0 - totally uninspired by AI and it puts me off Adobe's stuff. There are parts of Photoshop that I like but over the last few years it has become totally dull and the AI is the worst. Finding more interest in tools like Cavalry as well as Affinity and Rebelle. Only issue is how hard it is to cancel from Adobe. For my work, Photoshop 6 (yes, a while ago) still is fine

A few years ago I signed up for what I thought was an art mentorship with you and missed our first call because I had signed up for it so long ago, I didn’t realize that was the only call, but I felt almost scammed considering I got no reminder from you or any attempt to reach out to me. I had written up a long response that I was going to email you, and file a claim through PayPal but ultimately I decided it was my own fault, even if it would have been nice if you offered to reschedule. I almost used the indignation from the experience to work even harder in my own art journey, I even thought I’m gonna build a fan base then call Adam out for scamming me. As time went on, my annoyance cooled and I eventually forgot that it even happened, it turned out to be an insignificant amount of money for me and as I’ve started teaching myself, I realized it was a fair price. So I haven’t being following you since that happened and realize that I’m late to this controversy, but when I clicked on this video I was ready to be on the opposition, but you ended up touching on a lot of points that I’ve been thinking deeply about lately, especially in regards to Ai. I think I agree with you fully about how creating and and being an artist isn’t about the end product, but more about the community you build, the experience you gain from creating and the person you become after dedicating so much of yourself to a craft. So great video Adam, I appreciate the role you serve for the art community, I think a lot of young and scared artists will really benefit from this specific video.

Adam, I'm glad it worked out for you this time, but if something like that happens again please call some movers, or at least have someone there with you in the same room to look after you, this is no joke. It doesn't matter what gym you go to or how strong you think you are, there's no shame in calling for help to move heavy things, please don't try to be a hero

Best review so far, honest and practical from someone actually using it for professional work. Not numbers that you can find online anyway. Keep it up!

This is really nice videos! I love this analysis format because it is awesome to hear you talk about your passion :) You have been focusing on helping your community so much and talking about all sorts of problems to help others. Now this video is more more about you and your craft and yor relationship to your art! Thanks you for the mentorship back in 2016 Adam! Greetings Malte

I normally respond really well to your deeper talks about struggle, but when listening and sketching to this video I started to realize that what you consider true pain and what I am experiencing on a daily basis are on completely different levels. Not to invalidate what you went through, of course. We all have pain and everyone's experiences are valid. But from the perspective of someone like me that has lived in the literal gutter of life since childhood, these issues you are using as a basis and illustration for this idea of pain being a teacher just do not resonate or hold weight compared to the kind of struggle I know. I don't have the luxury to even know what it is like to own enough things that I can come to a realization that everything is just clutter. I can't afford the headspace to consider that the terrible things I've experienced were actually beneficial to me. This kind of "pain as a teacher" mindset is the same that my mother used to justify and "come to terms" with years of marital abuse and I have never once agreed with it. I guess what I am saying is, your philosophy here is valid but not for everyone and not for all pain, not for all experiences. I feel like it has layers of privilege and/or copium that I could never really relate to. Can't really tell someone who's starving on the streets or who can't function due to cognitive/mental ailments that the pain they are experiencing is going to teach them how to live better, for example.

One of my favourite designs from the DLC. Looking at doing a whole tattoo flash sheet based off the new content from the frenzy flame lore. Can wait to play with black contrasting with monochromatic warm oranges and yellows.

Sorry for bad english. As i am hearing this i am doing a storyboard for my thesis project, and I am already in a lot of pain because I do have disc herniation as well as you. I Am almost crying because you inspire me that I can change, not just my art but also my situation in many ways. About to be 25 years old and enduring this pain for the last year since mid march that I even got semi paralized for around a month and half. Thank you mr adam. I'll keep on going.

Thank you for making this video. I’m in art school right now but have also been around the online art community who have a habit of pushing artists towards spending every waking hour of their time creating until they burn out and never want to pick up a pencil and draw again. Because of that, I’ve felt super guilty for having multiple hobbies like reading and playing video games, and just learning about things from science to history and politics. It’s hard to not get swept up into feeling like I’m not a “real” artist unless everything I eat, sleep and breathe is art and having normal boundaries to preserve the longevity of not only a hobby I enjoy but a craft that I hope to make my career is a “bad” thing.

You're 100% correct about refresh rates. I've tested dozens of different monitors and the difference between 144hz to 480hz is greatly exaggerated.

It’s so funny to watch this video, I have always hated there software and the tedious buggy UI within much of their programs. But after they bought Macromedia Freehand my favorite vector drawing software at the time, and then they just tossed it in the trash, yet it was so much more intuitive than Illustrator, they only bought it kill it off. Well after that I really couldn’t stand the company, and they really haven’t done anything to change my opinion. I had to use it nonetheless because it was what we had at work. As I worked with new hires and young interns, they would rave about the software and I alway would let them know how bad and buggy the software really was, as well as how I didn’t like there business model and practices. Most didn’t understand my views, but they also were much young than I, and didn’t know their history as I did. Nor had they used some of the other types of software I had learned on for editing video and drawing, most of which died when the Amiga, and then SGI went belly up. But people didn’t have many other choices after that, and any good choices there were, well they bought them out. Thank goodness we have many choices today.

I would love more of these videos, just breaking down character/monster design like this is incredibly fun to do. This would be an amazing thing to do on the creature designs in Returnal also, that’s one of my favorite games next to Bloodborne for its beautiful creature and level design.
