Most of the people on the show were equally lacking self awareness. When Tony was facing jail time for murdering the kid who shot Chris, he genuinely asks, what did I ever do to deserve this? They're always saying things that suggest they consider themselves, nice decent, and moral people.

Poor Dominic, turns his life around and tries to help others who were in his position and Paulie just says that. LOL. Paulie never had anything nice to say about anyone.
Also, when Dominic helped with the actual intervention for Christopher, what should have been a helpful, rewarding, and loving thing turned into a complete mess and resulted in a fist fight lol
the guy was a thief, drug addict or not. he didnt deserve any slack, like the folks who's house he broke into didnt deserve to get their things stolen.
