It’s too bad the radio still won’t transmit above 30 MHz even after the mod. It opens up everything below 30 but not above. I have a 28-146 plus 28-430 MHz transverter I wanted to use with this mod but I’m capped at 30-432. I need to tx at 42 MHz to hit some repeaters in the UHF band but this radio won’t go anywhere between 30 and 50 MHz, even after the mod. Still able to do a lot but would have been nice…
. Thank you again Zeb for making the Mars mod so simple and easy to follow! I just purchased my second FTDX10 and completed the mod a couple of minutes ago...with complete success!
Any reason to pull the bridge at the time you did ? If it were soldered, it would always be there anyway. Just wondering how ya came up with that. Thanks
Video greatly appreciated but the camera bouncing around made me seasick. 🌊 If you redo it, can I suggest a head mount, or better yet, a tripod and move the tarp away first? Thanks.
JP6 is just making a ground connection when you connect the 2 very close connection points. I just look over the service manual and that is all you are doing jumping a connection to complete a ground to wide band . look on page 34 of the FT-DX10 service manual to the bottom right hand side and you will see it JP1006. just do a search for the FT-DX10 Service manual.

@@iiobamnaxxiithethird3498 Nossa, o argumento dele é inválido só porque ele gosta de anime? Sério? Você é tão burro a ponto de não conseguir conversar ou debater e ter que xingar algo que o cara gosta?? Patético
Zeb, I have the newest firmware [VO1-10] and I was concerned that this "MARS" mod may not work. But it worked perfect. So thank you and have a wonderful day!
Update I bridge JP-6 permanently. Checked it with a meter and everything was good. Reset radio got the mod to work for two minutes and quit working checked for cold soldering joint nothing found mod does not work. It could be the fact that it’s the latest firmware.
@@chrisswartzwelder8494 worked for me. most likely you did something wrong and broke it. or you just a Icom guy and BS'ing " did Icom update there IC-730 firmware and all them mod'ded IC-7300s quit working to? I mean there so many.. I have a 3 month FTDX10 that I modded and after a fimware update it worked, and have done the same mod to 2 of my friends FTDX10's and my Fathers and they work prefect. Gigaparts does the same mod and it works as well as dx engineering. same jp6 mod,. it such a tiny dot of a solder bridge, a cold joint would not have mattered it still would have worked. it take a split second to do. you must have got solder on another jumper. don't make since. nothing to do with firmware updates.. did you hold the solder iron on the tiny tiny jump and cook the board and lift the trace. do you know how to solder?
Question......exactly WHAT cable did you buy to connect the external display? They is much controversy regarding a BI-DIRECTIONAL cable blowing out the board INSIDE the radio.
Just get a "DVI-D cable both ends" and use a "PC monitor or HDTV with a DVI-D INPUT" . DVI-D inputs are still widely used in "PC Graphics Cards & PC Monitors". DO not use any kind of HDMI to DVI-D Adapter!! DVI-D and HDMI are both Digital but HDMI carries other signals such as sound,.
Normally hams dont need to use 11 meters. If 11 is open so will 10 and 12 meters be. But you can identify the cb/hams by their on-air lingo. BIG TELL - "Ah QSL QSL QSL I copy you fine" is a prime example. The Q and Z codes are for cw and rtty/digital, never intended for voice as each requires 3 syllables just to say it. Try it, no lie. Normal hams would say "roger, copy you fine".
Wow, that's the craziest thing I've seen... holding a screwdriver in a $1700 radio with the power on.... people please don't do this... just remove the resistor or diode ....

it's great info, I just can't believe some people can't enjoy it for what it is without putting up negative comments,,,,,, the licenced armchair warriors are out, lol, take a chill pill, waiting to get my own licence and will be doing mods on anything I can, what's wrong with being able to receive and listen to more available frequencies?
