What made this scene so scary is it inspired a real life Drano murder just a couple years later - now (for me) it’s the most horrifying scene in movie history
It is scenes like this one that make the adding of an extra gunshot, during the bank robbing scene at the beginning of "Dirty Harry" such bullshit. Harry has always known how many shots he takes in every engagement. The woke jerk that added it can take a flying leap at a rolling donut (Battleground reference).
The dim lighting, the various camera angles, the music, and, of course, the acting make this scene, in my opinion, one of the best and most ominous in the Dirty Harry movies.
😢Sadly Charles Bronson died in 2003!!& Bruce Willis can,t ACT anymore because he,s diagnosed with mild dementia!! Clint Eastwood is going on 94 years old!!
I liked all 5 Dirty Harry films with Clint Eastwood (Inspector Harry Callahan)& all 5 Death Wish films with Charles Bronson(Paul Kersey) & finally all 5 Die Hard films with Bruce Willis (Det.John McClaine)
I've never quite got this scene because the cop doing the shooting looks nothing like any like the 4 rogue motorcycle cops, Soul, Matheson, Niven or Urich.
I think at this point he had, realised due to the fact that Davis had entered the building and including tbe, same weapon that had been used in shootings. Inexperienced came through clearly from the rookies amd, even Briggs commented on the young age. Its, also strange at the end how Briggs visited but it wasn't clear if Callahan knew but then his partner knew about the boss involved. Its odd the 2 in the, car acting as if the inspector had no idea about Briggs being a, crook. Im over analysing it
They came to arrest a violent dangerous criminal, right?? No SWAT, no bullet proof vests, only 1 squad car?? It surely sounds like they were asking to be killed!!!
Edgar Wright mentioned in the commentary for Shaun Of The Dead (2004) that Phillip's death music sounded similar to the ending theme of this film and I agree, they do sound similar
