A childhood friend has recently begun painting digitally, and he's so good at it that I know he would love this thing. If I win it I'm gifting it for his birthday. Heck, even if I don't win I'll just straight up buy the Lite version for both of us.

About Ctrl-Z… I have configured on my Tourbox a setup where the wheel rotating to the left does many undo’s, and redo’s when turned to the right. Works nice for trying out stuff, and revert when you’re not satisfied

Might be a weirder one but I would customize it to focus on layer management. The main stuff I would bind in Photoshop would be: • Activate the Layer above/below - *Alt+]* || *Alt+[* • Add layer above/below - *Alt+Shift+]* || *Alt+Shift+[* • Move Layer above/below - *Ctrl+]* || *Ctrl+[* • Merge - *Ctrl+E* • And some selection stuff To what knobs? idk

I'm a 3D artist and I work primarily in Blender. So I'd definitely remap all those crazy shortcuts like ctrl+alt+shift+c 100%. And shortcuts that make you look down at the keyboard for sure. Btw, thank you for your videos, they always serve as support for me, not only in terms of creative path, but also in life ❤

I think this smaller one is super nice. I think especially with just practicing, where you don’t really need a ton of other functions. A lot less to remember 😂 I’d defo have: Zoom in/out Eyedropper Undo/redo Brush Eraser

Adam, thank you so much for all the great content you post and for the chance of winning this device! Aside from the basic stuff like undo-redo and pen size, I would definitely add to that color picking since that's primarily how i blend my colors when I paint, but mostly I'd have a horizontal and vertical mirror shortcut. My traditional painting teacher always liked to have us look at the piece in the mirror and paint upside down from references in order to catch all the little mistakes that get magnified when you look at it in a different angle or orientation, and I have naturally translated that into my digital painting and this tool seems perfect for that.

Just got this gadget. Im primarily a traditional media artist with some photoshop and Lightroom experience. I have an older wacom cintiq that isnt touch so i have to stop what im doing to even just zoom and change the angle. So im hoping this gadget helps my work flow, as a i grow as a digital artist.

I've been keeping my eyes on the tourbox for a while but haven't been in a place to buy the elite yet. You might have won me over on the lite 😅 I don't have anything really streamlining my process right now so even 12 buttons would be a big step up for me. Thank you for this review! I trust and respect your opinion. I know you care about your followers too much to steer them wrong and I feel well informed on this product and how it compares to the other models now. ❤️

I just got mine, still getting used to it. It feels really good when using photoshop and I know I'm going to save so much time using the shortcuts. Being able to zoom with a scroll with my left hand is a highlight so far. Probably wont be able to go back to keyboard once I've gotten used to this, great accessory for artists!

I have an older Wacom that has the buttons and sliders around the edge of my screen. While I don't mind them, they can be cumbersome to use for photo adjustments and can be a bit unreliable for adjustments while drawing. With my drawing, I would configure for pen size, rotation of work, colour picking and transformations; for Lightroom, I would use more for fine-tuned colour adjustments for tone and saturation, contrast etc. Thank you for the opportunity to win a tool like this. I can definitely see that this would increase work speed and clean up my desk!

Seems amazing Adam, and thank you for the opportunity! Well I'd definitely put in zoom in/out, pan, rotate, new layer, undo, brush, eraser, flip horizontal (I've been using flip a lot strangely), trim, brush stroke and distort. These would do to keep me away from my keyboard most of the time :) Good luck to everyone

Personally it’s a no brainer to set the dial to brush size and maybe set the dpad to cycle through layers. A single button tap for canvas flip, a single button to toggle eraser, and if there’s an analog I’d use that to move the canvas around. Also, an iPad version would be a dream come true. Make it small with a disc-like form factor and indented buttons. The philosophy would be leisure, u could use it sitting on a couch or in bed like a clicker. Cheers!

I was just thinking the other day about needing something like this and was pricing a gaming macro side-pad thing for handling shortcuts, but this is way more practical looking. I'll probably grab the lite version to try, maybe upgrade if it works for me. The knob for sizing is the main selling point for me. edit: if I were to customize my own I'd add programmable RGB backlighting to the buttons so I could color coordinate my preset layouts for various things.

I have always wanted a tool with scrollwheels, I would definitely use it to shortcut the 'C' command in Clip Studio Paint as it does the same thing as the '~' in Photoshop. I would definitely set something to shift around the brushes so I don't need to use the mouse as much.
@natsushi

The main reason I mostly draw on the ipad instead of my computer is the hassle of all the different shortcuts I’ve tried but never seem to get used to. This would solve so many problems and probably make the painting process much more fun! Thank you for giving us a chance to win one 🫶 Edit: forgot to add my customization: rotating the canvas with the knob and toggling between layers and brushes/brush sizes would be my most used ones!

