After many years of city living, our family moved out to the country. Two years into living on our Southern California property, we realized we needed to start documenting all the projects, struggles, experiences, and joys that country living comes with. We are just an ordinary family learning to adapt to life on the "Ranch". We raise chickens, goats, fish, turtles, kids (the human kind) and enjoy a constant flow of new projects. Who knows what animal or adventure will show up next. Our goal is to be able to record all we have done, while sharing with family, friends, and well....anyone else that wants to watch...even it if is just my mom.
Awww this was so cool!!! I have one and have been googling like crazy trying to find a way to catch it cause it’s tearing up my yard so bad but I don’t want it to die 😢
But there isn't room for the door's arm (the U-shaped arm that goes straight up when the door is closed) to flip up with the board on top. Soooo how did this work? And I'm curious cause I want to catch and release gophers but with this trap, which I have, I'd have to dig the hole so deep it's below the tunnels. Help!
Well this was pointless. Got the same one but no info sheet with it for some reason. Hence why I'm here but this is even worse then not having the paper info sheet
Thank you for taking the time to put this together! Just ordered a live trip like the one you used and looking forward to catching our gopher and taking it up to the mountains where it can thrive without damaging our stuff.
Catch, dispatch with N2 in a container. Remember our "air" is between 70 and 80 percent N2. Process and freeze for a stew. What is left feed to Black Soldier Flies and then feed to fly larvae to the chickens. Full use of the resource with sources of protein. Concerned that the rodent meat is tainted (too many fleas or ticks), go straight to the flies after dispatch.
I oncewanted to live in the country and have goats, chickens and oodles of dogs. Then a farmer told me that on a working small farm, animal feces must be disposed of twice a day. A yard of poop is a buffet for mice. I'm too lazy to be a farmer
Dont barn cats get to live in a barn? A friend has 6 barn cats and they keep the barn clean but they also feed their cats. Please remember to use straw, not hay, inside cooler. Material/blankets will be ice cold and not hold the kitties body heat. You can also insulate the cooler and surrounding areas. Please get rid of the poison, cats will eat it. If owls and rats eat the poison and your cat catches the other animals and ingests them, cat will be poisoned. Please make this kitty who had a miserable life part of your family. They are more than just rat 🐀 ers. Cats 🐈 will kill them but rats are not a food source for the cat. I know u said u are not a cat person, and i do hope you show him love, affection, spay/neuter. You give to him, they give back.
I had a co worker who bragged about all the squirrels he caught and then released. He felt really great about it! Little did he know, he was releasing them in the park next to my home. So I had these pests eating all my fruit and garden goodies! So yeah, I had to get a trap, and to prevent the cycle of abuse, the buck stops with me and I terminate.
Thanks. I enjoyed the video. My new cat keeps catching the cutest gophers. They put their fists up, ready to fight, like a cartoon. I keep releasing them back, even tho he beats them up a bit. I don’t have anything growing here that they bother, so I’m happy to let them live in peace. I know he’s just doing what’s natural but I’m hoping he starts to leave them alone. They’re so cute I was wondering if anyone keeps them as pets, which is how I found your video. Thanks for not harming him. (At least the one)
I've used Squirrelinators in my garden, but you have to move the squirrels to another place to make their colony. I put them in the same place on Forest Service land that had predators. I caught 40 with 3 traps in 6 weeks.and didn't see another one for 3 years. I used rabbit food.
I would've kept him in the cage and fed him some dehydrated jalepeno mixed with some red cayenne pepper flakes. Then set some fermented mint leaf water with a hint of vinegar after 3 days hot pepper feasting. Least I could for the 🐿️
Many animal shelters have barn cat programs that adopt out cats to families who need barn cats. It’s not unusual, but I guess you wouldn’t experience that in city life.
I want one SO BAD!!! I don't think I have any around tho. Only thing I see is Ground hogs. Ain't NO way I'm catching a Ground hog LOL. Not unless I have to and then I will take it and relocate it somewhere
I say dispatch him. Releasing him makes him a nuisance for someone else. I wouldn't appreciate one of my neighbors dropping one off by my place. I believe in live and let live... unless it's messing with my property, my garden, my lawns, my chickens or chicken areas.
