After liking every comment recommending Original War I'd like to add my own. I think the game is fantastic, and has some unique mechanics I think you'd at least find interesting.
Maybe a Video (maybe even a small series) looking at the missions in star craft and analyzing what makes a campaign mission a good campaign mission. What parts can be learned from and which parts should be avoided for further campaigns. Maybe a mod had a grat way of fixing a problem. Maybe a tierlist of well executed missions and bad missions.
If you really want a fresh challenge, you could always try some 90s "Old but gold" RTS games and attempt to get them to both running and recorded on modern hardware
What if you hit up more Starcraft 2: Arcade? Or some of those custom campaigns, like what Jayborino has hit up over the years? I know a fair bit of em aren't up to your skill level, but it could be cool content to feature while getting through the blip.
Many have suggested other RTS, but for my unpopular opinion: Grant should try non-RTS game for once. I would love to see Grant doing either City Building or Simulation. Factorio maybe?
I personally don't have mod fatigue, but then again, I guess I'm late to the party - been subbed for only a little over half a year. I loooove the mod series, especially with those mods that I couldn't enjoy myself due to lack of skill or imagination, but watching you doing all kinds if crazy shit with em is a blast 😄
I also watch UThermal. He does StarCraft 2 multiplayer challenges where he restricts himself to specific units or tactics and tries to make it to grand master ranking. You could do something like that. You don't seem to do much multiplayer so it could be an interesting change of pace and content
A) Take a bit of a break. There's no point in getting burned out prior to a busy summer B) I quite like your commentaries. It doesn't necessarily have to be as long form. Also, I don't think I've ever heard you talk about actual strategy in Starcraft outside of 'they're building x, so I'll build y'. Then there's RTS meta strategy, like an in-depth look at turtling vs rushing: kinda like Spirit of the Law's video on Lanchester's Law. C) There's Darwinia/Multiwinia: they're a little old and janky, but I think they're such a simple take on rts's that they may refresh you. PS: It's also pretty cool you asked your community. I came in late with a comment last time you solicited ideas, so I'm not sure if it was seen. (Or maybe it was but the suggestion was bad.) I was curious about the Pacifist WOL run where you got to All In and it proved impossible. Is there any way to complete that mission by getting the initial Nyduses to spawn outside as you do and then floating lots of auto-repair buildings (barracks, or starports if you have autogas since they have more HP) in a large merry-go-round. Enough of them could theoretically out-heal the damage from Kerrigan and even soak some hydra shots to cut down on E-bay repair costs and worker deaths. I never found evidence that this strategy was attempted, but maybe I missed something. Finding a way to beat that mission would be an awesome feat to finish off a brilliant run.

May I suggest an RTS that's very different from what you normally play, and could be super refreshing (for you and viewers)? Supreme Commander (and its Forged Alliance expansion) is such a different take on RTS economy. Your income is a stream instead of little bite-sized units. You can start building something before you can afford it, since its cost is consumed in small bits too. This means income rate is just as important as total storage. You can absolutely crash your economy by trying to build everything all at once, so you have to stay focused on what you're doing in the moment and where you're spending and why. As an extra bonus, the super units are amazingly fun to unleash on the enemy once you have them built.
How about something completely different? Like souls-games or old stuff like morrowind or gothic? I know it's not your normal cup of tea but it would be fresh for your channel and watching you playing games you aren't (that) familiar with sounds fun to me.
I think playing through some Classic RTS or through some Real Time Tactics games (to save some RTS Classics just in case you want to do something with them specifically in the future) would be cool. So i'd recommend things like Dawn of War 2 Codename Panzers (any of them) Battlefleet Gothic World in Conflict Desperados Mech Commander
Lots of suggestions here for "play a different RTS" and I support that general idea. I know C&C has been mentioned a lot, Warcraft III is also a strong option though it's been covered on this channel in some depth. I'd also suggest Age of Empires 2 as a popular RTS that could fit the bill. I'd be interested to see your take on it certainly. It's of an age with WC3/SC1/Age of Mythology, so it's not totally out of your bailiwick and it hasn't been covered on this channel afaik.
