Welcome to 701 Adventures, a channel aimed at motorcyclists. Here you'll find a mixture of off road riding, green laning and bike tours. If this sounds like something you might be interested in then why not consider subscribing?
I was trying to follow the route on my chart ... but, couldn't make head-nor-tail of it until Bank Foot Farm. I know it would be extra work for you, but do you think you might identify a few key points on the trail? A map reference or the name of a feature would be a great help.
I’ll try and help if I can. Which end did you start from, did you ride the trail and then drop down the hill passing through the two gates towards the farm or did you start from the farm looking for the two gates to go up the hill and then ride the trail?
@@rcfokker1630 Ah, I see. I can send you the GPX file if you have OS Maps on your phone or some other device, or alternatively you can follow a GPX file on a Garmin device if you transfer it via Basecamp. Send me an email to 701adventure@gmail.com and we’ll work something out. 👍
@@701Adventures Thanks, but it's OK I think. I wasn't sure whether you had ridden straight ahead at Bloworth Crossing, or had veered to the left. But, I think that you must have gone straight ahead. I might have a go at this ride tomorrow. I don't have an off-road machine, but I do have a cheapo 125 that oughta do the job. And, if not, I can always turn back. It would be the first time that I have ever made a significant ride on an un-metalled road. Hoping that it will be reasonably dry by then, with no massive puddles.
@@rcfokker1630 To be honest you could do the route on any bike. Just be careful with the puddles as you can never tell how deep they are until you’re in them!😂
Not standing up caused you a lot of problems you could have avoided mate, your handling of the bike is massively improved when you stand on pegs with the correct body position. Enjoyed the video as always 😁
Lee, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I completely agree regarding me not standing up but I felt really rusty not having been out on a bike for many weeks and I think that knocked my confidence a lot. It was still great fun though. 👍
@701Adventures that's totally understandable pal and I hope I didn't come across as patronising. Personally you can't stress enough about making sure your body position is good and keeping momentum when doing some harder off-roading. A couple more days out like that and you'll be up to scratch in no time 😁 it was great fun to watch you mate, so I can only imagine the fun you had actually doing it!
John, I had intended to do the Clubman route but to be honest I was knackered simply doing the Easy route as I hadn’t been out on the bike for weeks. However I’ve just got a new rear tyre and a Mousse and once that’s fitted I’ll be returning for another go.
No harm done and I thoroughly enjoyed the day and that’s what counts. It was hard work though as I hadn’t been out on the bike for some time. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 👍👍
Ha,ha, yes if I’d remembered the hot chocolate fall off deal I would have filmed the other laps because I fell off on each lap. Thanks for watching and thanks for the hot choccy’s. 👍👍

Right foot stop allows you to easily select neutral for a long ATS light sequence, or once you are happy with the situation behind you. Obviously “not suitable for test” in the UK. Try it, you might like it.
I lived in Littledean until National Service claimed me in the early sixties. The 'George Hotel' (now the Belfry?) used to be a great pub which attracted many of the locals. The other very sociable pub was the Kings Head, opposite the entry to Silver Street. Maybe one day I'll return and check out Littledean.
@@MikeWellington-x9y Wow this video is a blast from the past. Seven years ago since I visited The Belfry. It’s a great pub and a fantastic location, I love the Cotswolds. I don’t know much about the history of the area, maybe you should return and revisit your youth. 👍
I first rode Hardknott in 1977 on a Yamaha FS1E. My mate was on a Honda SS50 with an undersize rear sprocket and we had to push him up the steepest bits. I did it again on my Ducati Scrambler 1100 two weeks ago and I'd forgotten how challenging it is in parts. It was a Sunday so it was also a lot busier. Higher potential for embarrassment but also help, if needed. Got through unscathed and, if I'm honest, quite pleased with myself. Great video. Thanks for letting me relive my journeys.
Good for you, what did you buy? There are a few sections of this that you might struggle on but just take your time and build your confidence as you go. 👍👍
@@gnarlybadger690 No difference at all but if I can get a good price for this one I’ll put it towards a newer one, simple as that really. I had one interested buyer who panicked when I told him it had done 11500 miles, he said that’s way too many miles which is a stupid attitude to take. Some people travel the world on bikes like this because they are so easy to fix if needed. 👍
@@701Adventures I just wondered if there was any difference and I'd missed an update. My 2020 690 has 16,500 trouble free miles on it, mostly TET both here and Europe. I think yours is a cracking buy at the price your asking, good luck with the sale
Yeah Steve. Your back. I was going to message you yesterday 21/8/24. As not heard or seen you for a week or two.. But I thought no… I’ll not impose on you. You’re sounding well mate.. great to see you out and about… 👍👍
@@greengoblindave Thanks, this is an old video from early last year I dug out of the archives as I’ve been too busy recently to find time to get out on the bike. How’s things with you?
