Don Beebe chasing down Lett in the Superbowl in a blowout game. He could of easily said fck it. But to give his all to the last whistle is the consummate pro. One of my favorite plays of any sport
We've seen a lot of Stanley Cup footage over the last month and what boggles my mind is (1) how the NHL acts like the Red Wings don't exist whenever they compile footage for adverts; but also (2) how this, arguably the most powerful moment in Stanley Cup history, is never discussed or revisited come playoff season.
just came here after watching the ABC broadcast...did scotty announce his retirement to CBC before anyone else??? even Stevie's in his interview on ABC during the celebration wouldn't say if he was retiring or not
This guy went to my high school. He won the Hobey Baker when I was in 10th Grade. The hockey program was never the same once he entered the high school
The Oilers were playoff chokers before this game. The Oilers lost in OT vs the Steelers in the 1989 season playoffs. The Oilers had a 21-6 playoff lead at Denver in the 1991 season playoffs and choked. The year after this game they got smashed by Buffalo in the regular season and then proceeded to go on an 11 game win streak and followed that up with another choke to old Joe Montana in their building.
I will never ever forget this moment me and my dad going nuts I was a little kid but I was infront of the tv with my red wing blanket such an amazing moment in history
This is one of my favourite Gretzky goals because it’s against Patrick Roy in a pivotal moment of a Stanley Cup finals game. And plus it’s just an amazing shot that bounced out as fast as it went in. Very cool goal.
Dowd had a lot of success in that arena from his days at Lake State in the CCHA tournament. Who knows how this series would have gone if they got to overtime and the Wings won it. I think it would have gone six or seven games.
EJ was a good guy..shame it just didn't work out for him. He never slacked and he tried to meet expectations but 🤷🏻♂️.. just couldn't. Always liked the guy.
