Hi I have 5 mg pen for one months can I use same pen instead for two month . I just want to use 2.5gm every weak . And what will happen if i use same pen for two months . Thank you

@zulaikhabasharat5118 the recommendation from company is not to exceed usage beyond 6 weeks as efficacy of molecule is questionable if device used longer than 6 weeks... however patients have used it for up to 8 weeks. As long as you have your endocrinologist supervision, storage is correct, fluid is clear and clinical response is good, you may be OK 👍 But ensure you have your endocrinologist endorsing your dosing decision

I realise there’s an expiration date but and it supposed to be used within 30 days but the expiry dates are for next year sometimes

Because big pharma wouldn’t be making loads of money if everyone knew they could do that .

Thank you for the quick answer ​@@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified! After my first dose yesterday (which was half a dose of the 5mg Kwikpen), I started getting pains today accros my body. It is nothing that stops me from moving or doing any other function so i dont feel bad but i have a hypersensitivity in my body (for example the weight of the shirt that i am wearing on my sholders hurts). Is this a regular effect of taking mounjaro? Of course I will consult with my doctor, but I wanted to check if you have any insight into this situation as well. Thanks!

It's not a licenced dose but if tolerance issues exist you may try 45 clicks on your Mounjaro 5mg pen which will be more than 2.5mg but less than 5mg

@vicyy please check which pen device you have. If you have the 5mg pen device, then you need 30 clicks to get 2.5mg dose but please ensure you show your device to your endocrinologist to avoid wrong dosing

@@laise512 dude 2.5mg is half of 5 mg, so half of 60 clicks is 30...

5 mg from a 7.5 mg pen is 40 clicks. Clicks = (dose required/standard pen dose) x 60

Nausea was fine on 7.5 infact it was like I was injecting water , hasn't really worked with the suppression 😮

​@sarahMaan-dw3cu you can count 24 clicks to receive 5mg. Ensure you have supervision vision of your endocrinologist, the fluid in pen is clear and your pen doesn't exceed the recommended duration of use... Good luck

@shirleyhastings1003 after 4 weeks you should get clinical judgement from your endocrinologist to decide about dose escalation. I normally avoid dose increases and utilise other mechanisms along with same dose of mounjaro to avoid treatment failure or weight regain. Please discuss with your endocrinologist further advice

I suggest sterilising the top of the pen to extend the expiry time of 30 days after first use

@GuilhermeSertorio-nx8ei that's correct and one pen will last 8 weeks unless you change dose from 7.5mg to higher or lower

Actually you will have 10 doses. There is a fifth dose as a rest in the pen. Just use e.g. a Diabetes syringe

@MohamedIbrahim-hj9li it has been used for longer than 6 weeks by some patients. But be careful about efficacy of molecule and speak to your endocrinologist if response not appropriate or any injection site reaction

@DinasUmhassn any extra dose left in the pen should be used with new needle. The pen is usually perfectly fine to be used till 6 weeks Ensure child chain is maintained and you have endocrinologist supervision for ongoing usage with correct dosing regime

@DinasUmhassn your dose will be decided by your doctor and adjusted as per response. I try to get maximum response from minimum dose to avoid side effects and prevent relapsed weight gain. It's best to always have starting dose of 0.25mg and go as per your response. It's best to discuss this with your endocrinologist. This demonstration was for someone who couldn't tolerate high dose and needed to take lower dose from the high dose pen. Later on they went on their higher dose as clinically needed

@saromaz6952 , ensure you have supervision of your endocrinologist to judge your clinical response. You don't want to be injecting a chemical in your body while not knowing what's it doing, esp if the usage is beyond the recommended box instructions and efficacy of molecule is questionable.

@ninaplei8519 people have used it off licence use, but efficiency can't be guaranteed after 6 weeks. That's why supervision of your endocrinologist is important for your own safety and getting adequate clinical response.

I’ve used mine for longer and it definitely still worked. In U.K. they’re now coming with an added sheet of paper to say they’ve got a longer shelf life. Also look on the side of the pen and it will say the expiry date (my one I’ve just finished Aug 24 says expiry date Jan 25. I don’t know about Mounjaro, but the wegovy instructions say you shouldn’t use if the liquid is cloudy.
