@@Chris_winthers "My daughters shall attend to you so nicely, my daughters do their nightly dance, and they'll rock you and dance you and sing you to sleep." If this is Erlkönig trying to lure a young boy into the woods, what do you think his daughters would look like?
@@Chris_winthers true, this video depicts the daughters as wolves. That is an exercise of creative license on the part of the animator, and does not necessarily reflect the vision of the composer or the writer of the original folk tale. Erlkönig's daughters are typically portrayed as elves in other iterations.
My music teacher played this song when i was in elementary school i finally found it after years of searching ,looking back at i don't understand why he played it, but i been so eager to find it
I’m learning about the Romantic Period in Music Appreciation and my teacher played this when talking about Franz Schubert. The art and music is haunting yet breathtaking.
It's interesting that the low E minor version of Erlkönig was chosen for this video rather than the original G minor version. They're both good, but the latter is more common.
I love this story so much, for the underlying, or maybe overlying? theme that the father is taking his sick child through the woods, and the erlking that the boy sees may not be a malicious spirit but delirium from an illness. But at the same time, it could very much be a spirit and the more the boy pays attention to it the more power it has to tear him away. Either way by the end he's dead, but the story is enchanting.
This video is amazing! The art, the sound, the piece! Thank you for sharing this amazing video here. I teared up by the ending 🥹 It was so sudden and full of sorrow, I was so scared and sad, even though I knew the ending, but I couldn’t stop my hopes 💔
This is terrifying and suspensful. It keeps me at the edge of my chair but I absoulutely love the artwork. I am also 10 years old and I have to watch this as part of my music history homework. I still can't believe how amazing the animation is.
