2018: Should have gone to RDR2 which even now is considered one of the best games ever made, the same cant be said about God of War 2018 while its still a great game. 2020: Should have gone to Ghosts of Tsushima which is beloved to this day and has found an even greater following with its PC release, the same cannot be said for Last of Us 2.
How is that possible that a game with extremely linear repetitive missions based on dated mechanics and broken systems is one of the best games ever made? Graphics, the world itself and characters were great, but no way that it's more than 8/10 with that gameplay.
@@animo9208 The story is great, the combat can be remarkably deep you can even dive forwards and backwards like Max Payne (even spin your gun and do tricks with it), it has the most realistic horse riding and physics in a game ( the horse even gets salt sweats if you ride it too hard which you can only see under the saddle), Red Dead isnt an immersive sim when it comes to story missions, its a game with a great straightforward story and one of the best protagonists in any game period. But the best part of the game isnt found just following the story its going into the wild and losing yourself for days, even weeks, sitting out in the camp fire under the stars while cooking supper, exploring the wilderness, hunting, fishing, looking for treasure and there's so many secrets to be found like, hunting a vampire or finding the literal devil's house or hunting down a serial killer. The map changes as time goes on, bodies even rot in the most realistic eco system ever made. I could go on and on, even replaying it for the third time I found things that I haven't found before. Its a masterpiece that puts modern games to shame.
Honestly if there was a podium, for 2018 MH hands down was 3rd, its a game that has Honestly just as many "I'll remember the rest of my life" moments as other masterpiece games like Metal Gear Solid,Ghost of Tsushima,RDR2,Demon Souls,Ace Attorney. My first Bazelgeuss encounter is the moment i fell in love with this game
Bro is crazy if he thinks cyberpunk 2077 should have been nominated that wasn’t even finished. GOTY should be about the actual game not its potential. Also the runner up to BG3 for GOTY was not AW2 it was TOTK.
No way is AC Origins or Uncharted better than Persona 5. Like the only downside i see is that some people might not dislike the graphics, other than that persona 5 is miles ahead.
all though by now its comfirmed we are getting a new gears of war game that being placed in E-day so this pretty much makes it being the gears to set up the lucos human war, but im sure gears e-day will be followed by gears 6
Games that i think should have won, in my opinion: 2014: Dark soul's 2 2015: Bloodborne 2016: Doom 2017: breath of the wild 2018: rdr2 2019: Death stranding or RE2 2020: ghost of tsushima or doom eternal 2021: it takes two 2022: god of war: Ragnarök 2023: spider man 2
DS2 lacks a lot of things to win GOTY. Bloodborne is really good, but Witcher 3 is just superior. And finally, I respect your opinion, but cmon. Spider-Man 2 shouldn't have even been even nominated. That game is not even close to BG3.
The current state of heartstone would've won against ds2. This was also way before Fromsoft games got popular and were very niche. And ds 2 was insanely badly reveived back then - still is. No idea how it got a nomination.

And that is artistic excelence, that bloodborne has and witcher not. Its so close to artistic perfection, that its impossible for witcher to compete. Witcher IS definitly a better game in one specific thing and that is everything technical that i dont understand. But man do i not give a fuck about 30fps in bloodborne.

Graphics has always been #1 priority of single player games. Thats one reason why I could never replay fallout2 even though I still consider it best game of all time. The outdated graphics would simply completely ruin the experience.
I showed my 13 year old cousin Black ops 1 and 2 and he said they were a lot better than modern cod games both story wise and gameplay. Games these days just don't do much to grab your attention.