@@701Adventures ah. Okay well good video 👍 Good you been busy. Things with me pretty much the same. Just working. My backs a bit sore at the moment. Misses got me sorting out back room this weekend 😂… got the Harley and had a ride in that one day.. And back in work 😏
@@701Adventures nah only working. Yes I’m happy with the HD. I’m just waiting for a heal shifter to arrive to help with the foot drop. Other than that it looks great sounds great and rides great 👍👍👍 Have you had any luck with your bike mate ?
It's definitely not just live stock, by the traffic lights there, there's a sign and some of the dry stone wall is down, i pulled that down after being first on scene to a bike accident, the air paramedics couldn't get the stretcher over the wall... Bikes get bikes in trouble sometimes.
Yes they certainly do, how was the person you assisted? I once came across a horse rider on this stretch of road who had been thrown from her horse after a car passed her too closely and spooked her horse. I just saw some flapping hi viz in the dip to the nearside, below the level of the road. I stopped the car and much to my surprise there was a lady who had been there some time and who couldn't move. No phone signal so managed to get some assistance from a local farmhouse whilst my wife comforted the lady, they suspected they knew who the woman was so rang her boyfriend who then turned up with his father. The ambulance was incredibly quick at getting there considering how isolated the location is, thankfully she made a full recovery. 👍
I’m not sure why but RU-vid has deleted a few of my responses to the comments which have been left. Perhaps it’s due to the subject matter, I don’t know?
Once got butted by a sheep whilst in Isle of Man. Slowed down to slowly pass sheep and a lamb, and one little bugger was hiding behind a bush and pounced when I was in striking distance..
@@ConciergeMed Hi, no I didn’t have any towing issues, there are pro’s & cons to each option. The van obviously offers more security and discretion for the bike when parked up at Services etc but obviously the trailer is a much cheaper alternative. But no I never had any issues while towing the bike at all and the Motolug trailer served me while I owned it. 👍
A short video but most enjoyable...sheep are a constant potential problem especially on that stretch of road, if their heads are down and they are eating them chances are they will stay put, if not then take care ! That is a stretch of road I know all too well and it was great to re-visit it..

I’ve done it a few times, it’s worth the effort travelling there and then once you’re there spend a couple of hours there riding it in each direction. 👍
@@701Adventures Yes i did it both ways a few times as i was playing around recording at the time for my channel it was great fun and on a week day so very few cars
@@cgln8760 The footage was fine because of the image stabilisation, however I was only temporarily trying out that camera position but I’ve since moved it to the front fender to give a more dramatic, wider view.
I was at an event where Helge Pederson gave a talk/slideshow about his RTW. He was selling a coffee table book on his travels at the time. I, now, still only partially understand Marshall Macluhan's "The medium is the message" . With action cameras today, anyone should be able to grasp the adversities.
I did that route today it’s a great trail. I did go through the water crossing but nearly come a cropper😳. I’m on a Voge 300 rally and like you I’m running the Michelin trackers. Great videos keep it up mate 👍
@@markchallenger8512 How deep would you estimate the water was, it looked quite deep, even near where I dipped my toes in. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it. 👍
@@701Adventures my front wheel was totally under water so it got to be getting on a couple of feet deep. There’s big rocks in there too and rode straight into one and I just managed to catch before it went over. Two wet feet but the bike was saved😀
It’s really a shame that Noraly couldn’t have been there maybe next year I’m really disappointed that no one mentioned ItchyBoots she did everything that these folks did completely alone and posting videos 2 or 3 times a week no one else comes close!
@@knuckles-3386 I absolutely agree with you. To be honest I was a bit disappointed in some respects in the presentations. It would be great if Itchy Boots did visit again, fingers crossed for 2025. 👍👍
Love the video and want to do the TET at some point I have a garmin XT the maps load but if I try and open the maps the garmin says it can’t Read the route Any help would be greatly appreciated
@@stephenclarke9419 I’ve been thinking about this today and I believe that when I imported the TET GPX files onto my Zumo XT I did it via Basecamp. Have you tried that? If not save the GPX file on your desktop or similar, open up Basecamp and then import the file into Basecamp. Then after connecting your XT to the computer export the GPX file to it, either as a track or route, depending on your preference and that should be it. On an Android device, (such as my Samsung Galaxy Tablet) with OS Maps or OSMAnd installed it’s a much simpler process, you can simply open the GPX file directly from the Tablet into whichever mapping software you prefer. I hope that helps a bit but if not have a look at some Facebook groups and they may be able to explain it better than I have attempted. Good luck. 👍