Well to be honest I'm not entirely sure on what specific shortcut mods I'd make outside of generalized ideas 😅. My process isn't entirely streamlined yet, doesn't help that I've dipped my toes into one too many interests lol, but I'd definitely be using this for about near everything ( 2D/3D, video & audio ). Regardless, my brain has always had an aversion with retaining shortcuts (especially in blender 😑) so having the convenience to streamline a lot of actions across multiple workflows would definitely speed up the workload as a whole Been a fan and follower of your channel and journey for a couple years now, and I just want to say that you have been an astounding source of inspiration and motivation during some darker spots, both creatively and along life as a whole. Thank you for all you put into your art and your talks!☺

Having a rotation/canvas flipping workflow with the TourBox would be awesome. And I'm sure it's super simple to set up! I use a Razer Tartarus right now and while I think it's awesome, I could certainly see this becoming a much better companion. All the buttons on the Tartarus are the same and it's my #1 complaint. Just when I think I'm getting into the groove of things, BAM! I forget where I am on the keyboard, wondering why I have the lasso tool brought up instead of my eraser. Will definitely look into picking one of these up!

I love my tourbox Elite. I bought it as a gamble to replace my dying Razer Nostromo, part of the reason why i bought it was because of your recommendation Adam! Its helped a lot with ergonomics for my hand and in general sped up my process. I have a portable setup too and I take the Elite with me but many times I forget to take it. I was thinking of getting another one but it is a bit too pricey andthis Lite version looks like the answer.

that's fascinating, I never new those existed. I would use it to fix the problem with my old drawing tablet, the software is outdated so some of the photoshop keys like control alt or shift can't be mapped only the letters keys or numbers. This results in me having to reach over to my keyboard to hold down on a command key so my shortcuts work. Now that I think about it, investing into an upgraded tablet would probably solve all these issues lol

Fully agree, an iPad version of this tool would change my workflow significantly! The one real gripe I have with procreate, is the amount of time it takes, and attention it requires to change the brush size and opacity. Artstudio pro and infinite painter have a decent solution to this with the 3 finger swipe, but something like this would be even faster and less disruptive. Definitely going to be looking out to see if they do develop something like this. Thanks for sharing Adam!🤜🤛

"How Would You Customize Your Own TourBox?" - well I would definitely use the scrollwheel to change opacity of a brush I would use the round dial to cahnge thebrush size and I would bind the toggle between same brush and eraser on the top Button maybe I would also bind the "move/hand" tool in Photoshop to the far right button

I use a mobile tablet to draw and I rarely use a keyboard because I have to constantly glance away from the screen to use shortcuts. I can keep some stuff in the command bar or the quick access menu in clip but it slows down my workflow to navigate menus all the time if I want to adjust my brush size or open sub view or use the line tool or anything else that doesn't fit in the command bar. I'd probably put a button on there for dragging the page too, just to prevent accidental movement with my palm.

This would be perfect! I change my brush size all the time, so I'd definitely be using the scroll wheel for that. One button for color picking, perhaps one for flipping the canvas, and one for switching between brush and eraser. One with ctrl+z and one for saving is also a must lol
@CanonThought

I would customize one so that not only would knobs control brush size, but also to increase or decrease stabilization. The classic undo/redo, a quicksave, shortcuts to swap colors or clear pallets. Maybe even shortcuts for full recorded actions! Like for setting up multiple layers for lines, colors, shadows, etc with a single click

Thank you for the video! TourBox is the No 1 on my artist wishlist (when I actually find a new job and can afford it) )) I draw in Krita but it works super nice with it too as I've heard. I constantly use long shortcuts such as ctrl+shift+V (it's for pasting copied selection to the same layer). Also, brush size on a ring or a dial is a must-have. I'm so used to adjusting it this way that I'm always looking for a drawing pad with this button (or a touch ring).

Definitely would have one knob as my brush size and one rotation. But know that I know about the tilde shortcut that's going on there. That's as good as when I found out that if you hold alt while using the brush or switches to the color picker.

I'm not sure how I would customize it yet but I would be excited to play around with the settings to see what I would like I didn't know the tool before, but I've seen how it moves through the Photoshop tools menu, the layers... and it blew me away, literally, it seems too easy to be real. I suspect that it can also be a very good tool to smooth out interaction when working in different programs without losing the flow when everyone uses different shortcuts.

I'm honestly loving the idea of the Lite way more, and 12 buttons is definitely more than enough to get the job done~ Also loving that it plugs in versus runs on Bluetooth, very much prefer that so you know it'll always be working. And that price difference?! Wowza! I've always had a hard time streamlining my art process, especially when I'd come any stage after getting my inking done. So I think having something like this would really help with getting into a more natural feeling progression, instead of having to stop every two minutes to look down at the keyboard again ^^;

I have eyeing the old "special gaming keypads" for something like this for a while. Maybe people remember. A small keyboard wiht only macrokeys and highly ergonomic. This tho looks r eally awesome and simple, in the best way. I would need to fumble with it to really say how I bind it. But I would be really interested how it feels in node-based programs like nuke or houdini, especially programms with multiple views / viewports which all are context sensitive regarding keybinds, havign the wheel for navigation in the 3D viewpanel - scrubbing the timeline when on the timeline and using it as a dial for putting in values on edit menus; comes to mind from the top of my head.

