missing" features depend on software supporting said features. Nothing Sony can do about that. If and when they release some of their own VR titles on PC i do expect them to support eye tracking, HDR and sense haptics. Then there is no excuse.

Be sure to install the drivers for the bluetooth adapter! The TP-Link UB500 is recommended by sony and most people see much better controller tracking and connection when that adapter is properly updated.

For price of over thousand dollars/Euros (full setup) the VALVE INDEX IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE. I would recommend Index if it was cheaper but for some reason the price hasn't changed since 2019 when the headset came out. Considering the perks as this video mentions for Quest 3 and the fact you need a pc for the Valve Index, just buy Quest 3. If the Valve Deckard comes out then just sell your Quest 3 for lower price, it's not the best option but the only one I know of.

As someone who has bought a valve index recently, I truly think it is still worth it (depending on what you’re looking for ofc). I personally enjoy the extreme audio quality (both sound and microphone), the knuckle controllers, and the comfortable head strap. I also fully play pc vr, and I genuinely prefer a cable. Sorry I know this is kinda just rambling. But basically, if you want a really great pc vr experience, and you don’t care about it being wireless, or having AR, get an index if you can afford it.

Quest 3 user using it only for pcvr... only ever owned a reverb g2, q3 seems better visually. Tracking seems awesome. But the wireless experience is just ridoculous. Feels plug and play woth vortual desktop. 0 troubleshooting. Of they add oled, wifi7, 130-140fov with 30ppd, id happily dish out 1500buck for it. O and aspherical lenses too! I really think the quest 4 will be jist that at 600-700 bucks in 3 years time. Hopefully the valve index 2 (deckard) will deliver the above within 2 years time. Not sold on the smaller bigscreen hmd s because anything at that pricepoint needs to be vr 2.0 amf with that fov + lack of wireless, im not convinced

@@MBaderson yes they stopped manufacturing couple of months ago and removed the ads from steams frontpage and are preparing for the deckard is my guess. buying an index in 2024 is crazy with how outdated the resolution and clarity is compared to other much cheaper headsets. i think their next headset will be very similar to the quest3 but with the quality and clarity of the apple vision pro. but vr is a tough sell right now with both sony and meta doing exclusive content. you need to own 3 different headsets to experience vr to its full extent. RE exclusive to PSVR and Asgard Wrath exclusive to Meta etc these are some of the biggest games right now.

I have a question, I just recently jumped down the rabbit hole of VR headsets looking for one for myself and my family. It seems like the 2 options right now that are tied is the Valve Index and Quest 3. I don't know which one to get, as someone who games on a pc a lot the 2 hour battery life on the quest seems really awful, but the resolution and pancake lenses seem to trump the Valve index. Though the Valve index with the Index controllers and base stations for tracking seem to be way ahead of the Quest controllers and tracking. Could I get the Quest 3 and get the Index controllers and base stations and use them with the quest 3, do they work well together? Or would be it more beneficial to just get the Valve Index and lose some resolution in the lenses for the FOV/quality of the headset and PCVR? if you or anyone has any suggestions or advice, would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
@Grimdehawk

Also as a glasses wearer and a bigger head if those 2 things play into comfortability/use with the 2 headsets PS: I realize that this choice for me would be so much easier if there was a store nearby that had all VR headsets or at least the popular ones on display to test, but to my knowledge I have yet to find any such place that would have this, Arcade or gaming store. I've seen a few that have the Quest demos but nothing showing Valve Index to compare the 2. So im stuck diving down the rabbit hole of Videos and articles trying to piece together which would be better for myself. Its been interesting So thanks again for the video and any help you or anyone else could provide :D

A very common problem these days and if you are asking what my opinion would be I would advise looking more towards the Quest 3. The price/spec balance is much better with a newer headset like that one and as much as I am a big fan of the Valve Index it just isn't worth the full price anymore in today's day and age with the new tech coming and going quickly for 5 years since its release. A Quest 3 will just give you everything you need to get started and even though there will always be drawbacks with every headset I think overall it offers the best package for the price and it is a solid gateway to venturing further into the VR hobby. As for glasses I would think they won't be too much of a bother with the eye relief options on the facial interface and otherwise there are really good accessory manufacturers making plenty of options for the Quest lineup also with custom prescription lenses. Using Index controllers is very possible with basestations and a few programs to make it work in tandem, hook the Quest 3 up to a powerbank and you can get some more PCVR joy out of it too, but I would think this an option after orientation on the basics first. This is all, ofcourse, just a suggestion based on my own experiences with both but it seems to fit the bill in terms of what you mention as of now. Upgrades can always happen down the line and starting with a cheaper option really helps find your footing in the VR hobby without spending too much just for it to gather dust, combine that with the versatility and ease of sharing it with others like family member and I believe it to be a solid package! If I ever could I would absolutely put up a storefront exactly as you mentioned to put headsets up for trying as this was also my problem at the start and no one can have the exact same experience so you only truly know once you try... But I do hope this info helps you on the way to making a decision!
@Grimdehawk
@Grimdehawk 4 месяца назад
@MBaderson Thank you so much for all the information. I think you are right. For the price, the features, the resolution, the quest 3 seems unmatched. With that in mind a couple more questions regarding the headset and PCVR. Do you have any good recommendations for a power bank for the Quest 3, something you have used/liked to use with it and possibly a recommendation for a 3rd party head band, have read a bunch of different things saying the headband that comes with it is very uncomfortable. When using the quest 3 for PCVR what method do you recommend to connect the headset to pc. Quest link, Virtual desktop or steam link? Thank you again for the help!
@MBaderson
@MBaderson 4 месяца назад
@@Grimdehawk Battery banks I am not familiar with sadly and I cannot recommend anything based on my own usage, though I can believe anything giving a little more playtime is a plus in my book. Head strap wise I personally use the Meta Elite strap without the battery as it just helps a lot with the weight distribution but brands like KIWI are a solid pick for affordable and quality products, this combined with Steam Link mainly for ease of use would be my setup :)
