We live in the Sacramento area and your channel is one of my favorites. You are so calm and I enjoy your gardening style and seeing Chief always nearby. I have two Spirea in all day full sun and they are fabulous. The foliage color changes are just as spectacular as the blooms. I always cut mine back after the first flush is done and they produce a second flush of blooms. Then I cut them way back in the late winter/early spring to keep their size in check.

Also, I think you might end up having to move those back towards the wall. They're going to over take your stone path when they mature. 🙃

Thank you for such a kind comment.😊 I had been eyeing those plants for awhile. So glad I picked them up. Thank you letting me know when you cut them back. You’re not far from me, so I know you understand the heat.🌞 Have a wonderful weekend.

I picked up a few at Evergreen Nursery in Clovis. The rest I purchased at Home Depot. At the time they were $9.99 for a 1 gallon container.

Thank you so much.😊 We rarely have nighttime lows in the 90’s. During the hottest days, our nighttime lows can be 78-82. Even if at 7am it’s 73 degrees, by 10-11am it can be in the 90’s. It heats up quickly here. I hope your garden is ok.🌿🌸

My experience is after rooting plants in water. The best way to prevent plants from going into shock is to water your soil the next day. Just saying this because the plant roots are already full of water.❤

Loving your videos❤. You grow such beautiful hydrangeas, I wondered if I could ask a couple questions. I have my first hydrangea in a pot. It's just starting to bud. My first question is: Does it take forever for the buds to bud out? They're taking their sweet time. The other question: Can I plant that hydrangea in the ground now while it's budding. It's an "Endless Summer-Summer Crush". Will it do good is full shade? Thank you so much.
@birdhousegarden
@birdhousegarden Месяц назад
Thank you so much.😊 Yes, it does take awhile for them buds to completely open. I would hold off transplanting until it goes dormant. Depending on your zone, early spring is recommended. For me, because I live where it gets hot quickly, I would transplant in the fall. However if your summers are mild, transplant in early spring. If you can find a place with morning sun and afternoon shade that would be ideal. Great questions!🌸

You've given me a great idea for topiarys for my front door. I've priced the faux ones and they are soooo expensive that I decided it would be better to try real ones. Yes, I see your vision and your porch is already looking warm and inviting. Gosh, I can't believe those temps! @birdhousegarden
@birdhousegarden Месяц назад
Thank you.😊 The stucco has always been embarrassing for me.🤦‍♀️ From what we’ve been told…. the developer that built this neighborhood lived in our home/model. Perhaps he liked it so much that he did the scallops extra heavy. Each model has a different exterior. There are a few that have the scallops, just not as visible as ours. We’ve spent years pursuing stucco companies in the hope that they would be willing to tackle it. The 70’s have many things to be proud of… just not cottage cheese ceilings and this stucco.🤣