What do you say about left handed people of using this. Is it comfortable (in your opinion) for the right hand? How would I map my keys (photoshop) - 1. CTRL+Alt+Shift+E would have to be one of my buttons. 2. New canvas 3. Layer Mask ( Ctrl \ ) 4. Space / Move tool 5. Pen tool 6. Brush Tool 7. Eraser 8. Copy Ctrl + C 9. Paste Ctrl + V 10. Default color D (B&W) 11. Select tool 12. Polygonal lasso tool Why these tools - Because mostly I do ads and all of the tools that are named here are used in the project and to me which are the most important (plus more). I've used the Clip Studio Tabmate for like a year, and it's made switching tools and functions so easy, but the product itself is poorly built and the scroll wheel on it already isn't working. I would use this in a similar manner, especially putting brush size on a dial, that has been the best QoL improvement. Swap between brush and eraser, undo/redo, color picking, lasso tool etc.

This seems like a wonderul addition to workflow! I would for sure keep the brush size dial. Maybe switch another dial to zoom in and out. What if one is for colour gradient! So I can test out depth and brightness on the fly. Switch between tools is a must for sure. For concept art i use different texture brushes all the time to create the ideal end texture result. But that's just 2d. SCULPT TOOLS IN BLENDER! A dream come true! It would make sculpting so much more fun and intuitive. My mind is racing with possibilities xD I would for sure want to cycle through blend options, improve my paint studies. Is it weird to get excited to paint again because of a single accessoire?

I would customise the TourBox to make working across multiple screens easier with a stylus! I often get annoyed how difficult it is to affect software in a different monitor when painting or 3D modelling, so knowing I could easily program keys to perform this for me would be brilliant! The amount of scroll wheels are exciting also! I have one wheel on my screen tablet that lets me change brush size, but what about brush rotation and opacity? I'd love to have an option to change these without digging into settings.

I believe so much in being able to seamlessly sit down and do art and this thing would help me with that immensely. i personally use a Razer Tartarus Pro for my display tablet, more macros and more buttons buttons and i cannot see myself leaving this for some dials. But this looks like it could be a decent tool for some users.

I would use the knob for everything haha, rotating the canvas, the brush size, etc.

Uu, if I were to win it I'd probably set up the top button to flip my canvas, since it's an action that doesn't require feedback like scrolling

You can just build your own custom controllers using arduino. Way cheaper, more extendable and customizable. The electronics used in this are maybe 10-30 bucks, depending on quality an precision.

I currently have a pad from Huron that drives me crazy this looks like a beauty. That sideways upper button is meant to be a flip canvas button and also I wonder if I can make a shortcut with the upper left wheel to slide select tools on the toolbar in Ps.

How Would You Customize Your Own TourBox? as a 3D artist i use both blender and Zbrush. the keyboard shortcut certainly don't help being all over the place and me being left handed make it alittle worst to reach for them. If i had a tourbox it would help alot in term of get work done faster with less look for the key short cuts.

When will procreate take add keyboard shortcuts? No sacrifice to being touch-centric. I use a Bluetooth-connected mouse on my iPad in some apps. If you don’t want to bother with onscreen quick menus, use mouse or keyboard shortcuts. Some features for mouse or keyboard key assignment are in iPad settings.

I would use my own TourBox Lite to help me with digital painting with clp studio paint as well as cosutimizing it with blender nodes within blendr for quicker way of procuderally enivormnent creation. Just Subscribed to the troubox channel as well.

Thanks for the review! I think you have a Xencelabs display 24 there in the background. Do you find the Tourbox better or easier to use than the Xencelabs remote?

I was puting saving to get the elite. But now I know there is a Lite version who is sufficient enough for digital painting and a bit of photo editing. How Would I Customize My Own TourBox? Probaby putting all the shortcut I had to change on softwares because I'm left handed

Having the dpad stuff at the bottom to change between tool shortcuts is the second best thing after brush size. This one looks nice, but I think the extra buttons on the elite are so worth it.

Does anyone know, does the knob have tactile steps? (clicks or any other registration) I find that without steps, I need to wait for the cursor brush outline on PS to respond when intuitively I know exactly how many steps up /down I want the brush to resize. Having tacticle steps in the knob allows me to not wait for a sometimes laggy PS to just do its thing. My current workaround is to use the mouse wheel on the 1st gen tourbox.

How Would You Customize Your Own TourBox? I would customise the tour box to use with ZBrush. I'd also look for ways of customising it for general PC use if that's possible.

Still not a fan, I have a macro pad that does everything that can and it wasn't 100 bucks, scratch that, it wasn't even half that price. I don't doubt it can work for someone, it just isn't for me.
