In Aug i had the chance to fly a Beech 18 and i was in awe for 2 weeks and i cant believe i had that experience and to see you do this. man nothing beats flying a old war bird and the sound
Interesting story and I’m surprised I don’t remember it from the time. Not sure what the stuff about a military school was? Woodbridge is a regular private day school with a boarding element and would have been coeducational at the time he was there. I guess he was in the combined cadet force.
I was at Woodbridge 86-88. I was referring to Kingham Hill school where I attended 81-86 It was heavily influenced by the CCF and many military children attended.

My wife and I just got back from Maui and we tried out all 3 of the places you recommended, and they were fantastic. We even stayed in Kihei at an awesome hotel that is just around the corner to the food truck. I’m not a pilot or don’t work at any airline. Just an ordinary person who loves Maui and your video showed up a Maui search. Thank you and I’m now a follower.
I am a "Rusty Pilot" and have not had the Privledge to fly in 19 years due to raising a family. Very nice video, enjoyed your flight. Here's my poem I wrote to share with you guys: Rusty Pilot Poem/Lament You scrape and save every penny while yearning to fly On a blue-collar wage, that you’re barely getting by Oh, to skim the surly bonds so fancy free This can’t be true that it’s happening to me. You study and learn airspace, Whiz wheels, VOR’s and E6B’s While you focus on performance charts and Center of gravity Your instructor reminds you, “Wilbur and Orville” from past ages They “looked outside and didn’t need no stinking gauges.” Off you go on your first solo, which becomes one of your greatest days As you pinch yourself saying, “this plane feels lighter, especially today.” freedom to fly is freedom indeed- but the Hobbs meter decides how far you’ll proceed Check ride passed, this is a dream come true Ask the instructor who really believed in you Raising a family comes first and the flying stops all too soon As I shout with a promise, “I’ll be back, maybe, hopefully by June.” Time flies when you’re not flying anytime soon As I dream about flying on a cool afternoon My kids heard my stories of when I used to fly They ask “Daddy what made you stop and why? My desire to one day fly will never waiver or wane when I spot a plane overhead, I still feel the pain Wife and Kids are older and money is still tight for me But one day when I pass on to heaven, it will be free. But for now, I’m a rusty pilot you see.
What a cool clubhouse. I wish I was in Van Nuys as I’d join. They often hand the planes down at great values to keep them in the family. Brenden how many flight hours do you have? Another great episode. These boys pull in close in formation. Skilled pilots
@@thereissomecoolstuff Definitely a pilot’s dream hangout! I’m hangin around 14K with about an hour of T-6 time. The coolest entry in the logbook for sure 😎
It took me a long time to develop the new sight picture for my 172 after fly a 737/757/767 for 28 years. I kept flaring 50ft too high. Not to mention a 60kt landing speed as opposed to 140kts. There are some pilots that have no problems with transitioning from one to the other but that wasn’t me.
I live in Oklahoma, wish he would talk about school, I got my private in 81, I worked for Piper FBO at OUN that had 15 trainers, who knows I might have crossed paths with him, I was with FBO till 91. Great interview !
I can't believe I stumbled onto this. Erika, I was in your ATR class at Eagle! I knew you would end up doing amazing things! Congratulations to you. You look fantastic and are a wonderful speaker.
Im not a pilot (yet), but as a yacht captain I would imagine that flying a 182 would be like going from a big power or sailing yacht, back to a small 25' sailboat and taking it out for a day sail. The basics are there but you have to reorient yourself to the small perishable skills.
Wow, a podcast with an airline CEO! What's next, John Travolta?!? This was outstanding Brendan. I always enjoyed hearing Brad talk but didn't know I was going to end up crying during this episode.
Great job on these Brendan! They remind me how much I loved being an airline pilot (even when I had to fly with you 🙂). Great to see the familiar faces as well.
Well done video. Thank you for the clear instructions on destination, times, altitude, type of 737. Glad I found your channel. Very professional pilot 🧑✈️
Brendon this is a great interview. Having emotional reactions in this process is special. You do a great job of interviewing. You better be careful or AA HR is going to grab you.
This was a classic “before and After” series. Fresh faced bushy tail leg one. Gassed on the 6 hr Hawaii close out. It’s unavoidable. I enjoy these videos. The leg and routing info is cool. Nice tribute to your crew member. My goal is to get on a SEA-SAN flight and hear your voice on the PA and watch the latest video on the flight. Then shake your hand disembarking. Not a stalker I promise. These are great videos. Thank you Brendon..
Glad to see an airline capt be humble and enjoy the sunrise and sunsets. It's these small things that really matter, not the car, house, or money . Awesome channel!!!
