Since its formation 37 years ago, the award-winning Lonesome River Band continues its reputation as one of the most respected names in Bluegrass music. Whether performing on the famous stage of the Grand Ole Opry or headlining major concert events & festivals, their loyal fans continue to support one of the most loved and most influential acts of our time.
Lonesome River Band’s vocal and instrumental talents seamlessly come together as they perform their trademark sound that fans continue to embrace. The outstanding lead vocals and harmony by acclaimed singer-songwriter Brandon Rickman (guitar) and the 2017 IBMA Momentum Award Vocalist of the Year Jesse Smathers (mandolin) are pure magic and put over the top by the exceptional instrumentals of fiddle extraordinaire Mike Hartgrove, top-tier bassist Barry Reed; and five-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year and Virginia Country Music Hall of Famer Sammy Shelor.
One of the best bluegrass recording acts ever. Listened to Mayhayley’s House for a solid year when it came out. New LRB material is always worth a listen.
I've been to several of their shows and I absolutely love their music. Sammy sheler signed by banjo and actually played it. Lonesome river band is my favorite bluegrass band.
Sounds Great Gentleman.Heard Ya'll for the first time last Fall in Lewisville,N.C.I've always liked some Blue grass but that's the most and best that I've ever heard by One Band. Most Blue grass bands can play really good but singing is another talent.Ya'll not only played great music but I was really impressed by how good Ya'll harmonized on Every Song.Hope You come back to Lewisville next Summer.👍👍👍
This is one of the best banjo players on the planet , anyone who says anything negative referring to Sammy is absolutely out of touch with the bluegrass industry!
They're tight enough that they definitely don't NEED the drummer. But I don't mind them having him, and I'm not huffy enough to think it's sacrilegious. It gives them the versatility to mix other elements into their sound. At least I hope that's what's goin' on, because it would be HELLA boring for the drummer if his job was just doing this for like an hour straight.
Ok I have to put this out there. I have been listening to blue grass and obviously Merle my entire life. Lol BUT I have found songs of yall and Chris Stapleton singing and yall are amazing! I was named after that song but music speaks! Keep on keepin on! I hope I get to see yall one day!
clearly u have no idea who Sammy is. he's the best banjo player and one of the most talented and respected musicians there are. I think he can cover tuning his 5 string show some respect you doosh bag
They are having a Blast!! Its called improvisation before going in to a tune.. They can do this because they are very skilled musicians and want to explore the unknown. For some people the unknown is to unfamiliar and they need the same old structure like a robot does. I love this Band and I am proud of where they are now.. Singing there hearts out or Jammin for 10 min!!! Bring it all boys!! Been a fan since 1992!! Every line up <3
I'll be totally honest - I didn't like this version the first time I heard it live. But since then I've realized that this tune, Money In The Bank, Hobo Blues, et al are re-workings of songs that were great in the original versions but had potential to be something more - a jam tune! Not every song works for that but kudos to Sammy and crew for groovin' it on the ones that do!
