I have been following the Black Girls Do Bike Insta account for months now. As a cyclist for over 40 years that has always seen our sport as too white, I find this very inspiring! Never realized there is a New Haven chapter (I see you Sleeping Giant and Farmington Canal Trail).
I rode a large cycling event in DE yesterday (~2,200 riders). I noticed a few “Black Girls Do Bike” jerseys and those girls were rolling fast! As a fairly new rider I’ve been pleased to see so many people of color out on the roads and trails. So far I’ve seen nothing but friendly faces and camaraderie and I hope that is representative of the cycling community as a whole. It was surely my pleasure to ride with several fast and competent black women yesterday.
