The deal is awesome. I know that Joe is just hella salty, but at some point we gotta move past that. We live in this world and have talked about all the problems with their FA period, I think this is pretty much the best possible outcome. If QB costs us 15 in 5 years, well then he's had a HELL of a half decade.
@BAKEJUNTZ 11 million a season is steep considering Doughty was 19th scoring wise in nhl. That's some elite player money he gets paid. He was worth that money 10 years ago, not now. But everyone has the right to their opinion. And yes, I have been watching kings since 1986.
Good draft, bad free agency. Yanettie for GM! Someone who doesn't have 'the old days' syndrome. Too much 'If he can be' and not 'he is'. This acting like a free agent is like a drafted player, that they can develop him or that magical thinking of a change in the enviroment (Kings Org.) will make them better. They are not the Dodgers.
He was awesome before he signed the money 💰 bag contract 😔this was a difficult discussion to listen to but unfortunately it was brutally honest and all I can say is I hope the Kings can prove them wrong but it appears that we are going to be worse than last year if I was a betting man but I never won all my bets either during my betting days😁😲😵💯
I get the Edmundson stuff, but it's important to remember that there were 4 other teams in on him who were top teams. Apparently it was FLA, NYR and NSH, these are pretty good teams with smart people at the top. The dogging of the Kings leadership is just odd to me.
We’ve all been salivating for our youth to get a real shot at playing in NHL full time. There are a lot of “if’s” but if all our youth play real well, this could be a very good team. But if they don’t “kill” it next year, i don’t know where our secondary scoring is gonna come from and could be a bad season.
I am looking forward to seeing our young guys move up. Twp first rounders in Turcotte and Clarke and a 2nd rounder in Thomas. This is what we drafted these guys for.
So goodbye to forwards; Arvidsson, PLD, Lizotte, & Grunstrom. Enter; Jeannot, Foegele. So we got tougher, but we didn’t get real proven goal scorers ? Guess Kings brass are really counting on our youth to provide major secondary scoring.
If top player they want isn’t available maybe trade down Sharks have #33 and #42, Ottawa has #25 and #72, Calgary has #28 and #41, Carolina has #27 and #60…..
Imaginary perspective: PLD is big, picked 3rd overall, has so much potential, he can be a beast! The reality: He's set for life even if bought out and appears to have no reason to try harder.
The trade makes sense for the Caps as well. They had to trade either Lindgren or Kuemper to make room for either Clay Stevenson or Hunter Shepherd ( Two NHL ready goalies in Hershey). Kuemper lost his focus and drive in net when his child was born. Lindgren won the starting position. The Caps also needed to get younger. So they moved out one major underachieving centre (Kuznetsov ), to bring in a bigger, faster underachiever. Kuemper is overpaid but he'll be a better fit on a more defensively structured Kings team. It was key that no sweetener or salary retention was offered, in order for Blake to save some face.
Good take fellas but Blake ( the real cancer) is trying to cover his ass by saying they did not use or put PLD in a good situation WOW Seriously no shame!!! Just for the record PLD was given every opportunity and was played on all 4 lines and still he did not produce! On an interview (Locked on Kings podcast) with Jim Fox who said it the best about PLD "" AT 8.5MILL YOU ARE NOT A PLAYER THAT NEEDS OTHER PLAYERS TO MAKE YOU BETTER AT 8.5MILL YOU BETTER MAKE THE OTHER GUYS AROUND YOU BETTER""

Well everything you said was wrong 1st LA's prospect pool consisted of Kempe, Moverare, Roy, Walker, MacDermit, and Austin Strand, it was infact Blake that built the prospect pool to the envy of the league and by the way the guy you say needs to go is also the guy who built a team that has had the 3 best consecutive seasons in the entire history of the club that's since 1967 Blake isn't the problem toxic fans who think there in Toronto are much more of an issue

Since 2017 under your genius Blake Kings have missed the playoffs four times and made the playoff four times which they have exited in the first round every time Including three in a row to Edmonton and getting worse every year and that’s a fact, here’s another fact our prospect Pool is one of the worst as we speak, and whatever we had before he gave them all away that’s also a fact and here’s your last and current facts Blake signed Cal Peterson $5 million a year for 3years was a bust and traded! He signed coach Todd McLellan to a 3year 5 million a year contract highest in the NHL fired gone but getting paid till 2026! The biggest bust in kings history and the worst contract ever PLD A mind-boggling whopping 8years $8.5 million a year major bust traded, and let’s not forget all the prospects and players he gave away! @@karokaro7328 well again your wrong 1st Blake has been GM for 7 seasons (Lombardi was fired after the 16'-17' season with Blake being hired before the 2017 draft but yes he has had 8 drafts), LA missed the play-offs 3 times (during the rebuild) making them 4 times including the last 3 seasons, while yes the Kings have lost 3 straight to EDM in increasingly less games, I would point out that EDM has gotten better losing to cup Champs VGK and currently playing for the cup the last 2 play-offs as for the prospects and players he's given away he's traded 4 prospects and technicaly only 2 proper prospects those being Helge Grans (who probably won't play in the NHL) and Brock Faber, who along with a 1st brought in Fialla, who has finished 2nd on the team in scoring the last 2 seasons, 70+ points in both trading. Villardi, AI, Kupari, and essentially Durzi for PLD was a crap trade no doubt but if we're being honest none of those players were indispensable Kupari has struggled, AI was redundant same with Durzi losing Villardi sucked and would certainly have helped LA but he's injury prone, and on to the contracts 1st coaching salaries don't matter, as it doesn't count against the cap, and beside McClellan instilled the discipline needed to be a playoff contender, he lost the room not uncommon with coaches, there usually the 1st to go when things turn sour, Cal's contract did not age well at all, won't deny it, though when it was signed there was reason for hope, he had fantastic numbers (in a limited sample size), it didn't work but Blake got out of that mistake without giving up much of anything literally the aforementioned Grans, a 2nd, the undrafted Sean Walker (who by the way didn't have a spot on the LA blueline nor did he have the trade value he had at this past trade deadline) and $2 mil in cap retention on Proverov, as for Dubois that was a debacle, bad trade, bad contract, now he's gone, probably the right move, sucks to lose the assets but as noted earlier all were expendable, Blake was able to move $9 mil in bad cap for 2 2nds and an undrafted player who didn't have a spot that is as good as it gets, but now that we've gotten both of Blake's only 2 mistakes out of the way, let's talk great contracts that he signed and trades he's made like, Mikey Anderson's 8×4, Adrian Kempe at 5.5, Trevor Moore at 4 or Matt Roy's last contract being at 3.1 and how about the absolute home run Muzzin trade or the Cambell trade that by the added Trevor Moore and Alex Laferriere and as mentioned before this team built by Rob Blake has for the 1st time in the 57 year history of the team averaged more than 100pts across 3 consecutive seasons those my friend are FACTS and seriously trying to prove your not a toxic fan by being a toxic fan not very effective

