Just a Special song from a most Wonderful Songwriter! Thanks so much for sharing this with us! Let’s all come to each other in our times of need! Neal from Boston, 💖🕊️☮️👍🌈🖖
I was in the Texas Chili Parlor drinking margaritas when I found out my husband hit on my sister and more than once: needless to say this part of the song does not feel so great but such is life so Guy and I have been down some of the same paths in our exotic Texas history.
In 1972 or so at National City, CA (just outside the gates of Naval Base Coronado), I was about 7 years old when my dad MCPO J. Lanphear (UDT diver, SERE head instructor, Strike Assault Boat leader) bought the Townes tape "The Late Great Townes Van Zandt". Me in my black Dingo boots, and Billy Jack cowboy hat with a rattlesnake band (that I killed and skinned myself) riding around with my dad in his 71 Chevelle SS (the one that became the Malibu) and the first time hearing it and I was hooked for the rest of my life. Still have the rattlesnake band 52 years later!
Nearing 74, many visits to USA since 1980, just returned from first visit to Texas. Austin and San Antonio. A close friend introduced me to Townes around 1987. Have listened to him ever since. I love every version of this song. The version with violin accompanist is very moving. Beautiful guitar. Beautiful song. Beautiful man. R.I.P..
