Dustin Hoffman is brilliant (as ever) in this movie. His character, Baldini, is a tragicomic figure, but is the only one who treats Grenouille with any humanity.
I know this is late but I really loved how the score and dialouge come together in this scene. I've always been curious, if Baldini had explained what a legend was, would Grenouille still have pursued the last scent? 🧐

It's a novel. By definition, it takes real elements and mixes them with fiction (aka FAKE stuff). Otherwise, it would not be a novel, but a boring documentary.
