I'm Monica, a Dutch girl who moved to the Portuguese island of Madeira in January 2018. Can't believe I am here already more than 5 years! Time flies when you're enjoying life.
My goal with my RU-vid channel is to connect you with the island and show you the beauty of it, hopefully inspiring you to come here and make your own unforgettable memories.
Hey this is nice, you should do more long form videos about Madeira with you narrating, like I remember you did the two for the digital nomad project..... If you ever felt like doing longer ones then id encourage you..... you have a prescence and a soothing voice that I think would work very well for travel type videos in somewhere like Madeira.... so much so that I remember that from however long ago you posted those videos (maybe a year or two? lol), and it was pretty deep content too... so, as a fan ( ;) ) I encourage you to keep making (and make longer) these videos of my beloved island :)
Hi Hadley, thank you so much for your kind words. I only read your comment now as I have not been very active on RU-vid, but I sincerely appreciate your words of encouragement. They mean a lot! Sincerely. It is my plan to make longer videos about Madeira and the content is already there, it is just I haven’t prioritised it yet to do it, but your comment has definitely sparked my motivation ;) Thank you so much!
Good evening! It really depends on what you are looking for. Feel free to connect with me on instagram: @themadeiratravelista and tell me a bit more about your budget etc
The Castelo Branco area in Portugal is full of brits, but internet is not so good. I selected to relocate to Coimbra just because of speeds of 90 Mbps, & 40/50 are normal. I´m considering Ponta do Sol, & measure internet speeds with Ookla. Please tell me: how is the internet speed there? Greetings from Coimbra-Calhabé 🙂
As a madeiran living abroad I love to watch these videos where I get to see my homeland through the eyes of foreigners. I am always so proud of my heritage and I visit Madeira in June/July 2021
Hey Maria, that is amazing to hear! I am happy that you have enjoyed watching this video and thank you very much for leaving such a kind reply! Tudo de bom! :)
Hi Shawna, thank you for your query. There are definitely accommodations that do allow pets. It is always best to contact and ask the landlord/host before booking. I know a girl in the Digital Nomad Community, for example, who also travels with her dog - which kinda became a mascotte in the outdoor coworking area - so no problem :) I hope this answers your question, but if you'd like more information, or like to sign up (for free) to Digital Nomads Madeira; I advice to have a look on their website, which can be found in the description below this video and ofcourse I'd be more than happy to help too :)
Thank you for making such an insightful and candid film. We visit the island as often as we can and it’s of real interest to hear about the digital nomad community. Thanks for taking the time. It would be great to pop by some time and find out more. All the best to you all.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a nice comment! I truly appreciate it and am happy that you enjoyed watching the video. Always feel welcome to pop by when on the island. Take care and all the best :)
@@themadeiratravelista morning Monica, we’d love to pop by sometime. Do we need to arrange that or just turn up? We are here for another 3 weeks, so no hurry but it would be lovely to meet you. We’re also beginning to interview inspiring people on the island for our channel and wonder if you’d possibly be interested in that. No problem if not of course just popping by informally is fine by us too.
@@LivingWalks good morning! Thank you for your kind message :) the co working space in Ponta do Sol is open to visitors, so feel free to stop by. I'd love to meet! It would be easier if you message me directly on IG (@monica.sharonn) to arrange a day, as I will be able to answer quicker :) have a beautiful day!
Hi Anna, thank you for your comment on my video, I appreciate that. Say hi on social media if you'd like to connect and learn more about Madeira before moving here. I'd be more than happy to help you with any questions you may have :) instagram.com/monica.sharonn
Very nice video, thanks ! May I ask to people who've been there which budget one should plan to go there for a month? (price of activities mentioned in the video, usual price for restaurant, rent a car...)
Very nice video about respect and sharing. With such attitude you add value to any place and add to its preservation. Congrats. Best regards to you and to all who think and act like you.
Thank you for making this video to inspire our beautiful island #Madeira ... and to show that Madeira is not just for oldies. We will promote it on our social channels like Twitter #MadeiraVideos. Obrigado.
What a great and informative video, thank you for uploading Monica. I've watched a couple of interviews with Gonçalo, however it's also interesting to get a perspective from the nomads themselves, which by all accounts is extremely positive. Subbed!
Hi Miserere, thank you very much for your comment & sub :) I appreciate that and I am happy to hear you have found the video informative! 2nd video is on its way :D
I had been debating taking the chance and doing this and I have to admit, I think this video really pushed me to make it official. I really resonated with the woman who said she pushes herself out of her comfort zone to be amongst people she doesn't know and it always works out. I think I'll be doing this in the Fall!
Amazing! Happy you resonated with her and that this video helps you in making this decision for yourself! I hope it will bring you many beautiful things :)
This is super informative! Love the story and to learn from different nomads how they experience Madeira! Makes me wanna go there! Great job on the editing! Nailed your first video!💯👏🏻
