Brendle is a pianist's pianist. He has mastered the technique of bringing out the layers in Rachmaninoff's piano music. The result is crystal clear melodic lines and impeccable phrasing. I have heard other better-known pianistic superstars who cannot match Brendle's clarity of interpretaton. He brings into focus the other-worldly vision of this masterpiece. Brendle's playing is intently focused on the music, without the distracting mannerisms of so many of today's virtuosos. Thank you, Adrian Brendle, for helping this listener to hear this great music in a whole new light. Bravo!
Interesting - I've been learning this for a few months and I've found the piece to fit unusually well under my fingers. The tempo in the video is still a bit mind-blowing though
I certain find this piece very uncompelling and confused,, but your tempo did a good job of sorting out some of its mess for me :) I wonder if there's a recording of Sergei playing this; that would be instructive. Or ruinous.
It took me a great many listens, but at some point this prelude coalesced to my ears from something chaotic into something shimmering and radiantly beautiful. Now one of my favorite Rach preludes.
Wonderful performance. Your album of op 32 preludes really helped me hear their beauty. I had long favored op 23 but your renditions make me reconsider.
Simply great, Adrian. Maybe a little bit underestimate piece written by Rachmaninoff or maybe only less played, but all pieces op.32 belong to the best of Rachmaninoff!
Thank you very much, Adrian. Your interpretation of this Rachmaninoff masterpiece is absolutely beautiful. You play this piece with great understanding. Thanks for sharing! Simply wonderful.
This is one of the most beautiful Rachmaninoff preludes! Magnificent performance! It's not an easy piece to learn because of the five notes in de left hand and triplets in the right hand.
Without a doubt the best pianist in the world. No one plays with the richness of detail and subtlety you put on the piano keys. Magnificent! Refined technique and Unbelievable interpretation. Congratulations
For me Nos. 4, 10, and 13 are the real standouts from this set, although they are all amazing because c'mon it's Rachmaninov. Really excellent performance!
