I am 30 and it's been almost 2 years with the braces and almost at the end of treatment, and oh boy I have so soooooooo much extra gum that I have to do small gum reducing surgery.
I paid 6500€ for pinhole surgery in Austria and lost all my money and have a worse situation than before. I didn't find many comments on RU-vid maybe they get deleted. But i searched the Internet and found a thread where many people write they lost thousands of dollars or euros and for nothing. They all regret it. I don’t recommend the Pinhole. I had it done. It’s very painful and didn’t work. Then I had to to have one of my teeth pulled because it became infected.
I wanna die at this point. I’m only 14 and 3 of my teeth gums have recessed only 1 have recessed badly and I really just was to get braces off I’ve had them for 4 years dude
I had no idea this was a thing until I took my braces off. It happened on some teeth, so I didn't even notice until I went to clean them after taking the braces off and my dentist told me. I'm so mad and worried sick at the same time. Does it get worse? I took such good care of my teeth, brushed and flossed and everything, but it still happened. Is this surgery painful, how long does the recovery take?
Braces were the cause of my gum recession too. But it was after they were taken off. It was the retainer that was kept in to keep my teeth from moving.
Never go for braces unless it’s very necessary, my orthodontist never told me a thing about gum recession. Now after about a year after I had my braces on I regret it a lot. The way my gums are receding seems scary and very uncomfortable, it’s way more worrying than the braces itself.

After braces, at the age of 21. my gums receded and now it looks very scary to me, no one ever told me that, they even told me that it wasn't from braces even though I was convinced and witnessed it myself... When you lower gums recede your teeth appear to look longer but as your upper gums receded your teeth will fall down through gravity making them actually measurably longer. However the teeth in both cases is the same length it was before recession. Teeth become loose as there is less gum foundation.