Hey Grant, love the content and I'm seeing some really great suggestions, there are plenty of custom campaigns not using any of the base campaigns as a base. There is also so much arcade content that I think would be really cool to see you play through and might help all of us find new and exiting ways to enjoy sc2. I reccon if there is a big influx of sc2 content coming then maybe best to limit the amount being shown atm. A few games I would highly recommend checking out: Empires of the undergrowth is being fully released in the next week and a half, adding the rest of the story mode but you could always just start going through the content as the stuff that is already there is not getting changed (as far as I'm aware). You play as an ant colony trying to survive, tons of interesting level designs for each campaign mission as well as arcade type content made by the developers. Buggos is an indi RTS that I feel deserves a bit more love than it has gotten. You play as a swarm (a bit like the zerg but more beetle like) trying to take over a human planet, simple graphics, easy to understand gameplay with quite a large tech tree for many different builds, a more relaxed game of swarms taking over humans. Airships conquer the skies is a game about conquering empires with a steampunk setting with flying airships as the main unit. You can design your ships with total customizability and use them against opposing empires. I think it would be cool to see some other RTS games that don't get the attention they deserve! If not one that I suggested then any of the ones others have.
Since Starcraft is going to be getting so much attention, playing something else might be a good idea for now so burnout doesn't set in too quickly. If you're able, Halo Wars is one of my favorite RTS games because it was my first ever. I can't necessarily speak to its complexity compared to Starcraft, but I used to play it all the time and still do a decent amount. A playthrough of its campaign would be wonderful. The campaign is 15 missions long and all of them are genuinely interesting and different from one another. You could also try the sequel, Halo Wars 2, but in my opinion the original is far better. You're my favorite RU-vidr ever, like genuinely. Something about your style and realness makes for an incredibly good watching experience, even when you play through missions and content I've seen a million times. I've watched all of your Wings of Liberty and Starcraft 1 videos several times each. I'd do the same for the other Starcraft 2 campaigns but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play them and I'd like to avoid spoilers. You did that one single player coop mission as Stettman, right? I remember you said that you wanted to try more of that? If that video was poorly received, that's understandable not to go back and feel free to ignore this comment!
If you're gonna be having a huge mod fest soon... wouldn't it be fun to run a series on how to get _into_ the modding scene just leading up to it? Showing what the mod creation process looks like, giving helpful advice, tips and tricks, maybe even challenging yourself to try making something too at the end? Even for anyone who isn't interested in modding themselves, they'd get to take a peek behind the curtains. You often briefly mention stuff like "Oh, that's because of the co-op dependency" or "That's just a bug with the editor", but it never really sinks in what that actually means if you don't know what the editor is or how you even get co-op into the single player campaign to begin with. And who knows? It may get even more people invested into the modding scene, just in time for the big event, where they can admire the wonderful works of experienced modders just as they begin to tinker with their own ideas and creations. Also also, I know you mentioned Stormgate may take away from the SC2 audience, but... I _did_ hear they also want to focus on having a level editor too so custom campaigns and stuff are possible. And while it isn't the same game, it feels a lot like a spiritual successor to SC2, so whenever it does come out I think stormgate videos on the campaign and custom stuff would flow very well when mixed with starcraft content. That way you'd be following the stormgate trend as it arises, and hopefully you'd retain that same 50% viewership you're worried about losing in the process while also opening up a whole new outlet for custom campaigns :D
Hi Grant, your videos are great and really interesting to watch. Try to make my opinion here...Mods are really spiced up Starcraft games,but it's still SC. Maybe you can try to play different RTS like Iron Harvest, which people just forget or something. Or it will be another RTS game people just forget, there are plenty of them(I just in love with Iron Harvest, it will be very enjoyable to see it again on RU-vid). You're not stuped, ma chonker! Always great videos))
I know you built yourself up as mainly a Starcraft youtber/streamer, but i think the best solution is just spreading out to other rts games. You may think that your audience is already familiar with other rts, but I didnt know anything about Warcraft or Age of Mythology until you covered them. I think showing off other games, even if its just a bit, would help aliviate the fatigue that comes from playing the same game over and over again.
i think you could continue the Dawn of war, winter assault ork story. i know you stopped it a while ago, prob because of low viewship, but I think it would tide you over until the event starts

man, i think it's ok if you slow down with the archive posts, because people have already a lot to watch. in terms of games, i for one am mostly for starcraft 2 and 1, and i like vanilla challenges more than mods. one missed opportunity i saw was than both you and davey gunface did a kill everything run for wings of liberty some time age. you also did that for hots and lotv here on the archives. i think those could have been easily turned into main channel videos. either way, keep it up man, cuz you have some of the highest quality videos on the platform.
i see a lot of people recommending old rts games, and im all up for that. but i wouldnt mind it being a little bit more special. hear me out now. i would love it if the game was something grant doesnt know anything about, (if there even is such an rts game) and have him struggle to cast a game or few of it. for example if he hasnt seen much of red alert 3 before, have some people play a showmatch of it, while grant tries to cast it. maybe pull in some other streamers along for the ride? feel free to expand on this if you have any ideas, could be fun
