I know what you mean about Rhaenyra's lack of action this season. After that mother lioness stare she was gave in the season 1 finale, you'd expect bloody vengeance but no....... Her grief on display in S02E01 was good but after that........
Overall a poor season for sure, by the trailer I believed/hoped it would be action packed and better than season 1 but no Season 1 was definitely better. The Season 2 finale did not feel like a season finale episode. 8 episodes was too little.
@@JessieBearBookClub Hopefully but it'll be more about common low born folk so I'll miss the royals. At least this will bridge the gap in a way until HOTD season 3
Hey Jess, have you heard of the recent book by Juno Dawson called Queen B: The Story of Anne Boleyn, Witch Queen? Caught my eye in a bookshop. From a quick look through and further research, it's very bold, and modern with it's themes etc. A fantasy book about the occult and witches with Anne Boleyn as a Coven leader and the lesbian lover of the main character Grace in the book. Sounds a bit out there I know but that seems to be a growing trend fantasy wise what with My Lady Jane for example and the book that was based on etc 🤔 📚 Speaking of My Lady Jane, that was cancelled after one season 😞
The assassin was not Jaquen. He is currently at Oldtown disguised as Pate. The assassin was a Sorrowful Men from Qarth. I assume he was hired by a rival guild in Qarth (perhaps the Tourmaline Brotherhood) to take out the Spicers, who were threatening to become a great force among the merchants and trading in Qarth.
Yes the lack of Otto this season was really felt. As I've already said, we need characters like him. His confrontation scene with Aegon before leaving was so good.
Loved the scene with Daemon and Alys, a long scene but good dialogue. Alys facial expressions and Daemons immaturity etc. Daemon wasted so much time at Harrenhal this season doing very little. A shame but at least it gave us more Alys as she is my Melisandre of HOTD.
I think there is a scene in this book that pretty sums up the problems with feudalism and that is when the French are besieging Aquitaine, in desperation Edmund launches a surprise raid and kills a bunch of French soldiers before retreating back to his fortifications. After Edmund formally surrenders, he is congratulated by the French commanders for his daring actions with the chief French commander Charles de Valois constantly bragging about how Edmund is his nephew. The problem with feudalism is that all the rulers are related they have their wars over stupid and petty things and then act like nothing happened but that doesn't change the fact that people died. In fact, Druon mentions this a few times in the series. This is a sharp contrast to George rr Martin whose feudal system's problem being tribalism whereas Druon sees it as the fact that the nobility are a big squabbling family that dehumanizes everybody beneath them and that marriages between the house solve nothing.

I have thought before thought that the houses in westerose should be more inter married and we should see it down the generations more clearly with the starks and Lannister especially as we know the redwines and Tyrell’s are inter married
