So, out of curiosity, how tall are you, Nathan? I was truly surprised, because I watched a ton of your videos and also studied with you at the Artist Works and I always saw you as a tall man (to my subjective eye 180+ cm)

What's that on your shoulder? You've stolen my idea! What someone should produce is a two ply mat with fabric underneath. Thank you for the video 👍

Kevin Burke warned his fiddle classes about 'working up' to speed... I resisted, but eventually admitted that the muscle memory doesn't translate well. Thanks for the great video.

I don't know why I'm watching this when I don't play my violin too much anymore-- i"m instead trying to improve on piano. Practicing on either instrument is not that different-- either way you have to figure out how to hit the notes accurately.

Thanks so much! So glad to have found you. I have an audition with this excerpt in 3 weeks…and can you believe I’ve never played it before?!? In all my years of symphony performance. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This was SO very helpful!

Tremendously helpful video. Thanks so much. Wondering if U anything on practicing Bow Division, say as in the 1st movement of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 1 in B flat even just the first page and perhaps some of the 3rd mvt., 1st page. Thanks again.

Very helpful- I've seen this trick before, but never had it explained so well. After watching this, I had to go back to the scene of the crime.- as I would slowly turn my hand inward and start grasping the neck, I could actually see the daylight between the fingers start to disappear. After doing this exercise, my fingers remain spread and my hand feels more cupped (like I'm holding a tennis ball) as opposed to that side-by-side vice grip. Seeing the right way to do it gets you started, but then understanding how it should "feel" brings it home. Thanks for the video.

The risk-reward advice is so important. In reality, you'd do this with a solo performance too -- pick pieces you are comfortable with but which also display your greatness.

Hello Mr Nathan! I hope you also tackle the other ornaments or embellishment to put in a music.. I dont know where to put, and will there be a overusing of ornaments too? Please use a pop music to demonstrate, thank you so much!!!

Very insightful about playing speed resisting sneaking the metronome up because of slowness practiced in. And congratulation on your latest appointment -- probably the best job there is to be had all in all, I'd think. Ale-8 toast!

Why don't the best players win auditions? Except in the case of the Boston Symphony concertmaster audition, when it did happen? 😂

Hi Mr. Cole. I'm really appreciate for your all videos. I'm trying to develop my skills and these masterclasses videos really helps me. May I ask you that can you share some videos about music theory, something like what is cadenza and how its working, when the composer putting in the music, how it starts and continue etc. Because i love the way you're teaching so clear and understandable and i need to develop my music theory. Because i understand with watching videos better then reading. Thanks a lot! I wish you health, greetings from Turkiye 🌼
