Beautiful! I wish you would have given dimensions for measuring this project out. Very interesting using your custom hand made brake. I love that idea. Thank you for making this video for all of us.
Well done with nice clean bends. And since you asked, yes I do think some small brass rivets would add structural integrity and a bit more curb appeal to this lovely little eye catcher. Maybe some brass feet in the form of some suitably sized brass beads. Those were just some thoughts. I hope you don’t find me too forward.
Thanks for sharing this with us Rick. You have a voice, why not use it to convey a little bit more knowledge in the same time frame, even a voice over. Totally ment as constructive Rick, Cheers, Billy in Canada
Just thought of a product idea .... how about a copper recessed toilet paper holder , has to be inset into the wall, crisp square corner & straight lines , it also has to transition seamlessly into the drywall. Not a large item, you could ship that easily ! If you had a line of different bathroom products, I bet you would be very busy filling orders. It's no big investment, make one see if people like it, then make more based on the action you get.
Beautiful work sir ! Ironically I was searching how to achieve a nice crisp square corner in copper, as I'm building a garage door that's going on a very expensive super modern home. I keep coming back full circle to all the small crafts people, still practising their trade that's thousands of years old, most people thought black smiths became obsolete, heck no it's a higher art form, super high in demand, architects are artists too they go nuts for well designed, precision fit, all hand crafted. What the architects look for is flush, so a lightswitch cover for example has to be flush with the wall, other than that, use your imagination. Modern architecture is minimalist, that means flat planes with crisp square corners and straight lines. If you the craftsman can come up ideas for products that work within those parameters, you could build yourself quite the nice online business. Thank you very much for this tip, greatest time ever to start up a home business, highly recommend it!
I like your technique to fold in the edges so you don't have a seam to weld or solder together. Do you have any issues with things coming loose or trying glue?
this is awesome. i bought a sheet of copper and brass today and will attempt to use your technique to make my own brownie cake pan. thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! your work is beautiful.
Beautiful work! The video is wonderful too, with nice music (instead of that annoying cacaphony some are using now) to accompany your process! Precision and patience are signs of a true craftsman. Thanks for sharing!
As well as the second sheet size dimensions! I’m going to make one! Looking forward to buying something from you as a thank you for this video once I’ve completed one
Thank you . I remember back in the mid to late 60’s watching my grandfather do metal work , woodwork , upholstery , and do it all by hand with minimal hand tools . You brought back some great memories . Thanks dude , I needed that . .
I would have liked to see how you made the server. Im an amateur blacksmith and two of my friends have tasked me with doing the same thing for their wedding in october, only with mild steel instead of copper.
I dont have a video of that. I start with a bar 2.5" x 0.25". I flatten and spread the server side and narrow and stretch the handle. Let me know if you have specific questions.
