I made my press big enough to comfortably fit 8.5''x11" paper but I can't remember the exact measurements that I used! I agree, I considered other presses too pricey and too small so I made my own and it was much simpler than I thought! Best of luck!
I've had great results with pressing roses! Just keep the pieces you're pressing as thin as possible! With white roses I find that they brown after a while but I think they're still beautiful!
I got my first boquet of flowers from a guy, unfortunately it was during a hugely busy week and they are mostly dead now, but hopefully i can preserve whats left of them so thank you!
Thanks for the question! You won't want to leave it in the fridge for too long since you're more likely to have better outcomes pressing fresh flowers. Just keep an eye out for it!
I no! I know it can be discouraging to find flowers brown, it happens to me as well! It could've been those petals were older, they had more moisture than others, the placement in the press, etc. It will take some trial and error to get it right but sometimes it's just the flower! You can start with my two FAQ videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XITiEK1ZDTU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4C6miGjIxA0.html The beauty is in the process! Best of luck!
Thanks for the question! It usually takes weeks (3-8 weeks) in a press or book for flowers to dry completely. Don't be afraid to check on your flowers often, since that's the only way you'll know. Once the whole flower feels like paper, it's ready!
Don't dox complete BUT Nor-cal or So-cal? because they are completely different lifestyles & whichever one you're in, don't forget to visit the other. Welcome to the best coast! Hope you're enjoy your stay.
You can use blackberries as well to dye things. Living here in southeast Kentucky some of the old timer hillbillies around here would tell stories of not only using old coffee or tea to dye things but strawberries and blackberries ❤
Thanks for the question! Hydrangea and larkspur are my favorites to press and I consider them very beginner friendly as well. Here are some videos I made about best flowers to press as a beginner: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K_T7PrexwD0.html And which flowers to avoid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4C6miGjIxA0.html
Thank you for the kind words! In order to press flowers they need to be pressed fresh. If flowers are dried they will be crushed in the flower press. I hope this helps!
@@sundaysunshine no I didn't mean it that way The video is great but there should something to indicate that it's not "scientific" for lack of a better word with my poor English
Your pressed peony is beautiful honey. They look natural and beautiful and I think you should be proud. Even if they brown a bit. Perfection is boring and would look fake. I hope mine come out as pretty. Thank you for your help!!
So sorry about that! I've updated the link, you can download it here: www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/wewbcb70wop25oj70drcw/The-pressed-flower-guide.pdf?rlkey=qb5htzg0lwefy9e7w9g2971i4&st=b8tzm4c9&dl=0
Thanks for the question!! You can use books to press flowers as well, I share about that process in this video! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sAO-2tx6S0w.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks for the question!! When pressing any type of flower, the flowers need to go into the press fresh. Dried flowers are too fragile and might break under the pressure of the pressing process. I hope this helps!
Hey I have been watching your videos from a while and i must say your voice, backdrop and work is so mesmerizing. I have pressed several flowers by watching your videos delphinium, rose, phlox, lily and much more....but i always seem toh have a hard time with daisy, aster, sunflower from Asteraceae. Can you cover this topic in your vid and ty for amazing content 💖💕
Thanks so much for the kind words!! For now I don't have plans to make any more tutorial based videos on pressed flowers, but I'll definitely keep it in mind if things change!!
I keep my pressed flowers in between sheets of paper in a binder or in air tight containers with silica beads to absorb any extra moisture. It's important to keep your flowers away from moisture and humidity to prevent it from molding. I have a video on how I store my pressed flowers,I hope this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uK_GxrQSarE.htmlfeature=shared
When I was living in Vietnam, the humid weather makes it hard to dry flowers and they often ended up molded. But in the UK it only takes me 2 days for my flowers to dry. Gonna make a bunch to keep as memories
If the flowers are pressed successfully there is no mold or unpleasant smell! Naturally pressed flowers will continue to change color, but nothing alarming!
Giirrrll, giving yourself grace is the biggest thing you can do with this. With ANYTHING! I love your content regardless. You make beautiful pieces no matter what!! You've helped me understand that it's okay to take time to find your style. 💛 Things change and people grow, so do interests! I look forward to seeing what you do next!
Thank you so so much for the kind words and encouragement!! I've been away from RU-vid and it's comforting to know that even with my experimental content the message is still resonating!!
I find that cutting the stem or stalk in half helps alot! I also encourage you to take the flower apart and press thick parts of the flowers on the same layer in the press! You can learn the basics here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XITiEK1ZDTU.htmlfeature=shared