Caps fan here,Kemperer was playing as the caps we’re learning to play with all the new players, he got hurt and lindgren comes in as cap’s start to put it together, I think kemperer had a 45 save game in his last start which he lost , that was typical last year for him , I expect he gets back to 910 save percentage and under 3 ga per game . Caps are just getting younger and faster and have to keep up with metro now New Jersey has goaltending, I think he fits for you guys, PLD is the question mark, we need centers and PLD has To play well and our coach will play our offense through him so at least his numbers will be better, same for ovi the team is designed to get him the puck. I just don’t want another Anthony mantha or kuzy again. I like PLD chances with caps.
Byfield will be a full time Center next season. I’m assuming Fiala will be his primary winger. So you’ve got to decide if Laf fits on that line. Then you have a hole next to Kopi/Kempe. Maybe that gets filled through free agency.
So funny…. Not a knock on Paterno, but he says we need an impact winger. Hmmm how about Gabe Vilardi ??? The irony of how we got to this place is laughable.
I’m glad Blake found a decent solution to getting rid of PLD and his contract. But there is NO excuse for how this played out. Essentially Vilardi, Kupari, Iafallo, Durzi and 8.5 M paid to PLD for one season FOR Kemper ! That’s it… That’s what it comes down to. The whole thing just shows that Blake swung huge for the fences and it was a big gamble that he whiffed on ! Any other organization would have fired him at the end of this season. There is zero reason this guy should have a job anymore. There is no defense for how piss poor both Luc and Blake have managed our assets ! Pitiful !! and they both should have been fired long ago !!! Owners of the Kings are totally spineless !!

Yeah cuz he just had to sell Capitals GM that the Kings “just didn’t use PLD right.” There is no excuse for not finding a way to use a 8.5M dollar player for an entire season. Bad coaching and Bad management !
There is no better PLD. He has shown his lackluster play with 3 teams already. He is the problem. This nonsense of him playing with better players is asinine. 8.5 million. You better be playing your ass off no matter who your line mates are.
This is on a pld. Just Because he plays on the 4th line, that he should be doing great player things on that line, no excuses. Best deal blake has made sense Kevin f deal. I think the kings will draft sahasa Dorne. He is a center a real great player to get. 🧙♂️
So happy for Caps. Caps mindset...last year, we were dealing with $7.8 with Kuzy getting $3.8 value. Needing a 1C, and $5.25 on a goalie whose career is over, since the birth of his child, for 3 more years. The experiment woked with Strome, and no reason it cannot work with Dubois. Caps are in such a need for youth, but experienced talented players. Caps have a strong locker room, and great motivational coach. Dubois will get more minutes, and gets to play alongside the greatest goal scorer of all time. Conclusion, Caps were gifted Strome and Dubois in thier Prime. (2) #3 picks overall of their respective drafts. The under achiever Kuzy era is over. Kuzy was about a 15 Goal, 40 Assist guy. Stome is probably a 20+ goal and around 40 Assist 2nd line C. Dubois career has primarily been a 25+ goal, around 40 Assist guy. He will get 1st line C role and no reason he can go back to his pre LA #s. I like it for Caps.

i didn't think Blake had the guts to make this kind of move. Next move should be to buyout Kuemper and use that extra cap space on a puck moving D-man.
Straight up the worst asset management I've ever seen watching the NHL. Rob Blake turned 11th overall pick Gabe Vilardi, 1st rounder Rasmus Kupari, middle 6 forward Alex Iafallo and top four defenseman Sean Durzi into 34 year old Darcy Kuemper. Killer
I wouldn't mind if the Kings traded back in the draft if the Kings can't land Solberg or Connelly (or if one of the other top players doesn't fall down to their pick). Their Scouting staff seems to do well with second and 3rd round picks. The Sharks have picks #33 and #42 so they might be good trading partners......or maybe Carolina with picks #27 and #60....... or Ottawa with picks 25 and 72.
As a ducks and kings fan, Newell Brown is a terrible hire. Ducks fan hated him bc all he did was dropped passes on the PP and same shit over and over. Uses a merit system for PP time so you’ll get a lot of PP2 (geezers) starting the PP while the stud kids get the last 30secs. Ducks was towards the bottom in PP % and contract was not renewed. We hated how he ran the PP.
Joe as a fellow California residence i can say in the 90s- mid 2000s metal and rock was huge but as of now everyone now is listening to pop and hip hop.
