This is a non-promotional educational channel providing authentic clinical information on various topics related to endocrinology and diabetes. There are three sections of medical education focused on this channel.
1. Specialist registrars training in D&E 2. Doctors not specialising in D&E but facing patient cases with endocrine problems on a day to day basis requiring basic info 3. Public awareness on diabetes among patients from urdu speaking parts of the world
The vision is the same. Make it simplified for everyone to understand endocrinology and diabetes; hence, comes the name "endocrinology & diabetes simplified" just for you.

@coreman8087 each pen has FOUR dosages of the dedicated strength mentioned on the box. It is supposed to be finished in 1 month and discarded after the patient has taken the FOUR weekly doses
Any way for the volume to be adjusted? I thought it was me, but have tried other videos, and seems to be just this one. Sadly, I am unable to hear anything.
@shirleyhastings1003 after 4 weeks you should get clinical judgement from your endocrinologist to decide about dose escalation. I normally avoid dose increases and utilise other mechanisms along with same dose of mounjaro to avoid treatment failure or weight regain. Please discuss with your endocrinologist further advice
@kanefisher2913 yes that's fine. The idea is to see a drop coming out of it. Usually the pressure of attaching the needle would also show a drop coming out. So one click is also fine for priming needle
It's best to get the maximum benefits on a minimal effective dose. I always start at 0.25mg and escalate as per response only if necessary. You don't want to be in a position to reach maximum dose and no clinical benefit. Please ensure your have supervision of your endocrinologist
Hello, I have a 5mg pen but it’s too strong for me. The 2.5mg dose is too weak. Can you help me understand how many clicks I would need to dispense 3.5mg. Thank you 🙏
@vicyy please check which pen device you have. If you have the 5mg pen device, then you need 30 clicks to get 2.5mg dose but please ensure you show your device to your endocrinologist to avoid wrong dosing
Unfortunately this video doesn’t say how can we use this extra fluid and also it doesn’t clarify why it is not safe to use it…. Sorry but it doesn’t serve the purpose 😢
@madiharaiteb1389 it's a company fault and trying to get the fluid out is going to get contamination including mixing with broken plastic nanoparticles if too much force used. It's not a safe option... few ml fluid is not worth compromising on your safety and injecting things that may be carcinogenic causing serious health issues like cancers. The purpose of this video was to guide towards safety and not compromise on health for few ml of fluid.... please stay safe
What about 0.5 pen? How can we use for 0.25 dose? Should we do the same? Should we split the initial dose in 2? Is that 36 clicks as well? I am not sure how many clicks it has as I ordered my pen on line and still didn’t get it.
Everyone claiming that they don't feel any pain at all when injecting the needle is full of sh*t! I just completed my very 1st injection a few minutes ago and I definitely felt a slight sting, like a small bee sting...yeah yeah i'm being overly dramatic!!😂
Hi, what would be the side effects if I start my dose at 0.50ml? I previously tried 1ml of Wegovy and because of the side effects, I stopped and wasted the whole pen. I wonder if Ozempic has the same side effects. Thanks
@optimisticnoname4507 always ensure you have endocrinologist supervision. Yes it's same molecule with same side effect profile... ozempic and Wegovy are exact same thing... starting dose always 0.25mg
Hello i wish you answer me can i share my mounjaro kwikpen with someone else and only change the needle ? If not can i put inject the medication on on another syringe and give it to another one
Sharing any injectable drugs with needles among different patients continues to be a risk for transmitting some serious infections like hepatitis, HIV etc. Hence this is a highly discouraged practice among healthcare professionals. Normally, the pen is meant to be used by only one patient to ensure that there is no cross contamination of devices. If a new needle is used every time with an aseptic/clean technique then the fluid inside the pen device is clean. A new needle on same device is theoretically clean method but this practice is still highly discouraged as risk of any infection transmission (hepatitis/HIV/ other STI) is not worth being taken by such practice among unknown patients. Taking out fluid is even a worse option because we don't even know about efficacy of molecule once it is taken out of the air tight glass tube. In simple terms, the answer is "no", I'd highly discourage such practice for Patient's safety
@@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified I took a shot of .25 to complete my dose of .5 mg after 45 hours now when will i take the next dose of .5 on friday or on Wednesday i usually take my shot on Wednesdays ?
Hi. I want to divide the 15 dose to 8 doses of 7.5 and that will be for 8 weeks is that safe. And I am travillng after second dose is it ok to save the pen in cooler for long trip. Thanks
@AydaAlmuti it's not recommended by company to use pen longer than 6 weeks as efficacy of molecule becomes questionable... please ensure you have supervision of your endocrinologist
Hello! I have a question: is it possible to start the treatment with let's say 0.15 mg at first by rotating as much as it is necessary? I want to make my body used to it, to avoid the side effects. Thank you.
@joeflores9097 yes that's true. This is licenced for treatment of type 2 diabetes as well as uncontrolled obesity. It does help reasonable amount of weight loss for those suffering with obesity
@joeflores9097 this drug is not too be used for slim diabetes patients and can be more dangerous. I'd strongly discourage its use in slim patients of diabetes as you can significantly lose weight. Moreover slim diabetes patients can usually be type 1 diabetes where appropriate evaluation for insulin is required
@joeflores9097 yes I'm a consultant endocrinologist, and deal with several such cases daily in my clinic. But this youtube forum is not for patient advice. I only mentioned this to you for your best interest as you raised concern and i felt it was unsafe decision for you. You still need to see an endocrinologist who can evaluate your situation Giving any GLP to a slim diabetes Patient is the wrong clinical judgment. So perhaps you may think about changing your endocrinologist
This is maybe a stupid question. But isn’t the 2.5/5/7.5/10/12.5/15mg the strengths of the dose? So would taking half of a 15mg pen dose have the exact same affect as 7.5mg pen x 1 dose? If yes then why wouldn’t everyone buy a 15mg pen and use the relevant clicks to dose at 2.5/5/7.5 etc and save a bunch of money?
Ok, quick question. My Dr. just raised my dosage from 0.5 mg to 1 mg. I've got 1.5 pens of the 0.5 mg dosage in my refrigerator right now. Is it safe to take two of those 0.5 mg dosages to reach the 1 mg full dosage prescribed until my new 1 mg pen arrives? If not, I may just wait until those pens are used to start the 1 mg dosage, as I really don't want to waste that much medicine.
@charlesrary5320 yes you can take 0.5mg injection twice to make a 1mg dose. But you will need two needles and two injections sites. Alternative option is to inject 0.5mg twice in a week in day 1 and day 3 to receive 1mg dose for the while week. Both options are safe but ensure needles are new and sites of injection clean plus injection storage at correct temperature
What if I use .25 from a .50 what happens to the remaining .25? Does it go to waste? Or I can reclick 18 more times or click all the way or it’s a lost .25 dose
@karenfeldman-oz8208 nothing is lost. You can take 0.25mg as next dose with the next injection. Please see the video again, I have explained this point about duration of pen usage
@@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified I started my .5 pen as .25 but I want to use it as .5 the second week, can I do that or I now have to use my .5 as .25 since I already set it as a .25?
Why is it necessary to rotate injection area? I am more comfortable in the belly area, I am starting my 3rd box today, I did do my thigh 2 weeks ago and It felt sore, I did not like that.
@corinasifuentes1977 you can rotate area on same place like one side of abdomen and then opposite side. It's to ensure good efficacy of drug and not have accumulation at one site
