Welcome to Tin Bear Studios. This is a channel where I share my newfound love of wargaming with table top gamers, hobbyists and painters.
I'm sharing my experiences in this hobby going from a complete amateur through to an experienced gamer and painter, documenting my journey the whole way.
I don't think telling people "just do this. Then do this. Then this' is gonna make them want to play. It takes all the creativity and personality out of the equation. Also we don't need even more space marine players
I’m doing snow bases for my Votann. Snow is supposed to look flat! Stepping out of your house into a fresh snowfall, finding footprints and tracks in the crust as you walk around is the best part about snow! I’ve been having trouble making tracks behind my subjects though
My first and only tournament in 2012 was a disaster and has put me off for life. First up my brother misread the rules and so we thought it was 600pts of just 1HQ and 2 Troops choices. Obviously we were allowed to add to that. Secondly, I had to build and paint both armies. Not a big deal, but stressful and to find out we coulda had different models was annoying. We lost first 2 games badly. The third opponent was allowed to solo the duo games with a 1200pt army against our two 600pts. And he also knew the people running it so was allowed a non WYSIWYG army that was only half built and less painted. And this was at Warhammer World. I aint ever going back. I still collect and paint but have never had a game since, totally ruined it for me.
Easy tip for new players. Combat patrol boxes are roughly 130 euro each but if you get the starter set and top them of with the 2 missing units you pay about 155 for 2 combat patrols (sure its just tyranids and space marines but its still a budget option to try.)
I thought it was ok and a better than the last few. The start felt pretty tense but you loose a lot of tension throughout as the sith went from killing Jedi left and right than stops and does it far more slowly
When I close my citadel paints my gold one leaked yellow not even gold from the back and sides it was very sticky haha and my citadel wash spilled a bit.
Nah best starter chapter is Salamanders. Salamanders are always the answer to all questions about what army to build, at all levels. Oh you have a Salamanders army? Build another one.
Not good advice for a new player. Pick the army who looks the coolest, has the coolest lore, and know what type of army is it (elite, hoard, etc) Don’t just start with Ultramarines cause there the best for beginners, chose the army you want and LEARN IT. You can do ultramarines if you want btw.
I’m trying to get hobbies into my life due to stress, I started things like swimming etc, and looking to get into warhammer I was always fascinated by it but thought it was too complicated, this video really helped show that anyone can start with basic items! Thank you
Cant agree with the video as i simply would get bored building and painting the starter armies like space marines and necrons. I would quit instantly. So best is i think to really choose the army you like and start building those by either buying a normal soldier set of that army + paint and tools kit or a combat patrol/spearhead box with paint+tools. Your recommemdation is just ok for someone who really starts from zero and will have the 2 armies to get painting experience and throw the models away before taking the army he really likes but after all, why not get the painting experience instantly on the army you love.
I just searched warhammer 40k cus I liked that it seemed multifaceted and I like video game with deep lore, kinda freaking me out that it seems there is a hygiene problems in the community through these comments though.
