I will show you how to open up the transmit without voiding your warranty!!! This is a two part video. Click on my channel for part 2 where I explain a little about the reset and settings 73s.
Zeb, I have the newest firmware [VO1-10] and I was concerned that this "MARS" mod may not work. But it worked perfect. So thank you and have a wonderful day!
Unsure of why you pulled the screwdriver off before it rebooted? Once the radio see’s the pins shorted it doesn’t care if it stays there or not. Essentially you could solder the pads, reset the radio and remove the solder. Radio doesn’t care until the next time you do a full reset. Just FYI
. Thank you again Zeb for making the Mars mod so simple and easy to follow! I just purchased my second FTDX10 and completed the mod a couple of minutes ago...with complete success!
FYI: if you decide to do the temp juming of JP6, if you load your memories or menu stuff from your SD card, it will reset the radio back !! Ask me how I know.
Worked perfectly. JP6 is just making a ground connection when you connect the 2 very close connection points. I just look over the service manual and that is all you are doing jumping a connection to complete a ground to wide band . look on page 34 of the FT-DX10 service manual to the bottom right hand side and you will see it . just do a search for the FT-DX10 Service manual.
What changes were made in the firmware update? Haven't seen any info on it. How do you think this compares to the 7300. Is it worth the extra cash. I'm on the fence between the two. Thanks.👍
I do not have the 7300 but I was on the fence myself and went w the Yaesu. It’s an upgrade for the Icom. It’s basically a mini 101. Can’t beat that for the price.
If you're still wondering then there is a night and day difference ( in my opinion ) between the FTDX-10 and 7300, to me the audio of the DX10 is vastly better, much quieter noise floor and far easier on the ears, the Contour function also makes a big difference. The dx10 sounds good on AM Broadcast bands, the 7300 did not sound good because Icom cut a lot of the lows from the audio and using equaliser can't make up for it. The DX10 also does not overload and it's filters are much better at dealing with strong QRM, of course no radio can deal with bad behaviour that causes splatter but the receiver and audio on the DX10 is just fantastic. Well worth the money. Only thing I would have loved to see was higher resolution for the monitor. I think Yaesu have really nailed it when it comes to receive audio. The DX 10 sounds good on air as does the 7300 but really my greatest concern is receive audio and fatigue, lets put it this way, on the 7300 I had noise reduction on all the time with the DX10 hardly ever.
wow that's the craziest thing I've seen... holding a screwdriver in a$1700 radio with the power on.... people please don't do this... just remove the resistor or diode ....
