Nice comparison, I had been wondering about this because I was reminded of ME when playing DL2, esp the vault-jump. I think it's interesting how DL2 comes off as more grounded at first, and then you can kinda explain away the oddities as Aiden being superhuman. Mirrors Edge kind of embraces its arcadey origins, yet has a more "realistic" wall run, lol. I'm glad techland took inspiration from ME, they're the only games that turned parkour into genuine plstforming rather than pressing forward. I hope more devs can see how ahead of the curve Catalyst was with movement.
Nah I love and miss this game I’ve been thinking about it since I beat and I am DESPERATELY anticipating the soundtrack release I need it 😵💫 *NOW* 😵💫
Oh no totally agree. I apologize if it came across that way in my analysis. The comparisons I made were from a mindset before the games launch, me not taking it seriously. I like to believe I judged the game based on what it did and wanted more from it and its ideas presented.
All right, the honeymoon is over. Habituation sets in. Regular marriage has arrived. It's time for divorce to meet the next girl, I mean game, where everything will be better than this, right?
I actually became obsessed with the game and didnt stop til i hit plat and i absolutely love the voice acting for a vast majority. I found the story intriguing especially towards the end immediately wanting to know more. I found myself excited to find another data stick to discover more lore.
Totally valid, I think for me the story was very predictable especially if you played other games similar to this such as nier. The end definitely is where the game shines but even then stumbles a bit.
@berice4390 well it certainly did a number on me. It sounds odd to say but I hold a special place in my heart for raven even tho she did go coo-coo bananas. I also actually appreciated the open world zones. Especially because i didn't feel like I had a checklist to do like rebirth(as much as I love the game) I dunno I've really been feeling what south Korea has been putting out lately even if it isn't as polished as western games.
For me I can’t say every single way. Like I mentioned the open world sections being boring and other things hold it back for me. But I’m glad it does something for you.
@@berice4390 yeah the only area I find a bit boring in the great desert, but then it is a great desert lol. Im nearly done with my 3rd play through to 100% platinum. Wouldn’t mind a 4th in just skin suit on hard mode as wouldn’t need to collect anything either.
I touched on it in my video but this game is from a Korean studio. The English VA’s are not the first pick. They can’t fit Korean sentences into English sentences so there’s some dialogue that feels awkward and that’s a product of that.
@@JoseCarrilloOrtega How do you know I'm not "Good" (gud? Learn how to spell). How do you know I'm not an animator and a 3D artist that has been playing games since '89 (before you were born) and i recognize a trash game when I play it.
It's good. 8 out of 10. Could use a better story. The lore is there, it just wasn't written well into the story. Could have better biomes. Two massive desert/wasteland areas just became boring. I wish xion felt more alive, it felt empty and dull even though their are people walking around. The combat and music is really where this game shines. The costumes are great too, but the censorship really ticked me off. Both sony and the devs are to blame for the censorship. Overall, it's worth checking out.
The game is great a solid game 8/10. For me the only thing it needs to be a masterpiece is longevity and depth. It’s not a short game but it could be a little longer with three open world maps to explore rather than just two. Also there are tons of places across both maps where there could be elaborate dungeons with some puzzles and rare variants of bosses at the end, similar to how Elden rings map works. All of this could be addressed in an expansion which I think would really benefit the game. Then comes the depth part, writing is solid but can have weak points in character emotional development which they could have explained with slightly better writing. For me it makes sense that eve is a little emotionally void because she was born and raised to kill and die. they could have explored that aspect and had her start to understand what being human really means while building emotional relationships with her friends and community. Which she does do just could have been written better. This is something they will need to do in a sequel but it can be done and the lore has some great potential to be built upon and with some good writers its narrative could really become something special. But just overall it’s a 8/10 game would absolutely recommend it, playing it you can definitely see the potential it had to be a masterpiece and hopefully if a sequel is explored they can build on the weak points of the game which aren’t many.
8/10 it ain’t perfect but it is a solid game. It’s only real problem is the censorship, had they just kept the game the way it was it would have just been a regular decent game but the second they changed it boy did they put a fire under it
By the gameplay and ost alone the game is a 9/10 imo SB has a lot of personality, characters, world and especialy the enemies The only thing i didnt love it was the story, it was decent but i think there is so much it could achieve in storytelling and character development I hope SB gets a sequel and they realy invest on the story and characters more, the combat is excelent and addictive ❤
I agree with you on the gameplay and stuff my overly critical brain makes me wanna give it a lower score The last hours does a lot for me. But like I mentioned the open world and stuff before the ending is a drag to go through. Not compelling as the last hours.
This game looked like it had so much potential in terms of world building and character development! I hope the developers build their next game with these things in mind! It’s refreshing having seen them create something so beautiful and thought provoking!!
@@kozmoz267 the gameplay was sick, can't lie. If only they could combine the gravity of the Dying Light 1 story with the movement of the Dying Light 2 story.
I got 1K hrs in both games, both played on release. DL1 on release was a mess as well like DL2 but they managed to fix that fast. Techland does a FANTASTIC job on improving their games. By the way your parkour looks smooth, using the grapling hook in a more realistic way like I do, good stuff.
Ty man. I need to get more familiar with dying light1’s evolvement as I think that’ll make for a good video. Very interesting the biase being thrown toward it.
@@jeramieshoe837well for one the grapple hook in dying light 2 has so many ways it can be used to get around. Mirrors edge it’s very binary. Another more physical example is how dying light 2 allows for the player to interact with buildings in so many ways. You can inside a good amount of them. You can also wall run anywhere. You can use parkour more meaningfully in combat. I have a video on my channel that does comparisons between the systems where it does this subject more justice. I mean can you could perhaps name one or two things here you can do in mirrors edge. Other than that dying light 2 is ahead of the game.
@@berice4390 grapple hook in dying light 2 was glitch and felt clunky as fuck. It was more annoying to use than fun and just took me out of the experience like the parachute did.
How do you "launch" Aiden like that after using the grappling hook and the ropes. I use the Left Mouse Button but he always does like a "side launch" and it looks and feels kinda silly snd slow. Yours looks much more fluid and cool looking.
The way he kicks like 90 degree from the direction he is swinging isn't realistic, neither is jumps half way up that building off the ground, and when he's sliding down the side of a wall, he wouldn't be able to launch his body upwards with that much momentum
@@judsalotI mean at that point is it possible to grapple directly at anything with dying light 1’s grapple or turn 360 degrees to make a jump. Also in the case of dyinglight 2 we know Aiden is an enhanced human/zombie hybrid due to the experiments he faced as a child which I think justifies that.
I heard that there's an upcoming DLC that's supposed to allow us to drive and use "Fury mode", idk some players were digging around the files and found these things... I am so stoked!
I think it really depends on how you wanna engage with it. If you wanna challenge yourself you can. If you wanna Spider-Man go ahead. I think that choice is sick.
@@misterexclusive8282 post a vid of a game I beat countless times years ago that isn't installed anymore? Yea that's smart, let me reinstall this large game and run around for a bit just to prove a nobody with a skill issue wrong 😂😂
Awful... that grapelling rope makes things ridiculous... 1 was much better, had to rely on whits and the parkour was much more realistic and terrifying. Not an improvement at all
Brother, did you forget about the grappling hook? That could be spammed 4 times in a row? And could latch on to anything disregarding angles or player position?
